  • Trekking in the Tatras mountains. Our first hike from Zakopane up to Czarny Staw Gasienicowa and on to climb Mount Kościelec.
    It was a full day hiking. Exacting but very rewarding with incredible views from the summit of Kościelec.
    I followed an excellent blog post written by Earth Trekkers. Click on the link below for details.

    There's something about being higher up (whichever country it may well be) amidst the high heat of a sunny clear Summer's day - at same time seeing the remains of ice and the snow in the foreground...that contrast that dynamic that, it is hard to put into words sometimes, but you've done it again!
    Lee's final push to the very summit, again you make it look easy however in stark reality it is far from exactly that..high UV, physical aspect, respectful of other climbers, unkown territory indeed list goes on! And best news is mission accomplished. Honestly, brill vlog part lost count!
    Right at the very end directly by the minibus I honestly thought for a second it drove off without Lee, Mandy casually waving back whilst reading her book haha! Sorry, just my zany sense of humour. Am pretty sure the driver said a swear word as well, perhaps he was openly explaining his hate for those luggage cases with those noisy irritating wheels v cobbles ;-)

      Haha.. Thanks for your kind words and support. It really was a thrilling climb but quite a challenging day in all. I was a broken man by the time we got out. Couldn't believe it was pretty much 10 hours on my feet in all. Calf and quad muscles had seized up by the next day and it took me 2 days to recover. Maybe I'm getting too old for this lark! 😆😆. A few beers that night and I slept like a baby!

    Great climb&trekking vlog. Next time you are in Poland, try Chochołowska and Kościeliska valley . It's hard to describe how gorgeous these valleys are.

      Thanks Maciek for your advice. I absolutely loved the week I spent exploring this part of the Tarta and would definitely come back to see more. We loved the beautiful wooden architecture around Zakopane too.

    Looks great up there. I'm half tempted to fly over from the UK as flights are still quite reasonable. Just back from Scotland and Ben Nevis hike which was a 7 hour day. Mt Kościelec looks a bit more technical by the end - how much climbing did you have to do?

    • @FrugalTravellers
      @FrugalTravellers  3 года назад +2

      I'd definitely recommend coming here if you like bagging the Munro's! Plenty of great hiking options for day trips out of Zakopane. It is a good 9-10 hour hike up to Kościelec and back but not too technical. Just a bit of scrambling the last few hundred metres. You just have to be lucky with timing for the weather as it is very changeable at that altitude and you don't want to be covered in cloud. On a good day the scenery is cracking!

    • @torotaxi1
      @torotaxi1 3 года назад +2

      @@FrugalTravellers 9-10 hours sounds more than Ben Nevis but is still quite attainable. I guess it's pretty hot this time of year so an early start is the best option. It looks quite busy but looks like you left later than everyone else!

    • @FrugalTravellers
      @FrugalTravellers  3 года назад +2

      @@torotaxi1 Yes, very busy here this time if year on the lower paths but still not too many up on the summit. The sun is brutal and little shade so take plenty of water, sunblock and a hat.

    • @FrugalTravellers
      @FrugalTravellers  3 года назад +1

      We left Poland on 15 July - are now in Vilnius, the beautiful capital of Lithuania. Making videos is a hobby for me so I am normally 1-2 months behind... I haven't even started on my Kiev and Lviv videos from February!!!
