For more than 3 years now i use both methods every month i do deep floss but for daily drive i do water floss and i got the best result of this till this day.
I had a water flosser as a teen. That thing was big. I used to get cavities regularly. Dentist suggested it may be because I had deep teeth grooves. Not sure how accurate that was but I got a water flosser as a Christmas gift one year. Teeth always felt super clean. lol
I’ve been looking into water floss for ages now as I absolutely hate flossing. Whenever I floss, the string always gets stuck between the teeth and it really really hurts. I often cannot reach the back teeth as well and I end up spending a very very long time just trying to floss. However, my parents think water flossing products are usless and a waste of money, so even if I purchase one with my own money I would still get scolded. I still plan on getting one soon though, I really really need to floss without feeling like my teeth are being pulled out every time
I’ll second that I’m really bad at flossing too borderline clueless we’ll that’s how it feels. My teeth feel like they’re so close together I also have the same problem as you with it getting stuck. Ordered a water pick of Amazon should be here tomorrow. My dentist recommended me to get one after a long telling off about how bad I am at flossing 😂😂😂 if your anything like me get a water flosser because I couldn’t do a worse job with normal floss if I tried 😂😂
I find flossing picks very helpful half inch of floss on stick easy to put in the back and control the action.I use a water pick but one or twice a week I smell the floss to see if I have a area that needs attention.I swear by keep certain bacteria out of that area increases your health .Teeth are a good sign of genetic superiority.Teeth are a mirror of good genetics and good health .
Thanks for this tip Doctor. I have a last bit of gum left on my wisdom tooth. Water flossers helps me to clean any food particles stuck there. One question - Can we use water flosser once everyday?
I have been using string floss and water pik but the string floss is such a big hassel. But I still use it. I use flossing more then the water pik. You can't really get water stuck in between your teeth though. I know its not plauge or tarter because I just had a teeth cleaning. Going to get me some waxed dental floss.
Great question. There is not research to show this yet. You are only apply comfortable water pressure to your gums. This water pressure is very different than the mechanical pressure of bristles from your hand. When brushing with your hand, it’s best to not grip the whole handle with your hand. Instead hold the brush with your thumb, index, and middle finger for a gentle brushing pressure. Because brushing too hard really doesn’t so much damage to your teeth in time! Hope that helps!
My 3 year daughter gt black stains on her molar teeth , do brush two times then too gt stains. And do not eat candies. How could get rid of this ? Kindly reply.
@@aizel_punnuse baby teeth do eventually fall out….but baby molars are present all the way up to about 12 years old. So if she is only 3 year old with cavities….there will be a big infection if you wait and she will be in a lot of pain. So it would be better to take care of it while it’s small. It would be cheaper and less traumatic for her.
Whats wrong with doing both all the time. I’ve been doing it for over 40 years as well as using an electric tooth brush. It will keep you out of the dentist’s office
im late but i just got braces and i was wondering if a waterpik is better to use than a string floss because im quite lazy at flossing but imma still use string floss for my front teeth and since my back teeth r a hassle imma use a waterpik
I have a small mouth, so it's hard for even dentists to reach my molars lol I can't reach the in-betweens there with just string floss. Would you say investing in a water flosser would work for me?
I'm torn, while for the most part flossing works well for me the under/back wires behind my front top/bottom teeth from braces make it very difficult to use floss for those spaces so I usually skip those. Also, what do you think of dHAP? Is it as good as fluoride?
Yes the retainer wires make it almost impossible to floss...so a water flosser would help in those areas. Do you mean nHAp (nano-hydroxyapatite)? I do believe it to be is as effective as fluoride as clinic studies show. I use both.
My doctors says that my wisdom teeth is growing in at an angle that is damaging my molers. Causing me to get cavities between my molers and wisdom teeth. Its so far down that i dont hink regular flossing is working. Would water flossing be helpful in this case or still not?
I had my wisdom tooth grow in sideways and caused a cavity in the molar as well. had to get the wisdom tooth removed, cut the infected part of the tooth, and have it filled. Once the decay starts it will only get worse if you don't get it professionally treated. The longer you leave it the more it will cost you ( tooth extraction, health, and money). Based on my experience flossing doesn't help because it only cleans the surface and between your teeth but won't heal a decaying tooth. Hopefully that helps
I'm extremely disappointed. I was hoping one of these would completely replace floss strings, so I can save money, and still maintain dental hygiene in a pandemic worse then covid. I want to build independence from suppliers that may be exhausted or shutdown. What to do if I can't get my hands on flosspicks or strings?
In long run, which one is better for teeth regular floss or Water Flosser? Water Flosser can erode enamel of teeth or expose gum of infection in long period of time?
Hi Riona! An electric toothbrush will help get most of the plaque off. But to clean in between your teeth...you need to floss or use a water flosser. Hope that helps!
Riona Jade aww I’m sorry you feel scared. But it may be specific to your case...so your dentist would know best. It’s common for the lower front teeth to build up the most and the fastest. Do you feel like your mouth is dry or do you have a lot of saliva?
For more than 3 years now i use both methods every month i do deep floss but for daily drive i do water floss and i got the best result of this till this day.
Omg, I've never thought about putting a little toothpaste on the floss before using 😲. Thank u so much
I would use water flossing more than regular flossing. Regular flossing is time consuming and hard to use on wisdom teeth.
Great job! Do whatever you need to do to keep those gums healthy!

Hi Dre!
Yes having deep grooves makes your more susceptible to pit and fissure cavities.
Hope that helps!
@@TeethTalkwithDrLisa not at all miss vague
I have deep grooves and my dentist is going to put fillings to make them less deep? If that makes sense
I use a Waterpik Water Flosser and an Oral B electric toothbrush

Yea that’s a great area to use it. You can use it as much as you need it. Just as long as your gums are not irritated by it. Hope that helps!

and if you run out of toys at home, you can use it as a water gun, lol🤣 It is a powerful thing! Great video Dr. Lisa.

Thanks for the info, Dr. Lisa!

@@TeethTalkwithDrLisa I’m been flossing since I was a kid. Water flossing may be cool time to time though.
I use both. I use regular floss when there's a food that's really stuck

Yes it will help. But it doesn’t substitute that you still need to floss to remove the bacteria in the contacts between teeth.
Hope that helps!
Super cool thank you Dr Lisa you’re the best
