RIP Mel! You truly were such an beautiful person inside and out! One thing that really ticks me off is that she put out such great wholesome beauty content and did so for YEARS and I just don't understand why there's only 120,000 subscribers!! She was so much better than ANY other Beauty RUclipsr! Seriously! Younger generation could really look up and see what a good example is! The world lost an angel.
One reason was propably the fact that she used high end products. Many young girls especially can't afford Tom Ford etc. Her videos propably weren't suggested to people who watched drugstore makeup content. I found her by accident, she was never recommended to me, cause I never searched reviews for high end products. And then there's the fact that this youtube makeup space has been around for ages, there's so many options now and the big creators started earlier than Mel. But anyway, she was amazing, I really miss her. ❤️
No joke, I do everything you do on the wrong side and that's why I always thought i looked better without eye makeup... I have seen several tutorials on this but the bad side is always so ridiculously badly done that it teaches nothing... this though, is supremely helpful and I am really excited to do my eye makeup tomorrow for the first time! Thank you x10 Mel!
Hi Mel. Interesting video. I like both looks. I thought the one on the right was simple and pretty, and I think that not using liner and mascara on the lower lashes leave a more wide awake look to the eyes. The one on the left was very dramatic, which you can do so beautifully, but I am 60 now, and can't wear those heavy colors and dark liner. I need a much lighter hand now than I did in my 30's. I'd love to see you bring in an older model and do their makeup! You have such a flawless face, and gorgeous eyes that you'd look good in anything, even the 'don't" makeup. I'd really love to see you work on someone older, who maybe has hooded eyes. I know I'd learn a lot!
What a great video!! You should do this for several different facets of the face too like contouring and bronzing and allllll that jazz.. loved it! Tell the truth how bad were you DYING to go wash off that bad eye lol
Also, I loved all of your tips and tricks for hooded eyes! I always get intimidated trying different eye looks because I don’t know how to navigated my hooded eye well. I would LOVE to see a video where you do a few common eye tutorials (ie cut crease, halo eye, smoky eye, etc) doing the looks entirely the way you would do it on hooded eyes. I think that would be so helpful! You are the best teacher and you help me understand how to make the most out of my makeup application! 💕💞💗
Holy smokes, I do a lot of those "don'ts." I always felt like shadow under my eyes make them look smaller. Live and learn, thanks Mel. You just changed my everyday shadow technique!
Always happy to find “treasure” videos that I have not watched yet! When these run out I will revisit your timeless videos over and over. Missing your divine light. You continue to bring joy. Love you Mel.
This video was so helpful! the detailed technique and explanation was amazing. Please do more like this. Maybe one on bronzer/blush/highlight application?
I really appreciate that you used realistic application techniques on both eyes. So often the "do & don't" videos feature obviously bad application techniques on the "don't" side that most people never do, which isn't useful for viewers. I definitely do some of the things on the smaller eye side. I've never really known how to fix it, but after seeing you do it side-by-side, I now know exactly what I'm doing that closes my eyes in rather than opens them up. I way overdo my brow bone highlight and inner corner highlight every single time. Thank you so much for this video.
Mel! Hello! I just saw the Wayne Goss video. Congratulations beautiful lady. I told you months ago you would be a big RUclipsr. I think you laughed at me lol. Your time is coming. You may or may not read this but I am truly 💯 elated for you. I know you are wondering why commenting on this video. I save them and when I can get away from work I binge watch. I love your videos can't afford most of the makeup you review but I just enjoy. I am a RN so not getting rich lol. Keep true to you and you will have your own line one day. Love ya.
This should be required viewing for anyone who is going to put makeup on their face!! What a difference! I'm definitely guilty of throwing on mascara quickly and running out the door. Going to pay more attention to my lashes from now on because the difference is staggering! Gorgeous as always Mel xx
I have watched Wayne Goss for years and he had some really nice things to say about you so here I am. He wasn't overstating how very beautiful and genuine you really are!!!! I am 52 and still love make up. I have watched at least 6 of your videos in the past few days! I will definitely be subscribing and keeping you on the playlist! Thank you
