I would suggest if they still issue glasses and your old ones already need to be replaced dont believe them if they say you wont need them. The first week they didn't issue mine even though they already had my eyes tested before i went in. I have very poor eyesight

Going to Fort Jackson in aug 21st, at least that's what my reservation says. Look forward to it, I've been working out very hard these last 7 months, doing insanity and p90x workouts. Also doing that future soldier courses online to get that E2 promotion before being shipped out.

Good luck. I went to Ft Jackson when it was cooler in mid to late October 2017. Can't imagine going in August when it will be hotter. Especially at 120th in reception where you'll have to stand around outside in formation for hours on end.

When i was at Fort Jackson back in 2011, I never had to worry about shaving since i got no facial hair on my face lol

@@diegomoreno4181 exactly what you imagine it’s like lol… but it happens so quickly you don’t even think. You’ll probably have less than 1-2 mins to shower during basic so it’s nothing to think about. You’ll be so busy and tired you won’t be thinking about who can see what! Congrats! Trust me it’s the least you’ll be worried about
i wish i could go back to BCT at benning. the shit sucked at the time but now that i look back i think i loved it

@@yartmus limited time… I heard the hot water runs out in some places but wasn’t my experience… pretty chill. They are separated if that’s what you’re asking, though you might have to get naked for a sec in front of a battle if needed, or just get your clothes all wet trying to be private… lol I tried to not drop my drawers in the presence of others and ended up going to bed with soaking wet PTs… I found it easier to drop the outside of the shower, do my thing.. and then get dressed outside the shower again… it’s not weird, it’s just what it is. Kind of like showering at a public gym … hope that answers your question?

Appreciate this video! I’m in the process of enlisting, i have a question the only thing I’m nervous about is the showers. Are they open?? I’ve heard some have stalls.
When I was in basic at Ft Jackson, we did have stalls in showers with curtains. So it's not like you'll have open showers where everyone will see you naked. Now when I was at Grafenwoehr Germany, that was the only time I had open showers where you and other dudes would see one another naked.
Aside from that, during my first week in basic, we had "shower drills" where the drill sergeants gave us a maximum time of 60 seconds to shower. After that first week, we no longer had that and could spend a little bit more time but not a lot more time. And the only time we could shower was at the end of the day. So all the sweating you'll do from running, being in dirt, having to do pushups from "getting smoked" etc. you just had to disregard it until evening when you are allowed to shower.
That even means getting into your uniform with you ass nasty. And we only wash clothes once a week so you'll be sleeping in dirty PT uniform after you showered. Oh and after you shower, there will be times when you'll be smoked again before you go to bed, which means you'll be in bed sweaty and with dirty clothes on.

it depends on the drill sergeants honestly… We get our phones every sunday but we are lucky if we get it wednesdays as well..
Is shaving powder allowed instead of shaving stick ?
Yes… but you do not get a whole lot of time to shave at basic so it might make sense to get some cream… I’ve shaved with just soap and water to save time before while there

Well that’s been my experience so far… but any MOS can travel… and if you’re isn’t deploying, you can volunteer to go to different deployments… that’s for the guard at least.

Yes you need to swim for 10 miles in under 4 hours no stopping… it’s hard but they train you… LOL…. Nooooooo no swimming at all
swimming is only for navy lol

We didnt have to do swim qualifications but i think its different if you join the marines/navy

@@demonfromhell2022 not the new military. The new military is worried about transgenders, this guy in the video half gene away from mental illness! Be lucky you didn’t have to shine your boots or starch your clothes, now you don’t even do the floors. There is no discipline in the military.
Here's the breakdown in today's military-first why are you making video's in uniform, second did they not tell you people about comsec-saying you're about to deploy. I guess the term loose lips sinks ship is no longer taught.
Thanks for your concern, I’m allowed to wear my uniform I believe and second, I didn’t mention anything about where I’m going. It’s public knowledge that my unit and others are deploying. @@realkevinellis man im 27 ive contemplated this thing like 2-3 times now, recruiter keeps calling me, thinking bout doing it. i like smoking weed which makes me not want to go but got no kids, jobs decent but still struggling to get by, 1k a week isnt enough to survive in dc metropolitan area. you think its worth it? the whole woke shit in military turns me off, also feel old and ive gone to meps before and everyone was like 18-20, felt weird. I so dont like the whole situation with current office, Ukraine, china etc. feel so lost. its calling my name but god damn in a way im so wishy washy about it
I’m 26 joining soon I took my gauges out and quit smoking you can do it bro if it’s what you want. I just know I’ll stay in the same routine in my town and I want a different life
@@21skinsfan Joining the military is worth it if you want to save up some money and have something to put on your resume to help you get a better job when you get out. Also the GI Bill to help with college. I would also say consider the Air Force instead of the Army at your age.

I was in the army from 1979 to 1982. I can’t believe how easy, soft and woke basic training and the Army has became today!
I would never advise a younger person to go into the military today. Especially under the Biden administration.
