I’ve heard so many different things about the fate of Babycat. I’ve heard it was discontinued Summer 2022, I heard they weren’t discontinuing just tweaking, I heard from SAs that they were having trouble with a few ingredients but not discontinued. Who knows??!! But I’ve got ya covered here! ❤️👍🏻😀
I just refuse to give in to this hysteria and chase a scent when the house knows exactly what it's doing. It's not what I would call respecting the client base, and so I am happy to check out the 'close enough' scents. There's always going to be another perfume. Don't need to struggle for this one.
Yep, I don’t mind paying… but it really is insulting to have them play mind games … including limited editions … I heard that some brands are on purpose selling their overflow on 3rd party market places, instead of sales…. Yet I wonder if,they are doing this from the start - I see a LOT of in package ‘limited edition” makeup selling for 3 times the price on eBay - completely unopened and multiples from one seller - I know a very small indie nail polish entrepreneur maker (who started it all as a hobby doing just RUclips videos) who seems to be able to keep up enough stock for demand - she doesn’t have everything unlimited always forever ; but she rarely has crazy sell outs where you can’t buy what you want if you’re around to get it and want it - and she’s a small business’s but very hyped brand with very great quality - makes me wonder about a lot of these huge brands why the can’t do the same

I was never able to smell Babycat, but I knew that I loved the notes. I was able to get Catwalk by Julianna’s Perfume and I also got Vanilla Baby from DUA. I absolutely love both of them. They are both very long lasting and they smell amazing.

I'm glad to see vanilla nomad get some ❤. I attended a perfume experience event and SJ talked about how during the pandemic she wanted a comforting scent and it was inspired by how in morrocco they heat incense on lava rocks. (May not have details 100%) That said it seems like I will be a Babycat fan as well sounds lovely. And also thank you for explaining attar.

I have half of this list, including baby cat . You’re exactly right about the audacity being the closest . I think baby cat is distinguished amongst them all due to the bourbon vanilla . It favors the bourbon vanilla that is in Guerlain SDV .

I have a decant of Babycat and I love it, but Genre Sweet Suede is such a high quality dupe, I’m totally okay with never owning a full bottle of the original.
I had that one also!!! But that one has been unavailable for like 8 months. On me, it didn’t last very long but I thought it had a great opening!! Apparently it might get restocked back on the website soon which would be great!!!

Someone told me it was available through a Facebook site. Is that what you are talking about? ) I even tried contacting them directly on IG to find out if it would be restocked on Etsy and I didn’t get a reply so I was a little confused. The ROSENDO MATEU one is for me, on my skin, not close to BABYCAT. Babycat is a very incensy vanilla and Floral Amber Sensual Musk is like very plasticky Barbie hair 😅
But: I ADORE both! My brother did not care for Babycat, but freaked totally out because of the Rosendo Mateu and bought it immediately ❤❤❤

I had a 2ml sample and for about 4 hours I couldn’t put my nose on which perfume it reminded me of, and then it hit me. Rosendo Mateu no.5. I am so happy that on my skin it doesn’t give that off putting opening that so many get. I think I am going to order Rafaqaat and a sample of Audacity. Thanks again.

Strangely enough, Babycat is available at Holt Renfrew in Canada. It’s usually us Canadian that don’t have access to perfumes most of the time! 😅😂

Hi Chris! I bought Babycat the end of last year, a 125 ml bottle for €188. Within a few months the price went up to 265! But it is still available in Europe. I have noticed the same thing happening with Fève Délicieuse and Dior Homme (Intense) in the US. I don't know why these houses are doing this. I would like to suggest The World According to Arthur by Penhaligon's to you. It's not exactly the same, but it does have that vanilla and incense vibe. There is grapefruit in this one and tonka, but it is so delicious! I might even love it more than BC. The performance is horrid, and I don't recommend buying, but should you have the opportunity to test, please do. I am a crazy person, so I did buy it lol. But I got it really cheap.
Oh yes I have Aurthur and really love it. It was in a recent video a few weeks ago (Supernatural fragrances). I do wish the longevity was better I completely agree. But I’m a sucker for incense and I love how unique it is. The bottle also. 😉 I thought about including it here but even though it’s a great vanilla incense….the other ones in the video were closer. I do overspray it also. 😂

The dry down of ISHQ al SHUYUKH Gold (Lataffa Pride) is also very similar to Babycat.
I have this but weeks later and I’m still getting rubber and petrol! After a few hours it’s gorg but totally headache inducing at the start imo!

Love my sample of Babycat! It’s right up my allley! Received my Riffaquat and it is an amazing dupe for the price. The opening is not as smooth as Babycat but it’s oh so close! I’m getting Eau the Audacity for Christmas! Can’t wait to get it!

I would add one alternative and one good dupe version. Matiere Premiere Encens Suave is another beautiful incense fragrance that gives the same vibe, but scratches the pepper for some coffee, although, I don't perceive it too strongly. And Dapper has a great version that I've purchased and road tested side by side with my Babycat decants, and it helped to calm my fears about never having an actual full bottle of Babycat.
I love Encens Suave. It did swing more into the gourmand territory to me than the others here but it’s great yes!! Looks like I need to do a vanilla incense video! Coming up!! 😃

I have that one but find it very different. The incense in Babycat is softer. And it has more leather.