When I took esthetics course 20 years ago my instructor was from Germany and during the makeup part of the training she taught us about putting mascara on the back side of the lashes. So I've always done it. Funny I can't recall anyone else on yt talk about doing it. Love that your videos are always more of a laid back teaching style.
This is such a great video! So wonderfully detailed, and I appreciate that you’re talking about different eye shapes. This is what I want from RUclips. People who know what they are doing, speaking intelligently, and giving advice. Not novices promoting rampant consumerism
Hey Mel💖 I just realized I never commented on this video. I really appreciate that you made this video and that you did it in real time. I hooded eyes and a lot, I mean A Lot, of upper lid space. I will will be watching this again and again.
I have a pretty balanced face so sometimes i can go for big eyes but sometimes i think small eyes are nice as well, so i liked both sides of your make up ;)
This was INCREDIBLY helpful!!! I'm totally blown away by the different!! And a big thanks for including tips for hooded eyed gals!! Just recently figures out that that's my eye type so hearing a bunch of suggestions was great. I'm definitely going to start working those into my routine. One thing I'm super guilty of is bringing the darker shadow further in towards my nose at my eye inner corner. I'm going to try your way today and see how it looks!!! Thanks sooooooo much Mel!!!! ♡♡♡
You have the most amazing brows ever. I have a problem with the blending part, loved you showed it all in real time. No fast forwarding. Please make more of these tutorials, they are so helpful. Wow what a difference, I’ve been doing everything wrong. So happy I found your channel.😘
I`m so glad you did this video. 💗 I do have hooded eyes and back when I was just getting into makeup I watched tutorials but I quickly realized nothing really worked for me. I do watch tutorial still, I just don`t try them on myself. I remember watching a video from Wayne Goss something about eyeliner on hooded eyes (which I don`t do, I rather use the lid space I have showing for eyeshadow) and that made me think about my eye shape and I realized I need to look straight into the mirror and I just did what looked best for me, and that included blending eyeshadow really high up, smoking out the lower lashline and extending the outer corners. I do have too naturally big lashes, but every two weeks I apply castor oil, both on lashes and brows, just to keep them healthy and growing and to prevent sparseness. I not a MUA, but I am an artist, graphic designer and illustrator so knowing human anatomy, how light and shade hits the face helped me actually more then I thought when it comes to makeup. Your video is just confirmation that I`m on the right path. 😃
This is my FAVORITE video of yours I've ever seen - and that is saying something!!!! I love your reviews, but your tutorials are AMAZING. You, Wayne Goss, and Jaclyn Hill (her older videos) create the absolute best tutorials. THANK YOU!
You knocked this video out of the park!!! Great job on this video! I just told my mom that she needs to go online and watch this video. I'll probably share it to my Facebook too. I hope your feeling better today?
OK, Missy. Your content in the past two weeks has been FAN-fricken-tastic. I has to resubscribe. I really love to see a mix of high-end and drugstore reviews and tutorials like these and your content has been just perfect! I have absolutely loved every video the past two weeks (especially the Colourpop eyeshadow review - and I don't even have much Colourpop). Forgive me...I'll never leave you again! :)
omg, thank you so much for this! I have very round eyes and I always feel like a weirdo for not adding heavy black cat eye style eyeliner. This tutorial confirms my instincts are correct! I also love a nude liner on the lower lash line! Glad to know I'm not a basketcase 😊
Thank you for being so educational you truly know what your doing and your make up always looks stunning! I love watching your videos I learn so much! Keep up the honest, educational videos!
What a helpful video! I have hooded eyes AND wear glasses with a strong prescription that makes my eyes look smaller, so I'm always looking for tips on how to do my eye makeup to counteract that whole situation. This was perfect! Thank you!
Extremely helpful! I struggle with very hooded aging eyes and it is always so hard for me to wear the shadows that I want to wear without making my eyes look beady. Thank you!!!!!
Oh my goodness, this video I had to watch twice 🤣 when you said "there we go" when you were doing the eye on what, not to do - that's me! I really needed this today - won't go into it, but was a little tearful and low, which is so unlike me - Mel your video , without realising it, pulled me right out of it, and I'm smiling! 😘
I love the detail you go into! I was sent to your Chanel via Wayne and he was right todo so. I am an older watcher and I am amazed at the amount of tattoos and lack of hair but you amaze me about your makeup application and why you do things and how fantastic you look in the end. Will I keep watching? You bet! This is the 3rd one I’ve watched and I love your honesty! Thanks 🙏🏻
