Amazing watch, moved back to Suunto from Polar and Garmin - can't see myself getting another watch for a long time as it's perfect for what I want - training progress, adventure planning & reliability. I having been researching watches and I am leaning towards the Suunto Vertical Solar (undecided between Titanium or Stainless Steel), because it has all the features I want and looks amazing. Spot on review. Had the Titanium from the start. The only thing I’d add is that creating routes and sending to the watch is best in class - reliable and pretty great to follow too. Bit reroutable as Des mentions. Also, watch faces are probably worst in class. Suunto need to add a face creator page in the phone app - complications etc.

Nope. Same lag. If You scroll down and wait like 10s. its speed up. Like slow awake. I scroll down to last position of menu list, than watch speed up and ui work faster (not perfect). When i go back to watchface and wait a moment, watch slow down again, and after any action (button press) its slow again for a few sec. I sam same thing on video.

    Hi @Desfit,
Great review, as always! Two quick questions and one wish:
Q1. Can you have one type alarm for weekdays, and one for weekends, or is it one-off - weekdays - always for any alarm?
Q2. Can you see your average interval pace for each interval during and after interval sessions?
W1. Oh, how I would wish to see a comparison between the platforms of Suunto, Polar and Garmin (and Coros)! It would definitely help when considering the jump from one brand to another.
    Keep up the good work,

really if the upcoming Fenix 8 wont have an MIP display i will pick up the Suundo Vertical Titanium. Very nice watch which has lots of high end features. Just waiting to see what Garmin will decide for the Fenix 8 regarding the display. Unfortunatelly Polar went for the OLED display for the Grit X2 Pro which is not what i was expecting for. Maybe companies must listen to their customers. I know OLED is a very nice bright, clear display with good visibility, but we are athlets, and we are looking for a very nice MIP diplay which is visible outside, and is much nicer with the white backround than any OLED display with white backround, not to mention that it doesnt consume battery when a white backround is chosen.

I have a Suunto Race and own a Garmin 255 Music. The Suunto has a nice build quality, Garmin does a better job in the notifications area and other little things. If I was buying today, it would be a solar edition watch, Vertical or a Enduro 3. I am happy with my Race and personally love the wheel on the right side to scroll through menu's, battery is good, but solar would be nice. Garmin watches just seem like lots of plastic and spending $500 or more it should feel and look like a real watch. I'm sorry don't have a the Vertical to give specific experiences, looks nice though.

I was wondering while watching why the new Polar Grit X2 Pro is considered way too expensive but the high price of the Vertical is somehow ok?
For me they are similar watches with similar features. Except different displays of course and the solar charging by the vertical. 🧐

    • @DesFit
      @DesFit  10 месяцев назад +3

I don't necessarily think the price of the Vertical is OK by any means but being made in Finland with renewable energy as well as the carbon offsets may be factors in the higher cost. It's comparing the Grit X2 Pro with the Suunto Race where the price of the Grit X2 Pro becomes harder to swallow. Thanks!

The vfm of suunto race makes it a no brainer, unless you are an athlete or have unlimited budget to spend.

@@MartinStenport value for money spent. Also my comment is 3 months old. The watch is even better since the last update this month.

Nice watch but it seems clunky compared to other watches of similar functions and price.

It's still a mess of a watch. Beautiful craftsmanship but still laggy as all hell; step miscounting; HR is atrociously inaccurate and at the same price as a 7X Pro SS, one should never look at this. An alpha-stage product sold as a final one, at the latter's price. I wished, so hard, for Suunto to hit a home run with this watch but alas, it's not there.

Could have something to do with the processor or the speed at which they chose to keep the processor - both could have benefits when it comes to power consumption leading to the incredible battery life.

@@DesFit Yes wish we could choose two modes on watch, performance and battery save. I dont mind to have 2-3 days less on vertical but with faster processor. :D. Like one click overclock
