Also my elementary school banned them. Sadly I didn't hold onto them after my childhood but thanks to ebay I've been reunited with a brand new box of unoponed series 3 and 7 and I got a complete series 3 including all color variations (color of the number on the card) in mint condition. Why is nostalgia so powerful? I also bought 6 original 80s arcade machines lol. I can't believe there's original 80s GPK cards still brand new in the boxes, crazy... Not sure I have it in me to open up any of the wax packs, something cool about having an entire box since my local stores had a 3 pack limit per customer.
I was not born in the 80s or before so I never knew anything about gpk until one day I was watching yt on a candy store that sold vintage ones. Then later that day I saw a pack of We Hate the 90s and started to collect them. I went to that candy store and now I have a collection a little over 300! Now at 40 years old I just now got around to collecting them again so I'm basically wearing Ebay out buying them here in 2020 but I did manage to snag several boxes of the new 35th anniversary ones at Wally World.
I freakin loved these things. My brothers and friends would trade them. We'd go to my dads on the weekend and walk to the corner store and buy them. Just dug out a small pile from my garage yesterday.
I bought my first set of GPK cards at a flea market in the early 90s. Series 14. I have been a collector ever since.