Such great advice and tips! Everywhere I look, I see this advice for people over 40. "DON'T wear mascara on your lower lashes. Playing up your lower lashes can make your eyes look droopy and draw attention to dark circles. It makes the eyes look older and accentuates the under eye wrinkles." What is your take on that, Mel? For those over 40, is it better to skip mascara on the lower lashes, or will it make the eyes look too small?
Meh! I'm 50+ and I deffo put mascara on my lower lashes. Such a stupid "rule". At any age you should look at your eye shape and do whatever you feel need an adjustment. Not this or that cuz you hit a specific number. Just nu humble opinion. You do you and what makes you feel good 😍
I would never skip mascara on the lower lashes - as you saw in the video, it actually makes eyes look smaller - even older eyes. For reference, I am 53 so I’ve been wearing mascara for a long time! Regardless, one way for you to gain confidence is to try to re-create this video to see for yourself the difference it can make. 💕
Danielle, I never skip lower lash mascara and I am 55! I feel that there are no hard and fast RULES, but that there ARE guidelines that we can follow that may give us a better look or outcome when applying makeup for a certain face shape, eye shape, etc. Try the mascara that Mel used, MAC gigablack. It is so easy to apply and will not smudge. If you want a less expensive mascara, try wet n wilds megalength mascara. It has a small skinny wand and won t budge either! Lisa
I’ve been watching your channel for some time now, and I love it. The tips and reviews are amazing. Your makeup and skin always look flawless. I couldn’t pull off a lot of the looks, but the artistry and just beauty to them is 😍. I was more commenting today because sometimes you’re absolutely hysterical and I don’t even think you realize it. The “pause” and the “umm yeah” while doing the excessive brow highlight 🤣 and then the hooded eye impression made me roll. Kudos to having such an awesome channel and for putting out soo much content!!😊😊😊
Wow what a big difference! I remember doing it all wrong in high school! And actually up til about 7 months ago when I started watching RUclips videos and watching makeup tutorials! I can’t for the life of me do a wing though. I’ve tried and it never works out. Something to keep practicing. Thank you for doing this video, I’m sure it will help others.
Thank you SO much for posting this video!!! I tried your technique's today, even went out & purchased the Milk makeup nude eyeliner. I didn't realize how much I was making my eyes smaller!!! I look bright eyed & awake today!!!! THANK YOU MEL!!!
Thanks for the tips for hooded eyes. I have hooded eyes this helps a lot! I've been watching your videos for a while and love your work! Please give these tips as you try new eyeshadow tuturials!
For years I got told my eyes were too big for my face, but now I'm emphasising it and loving it- took trial and error with techniques but vids like this would have helped me along in my early 20s lol great work :)
Really great illustration for anyone learning how to do their eyes! Love that Cocoa Mirage... I reallly want to get it. It looks really pretty with your brown eyes.
OMG. Tried mascara behind the lashes first then in front. You are right, without that you do miss the tips. Got them to look a bit longer today. Thanks!
I JUST watched this 2X back to back just to make sure I didn't miss anything! Such great tips and I'm pleased to know I already use most of them! But it was super helpful to see them side by side! You looked like 2 different people from one eye to the other! Beautiful job from a beautiful lady! Thanks and LOVE
I am doing several of those smaller eye things...I will definitely try those tips, thank you! I have hooded eyes and would love to see you do this on someone who has that issue, too. Really nice video
This video is extremely helpful. I would love to see more videos like this one featuring different makeup techniques. Cocoa Mirage blends like a dream 😩😍 Thanks for sharing your tips and tricks with us Mel. 🥰
This is SO helpful! I learned so much cause you showed every part of this! I would love to see more videos like this talking about how to use different colors and matte vs shimmer ect in different looks! Thank you! You are awesome!
This was an awesome tutorial, I learned a few tips that im going to try today! FYI I started using Mac Extended Play on my lower lashes about a year ago because you recommended it,I never used mascara on my lower lashes before that because it was too messy. That little wand and the formula are just perfection for the lower lashes😉
Mel, what a cool video. Yes please, share with us those tricks of the trade, they are fantastic coming from you!! (May be bronzer & blush application, as thoroughly explained? Spot concealing without heavy coverage?) Thank you so much for this one, it was great💐
Who else is here to continue their support Mel's channel? RIP & prayers for her loved ones.
Mmmmmmeeeeee
Me! ❤

