Sorry to hear you've been going through some trauma. I hope you are feeling better now. I know it hurts, and when it happens it's difficult to feel hopeful, but remember it does start to get better very soon and you will be so glad you stayed on top of the situation. You will feel stronger after a while. On the subject of Winterhalder & Hofmeier, yes it's a German company, and my comparison with Smiths Enfield was to point out how thick and heavy the plates of the W&H movement were, compared to the much lighter movements from Smiths. American OG clocks often have very loose pivots, and adjusting the pallets can be very tricky. Rebushing is often a good idea. I have a few American type movements that would benefit from rebushing. I had to put ten new bushes in my Brewster & Ingrahams OG before it would even tick or strike! Good to see you still going, Luka. Keep on going and don't give up! :)
Thank you, Tommy :) I appreciate your kind words and hopefully, with some help from my family, I'll get over this situation (In fact, I think that I am able to move on at this point). My OG clock does indeed need some new bushes... especially on the fly. The escapewheel pivot hole has also slightly enlarged over time and I've discovered that I might not be able to adjust the pallet height. If I really tried to do that, I'd probably break the brass extension that hold the pallets in place. :/
In the vesna, the attached move often breaks; it can be repaired or replaced. Be careful, keep the pallets on shellac; when washed in alcohol, it will dissolve. Jantar's springs often fall apart, buy copper wire and wrap them around them. Here are the topics on jantar:
