I bought two of these for use in two different locations. I tried a mono setup, but with the subwoofer, you can only use one, which results in a random source for the sub. The sources L/R are usually similar but not identical (e.g Ramones first album). Additionally, if you don't keep the volume at max (I keep it at the 10 o’clock position in a ~7x4 m room with Dali Oberon 3 speakers), the volume levels won't match.
Got two these coming along with a Gustard H16 pre. I liked the AO7Max for some time. Half the price of the ZA3 here in Australia, but tiny and light weight. Plus it has an Aux out and I prefer the sub out for my REL sub. Hoping for good results and I think the sound to price ratio is well in my favour. I may get nowhere near audio Nirvana but my ears are 76 years old and painted on.... I rather like your style dude, so I'm one more subscriber...
What speakers are those in the thumbnail, do they come in black and where can i find more info on them? Ive looked on the Fosi audio site but don't see them.
Are u guys making a matching preamps for the Za3? I read many people have found no improvement in sound when used in mono. What sort of speakers would benefit most? Thanks
I have 2 of them as a second system it's very hard to tell from mono to stereo. Using my Elacs and PSB speakers I cant tell any difference but my KEF R3 meta yes and I'm very impressed cause these za3 amps in mono sound almost as good as my Heaven 11 Billie amp and that amp is 2k. I use an old 1999 Pioneer Elite A/V as the preamp for the za3.
@@991carreras3 thanks! So it is really speaker dependent. I currently have Qacoustics 3020i which do not seem to be too demanding amp wise. Perhaps I stick to stereo mode with a single za3 then. Thanks!
No, you just need a properly-designed and constructed stereo amplifier. Monoblock amps are an affectation, and the way you are using it makes it more-or-less impossible to fully phase- and amplitude-match the two channels, which is how imaging happens, and far more important than the channel separation. Channel separation in a proper stereo amplifier can be almost arbitrarily high. You do not need "fat" speaker cables, they are actually more inductive/foot. Short is an advantage, but anything less than about 10 feet is more or less short enough. XLR is also unnecessary and your claimed improvement is a fundamental misunderstanding. I also note that this amplifier is "Class D" which function as a noise generator, PWM square waves generate all sorts of RF and other noise that has to be filtered out. The only advantage of Class D over a proper linear amplifier is the efficiency, that's how they are small.
Wow your so wrong with your D class knowledge they have come a long way in the last few yrs. Your AB is going to have a short life in a few yrs. I owned many AB amps over the years and I'll never ever go back after my purchase of the Heaven 11 Billie amp. Tube pre amp and D class amp is the best I ever heard and the Billie is the cheapest amp I ever owned.
hunda dollar "blockers" dream. Max ratings are not available until under 4 ohms. Difficult to be stable at 2 ohms for any amp. Plus extra speaker cables are needed in dual mono. Takes $500+ to get (2) 48v units and cables. Vent holes and heat sink tape on the bottom should be a clue...FIRE in the hole. All the rage in late 2023, but check back in 2025 for survivors.
Have 3 of them as mono blocks driving my Front-Floorstanders and the center Speaker on my AV Receiver. Works perfect with the 12V Trigger!
how do you connect the 12V trigger ( using 3 cables for this setup ? )
Awesome review Thanks! ive got 2 of them on the way.

With preamp to 2 ZA3, volume of ZA3 should turn to max? If Max volume, does the opamp bypass on ZA3?
I set mine to max when driving from my preamp. Input sensitivity matches my class A/B

My Starkrimson Stereo Ultra DMC 2.0 has separate power supplies.
Can I make the dual mono setup with 2 different amps I.e aiyima A07max + fosi za3 ? Or the 2 amps should me identical?

@jd5787 Oh no, buy two and try it the mono setup give it a good two weeks of everyday use if theres no improvement return the one.
It is not available anyway...

No, you need mono and stereo system!