I miss her so much.

How did it go then, did you finally manage to get bigger eyes 😃? I found her tutorial quite impressive for thé reasons you put out!
Attention to detail ! She is the best by far instructor ,I many times watch her over & over until I get every tip and product discription .🦋💕
"Preeeetty decent brows" Um... GIRL, YOU GOT THE BEST BROWS 🙌🙌🙌🙌
Lol truth! Her brows and lashes are GOALS
Agreed!
Miss you so much.
You’re timeless.

I love when you teach like this!
Lisa BenAderet I agree 100% ! She’s awesome! And shares important tips& tricks!!! 👍🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Awesome video as usual this is the first one I am able to watch since your passing 😪, you are truly missed!
You have taught me some tricks just now. Your videos will never be irrelevant. Thank you for all you gave us.

Nancy Robinson - Risa Does Makeup has a couple of great tutorials on hooded eyes -
What a great video!! You should do this for several different facets of the face too like contouring and bronzing and allllll that jazz.. loved it! Tell the truth how bad were you DYING to go wash off that bad eye lol
Yes please!
Thank you so much for these tips! Your eyes always look big and beautiful, so I am excited to try out some of these!
Can you please show us a tutorial for hooded eyes, or since you don’t have them do it on someone who does! Please ma’am it would help so much!!!
Check out Wayne Goss

I agree. She could also take it one step further and bring in someone with hooded eyes and work her magic on that person!
Your brows are an absolute dream
love it one of the few influencers that still does tutorials, tips and tricks and honestly can trust for makeup reviews 💚
Holy smokes, I do a lot of those "don'ts." I always felt like shadow under my eyes make them look smaller. Live and learn, thanks Mel. You just changed my everyday shadow technique!
Wow huge difference! Thank you Mel for still helping us out!! Happy heavenly New Years Mel ❤🎉

HAYYYY BEAUTIES
I LOVE YOU SO FREAKING MUCH BABY GIRLLLLLLLL
XOXO
I just cannot believe that you are gone to a better place… I Miss you so much Mel…
The best application of eyeshadows that I have seen in RUclips! We need the same in bronzing, blush, face highlighter, etc! Please!

Mel's eyes are so stunning that even the "bad" eye doesn't look bad. Thank you for the tutorial Mel!! Would love to see more of these ❤️

Not novices promoting rampant consumerism
Hey Mel💖 I just realized I never commented on this video. I really appreciate that you made this video and that you did it in real time. I hooded eyes and a lot, I mean A Lot, of upper lid space. I will will be watching this again and again.

Thanks sooooooo much Mel!!!! ♡♡♡
Really appreciated the real time blending and application. This is what RUclips makeup used to be like. 🙏🏻
You are a great teacher and you don’t rush thru it!! You are very talented!!
I love the tip of extending the lid shade up tp the crease, thank you
You have the most amazing brows ever. I have a problem with the blending part, loved you showed it all in real time. No fast forwarding. Please make more of these tutorials, they are so helpful. Wow what a difference, I’ve been doing everything wrong. So happy I found your channel.😘

This is my FAVORITE video of yours I've ever seen - and that is saying something!!!! I love your reviews, but your tutorials are AMAZING. You, Wayne Goss, and Jaclyn Hill (her older videos) create the absolute best tutorials. THANK YOU!