I have never been able to smell Baby Cat however, I bought a Genre impression called Sweet Suede and the notes are the same and based on how others describe it I think it must be a pretty nice dupe. I like it and I really liked their Creme de la Creme which I guess is a dupe of an Elie Saab Essence No 10, also very hard to get hold of. That Amouage attar sounds heavenly! Julia
Hi there! Yes I had Sweet Suede and it’s really nice esp in the opening; but these others are closer and I had some trouble with Sweet Suede longevity and also finding it. Was sold out on Etsy for a Kobe long time. Where do you buy your Genre Parfums? That Crème sounds amazing!!
@@ThePerfumeNest Hi Chris, I got mine through etsy, I got five travel sprays and all were pretty good. They also have a website called louisianaroma. I noticed they don't have much at all in their shop now. I messaged them to see if I can get a 30ml of the Creme de la Creme. l have to say, I went up and sprayed the two I mentioned on opposite arms and the Sweet Suede is undetectable after only an hour (!) and the Creme de la Creme is still strong and I like it better. I may have to try one of your options down the road for a Baby Cat experience. Thank you!
Last March I traveled all the way to Canada to get a bottle of Babycat. It was an instant love for me when I tried a sample of it. Rosendo Mateu No. 5 goes on my skin in that burning tire way, which for some reason I find very addictive.😂 I find Vanagloria kinda wears the same on my skin as RM No. 5. Go figure.🤔 I need to try the others you mentioned, especially Eau de Audacity. Thanks for helping to alleviate the Babycat anxiety some of us feel. ❤🤗

And even though my skin at the moment doesn’t have major issues, I want to be very transparent and say that my camera has a “smoothing” filter that does smooth out my face and makes the lines around my eyes less noticeable. It drives me cookoo when ppl aren’t truthful about using a “filter”. 😉I have been religious about sunscreen since my 20s which helps. 🙏🏻and I spend almost 2 hours on hair and makeup each video. 🤦♀️😂
There are many people who don't understand Rosendo #5, perhaps even you since you don't like it. For me it's not at all an "amber floral musk" but an edgy SAVORY yet sweet aura that floats around the wearer. It reminds me of some Western ouds more than Babycat. Babycat may have a few similar notes but it ends in vanilla, frankincense and leather which #5 does not. #5 is crazy! Audacious. And I also love Babycat but I can't afford it so maybe I will try Rifaaqat.

Yes vanilla and incense are loves for me. If you end up loving Babycat, just buy the Eau de Audacity; it’s THE closet by far. Rifaqaat is a fabulous affordable option; not as vanillic and sweet but such a great bang for the buck!

I do love Babycat, was not sure at first because the incense is strong in the beginning but to my nose, in the dry down the vanilla intensifies! I love it! I gives me similar vibes to Amouage Guidance. They are different but it’s a similar vibe! With Babycat I was in Ulta and was immediately stopped and the young lady asked what I was wearing; she said it smelled amazing!! ☺️👍❤️

In the simplest terms, vanilla and incense. Now add leather (saffron). Those notes are at the core.

There's another Babycat inspired fragrance called Nayel Queen by Arabiyat Prestige which can be had for under $50 and it comes in a beautiful elegant bottle.😉👌

I've worn the same scent (Gianni Versace for women) since it was released in 1981. As you know, it has sadly long been discontinued...and in my mind, Donatella's nose is broken. (She releases fragrances prolifically but I don't like any of them! I hope now that Versace has been sold to a larger group that they might bring it back. It's a thought...) I've bought up reasonably-priced bottles, but they are becoming more rare...so...I am looking to stretch out my supply by trying to find other fragrances I do enjoy.
I'm now down this "rabbithole", learning as much as I can about what is available, which notes I enjoy, and which I don't...and the "whys" behind it all!
I'm really enjoying that fragrances seem to have exploded in that there are FAR more varieties available today, and not just from a few French perfumeries. The world is our oyster, so to speak, when it comes to available fragrances today!

I finally got a bottle of BabyCat on sale and discounted. It is being guarded by my bottles of Rifaaqat and are it's honor guard. Haha. Just a note the Rifaaqat is missing the suede leather note. But that's ok. I can layer it with a leather scent to accentuate it's effect.
Let's see what Alternatives you have for Babycat, cause I refuse to pay these crazy prices for this fragrance.

Rifaqaat will get a solid 5 hours. Audacity longer but I’ve had ppl respond here in the comments they got all day with Rifaqaat

I got a sample of vanagloria because it was all I could afford and I’m in love. I was hoping to try rifaqaat because I love the scent profile so much and that price point is more sustainable for me long term but I can’t seem to find it in stock anywhere. Chris, do you know why YSL has decided to make Babycat so difficult to get? You would think YSL would see the profit they could make on this scent that everyone wants. It’s baffling to me.
Talking to lots of folks there are/were logistical problems, even including legal battles over the name. But you know what, it doesn’t matter. I’ve got 2 amazingly close that I love and a total of 4 Very close! We’re set ! Esp now with Eau de Audacity; about as close as you can get. Dominique came through again! 😂
I’ve tried baby cat a few times on my skin and it’s always the black pepper that stands out from beginning to end, I do like the vibe of it tho so maybe one of these alternatives would get the job done, thanks for this type of vid, thoroughly enjoyed it..….a vid like this regarding oud satin mood would be nice, is that fragrance you’re fond of?
Thank you! Yes it’s peppery at first isn’t it? I can see how that might be a little off putting. That has died down since having my bottle for over a year now. It’s much more subtle. I can certainly add that to the list!

I heard so many differing things. I heard it was discontinued Summer 2022, I heard they weren’t discontinuing just tweaking, I heard from SAs that they were having trouble with a few ingredients but not discontinued. Who knows. But I’ve got ya covered here! ❤️👍🏻😀
