I studied guitar with Pat for about 2 years and I would say he was the only real teacher I had. He would listen to how I was playing, improvising and he had a knack for giving me music that would help grow my own style. We worked on Alexander Bellow, Own Middleton and Villa Lobos. I miss having an instructor like this. One who listens and responds, not imposes. A rarity.
I recall he said a friend referred to his instrument as a “broken mandolin with radar.” (if he says this in this vid, note I have not yet finished watching for the first time)

Likewise. When I say “my teacher,” he’s the one I mean.