Mel you and your channel have quickly become my favourite place to be on you tube✨
Honestly with such a face, there is no doing wrong. What a gorgeous woman.
I just think Mel is perfection
Her eyebrows are so perfect
Her eyelashes are long and curly
She is so pretty
You knocked this video out of the park!!! Great job on this video! I just told my mom that she needs to go online and watch this video. I'll probably share it to my Facebook too. I hope your feeling better today?
Such an awesome teacher. You are missed. Thank God for these videos.
You very quickly became my new favourite RUclipsr and videos like this, that showcase your talent prove why!!!
Thank you!

Congratulations on hitting 90k
100k here we come 🎉🎊💐
Yay! Thank you!!!
omg, thank you so much for this!
Timeless video - bless you Mel. You'll be missed xx
Wow! I'm blown away by the difference. Incredible, Mel! 💖
What a helpful video! I have hooded eyes AND wear glasses with a strong prescription that makes my eyes look smaller, so I'm always looking for tips on how to do my eye makeup to counteract that whole situation. This was perfect! Thank you!
Really great informative video, Mel. Hooded eye girl here. Keep doing you girl you’re my favorite!💥
You should definitely do more of these videos sharing all your expertise with us! Your tips are so great, I can't wait to try them out.
Very good video Mel. Your makeup is beautiful, but the larger eye is terrific.
Extremely helpful! I struggle with very hooded aging eyes and it is always so hard for me to wear the shadows that I want to wear without making my eyes look beady. Thank you!!!!!

I get the tutorial, it’s amazing, but kudos on that wing liner on the “don’t eye”. You make bad look good !!
Yay, Makeup class with Mel! Such great tips for those of us with small eyes!
Such a great video. Thank you for taking the time to explain each step( also including helpful tips for us with hooded eyes)! New subscriber 👏
Thank you Mel! I have hooded eyes and have been doing every “don’t” ! I learned so much from this video and can’t wait to practice what you showed!
Where was this video like 10 years ago!!! My hooded eyes love you so much for this! New tips and tricks to try out!
You are hands down one of my favorite channels to watch, love ur content

Fantastic tutorial Mel! Thank you! It was crazy seeing the difference on you.
You are so missed. I still watch your videos. The BEST ❤
You are such an incredible teacher! You share techniques and then share the why behind it! Thank you so much.
So helpful! If Im not careful I can really close up my eyes. Im so happy to see your channel growing. You def deserve it 😘😘😘😘
Best tutorial ever! I'm going to try this tips out right now.
WOW! What a difference between the two eye looks. Thank you for this!
😍❤️🙌🏻❤️

This was so great, really useful. I’m such a big fan of your tutorials ❤️
For years I got told my eyes were too big for my face, but now I'm emphasising it and loving it- took trial and error with techniques but vids like this would have helped me along in my early 20s lol great work :)
Love this type of video! I would like to see a full brow video and complexion from primer to powder application

OMG. Tried mascara behind the lashes first then in front. You are right, without that you do miss the tips. Got them to look a bit longer today. Thanks!
Awesome tips!! I also love to see the process in real time!
I learn from you every single time I watch a new video. Thank you for your tips and knowledge.

Cocoa Mirage blends like a dream 😩😍

This was an awesome tutorial, I learned a few tips that im going to try today! FYI I started using Mac Extended Play on my lower lashes about a year ago because you recommended it,I never used mascara on my lower lashes before that because it was too messy. That little wand and the formula are just perfection for the lower lashes😉
Love that mascara!
Mel, what a cool video. Yes please, share with us those tricks of the trade, they are fantastic coming from you!!
(May be bronzer & blush application, as thoroughly explained? Spot concealing without heavy coverage?)
Thank you so much for this one, it was great💐
