She was on the Queen Elizabeth, sailing from Southampton on April 15, 1965 to New York when I immigrated to the U.S. It was fascinating to see her around the ship from time to time.
Brilliant hearing an interview with anyone who'd so much as MET Ellen Terry. Wow. Not that the glorious Hermione requires justifying on any terms but her own. Thank you.
In 1944 Hermione Gingld joined our ship in Port Said together with Chilli Boucher and Harry Roy & orch.Serving wiith the Royal Marines I used to mount a guard 24/7 on he Cabin until we reached England. She gave talks about her life in showbiz to our lads on the mess deck.
lain: I am wondering if she ever completed her autobiography? She had told Merv Griffin earlier that she would never write one... She appeared with The San Francisco Opera in about 1974. I have a reel to reel recording of the performance and she was hilarious, of course! She had the speaking role of "The Duchess of Krackenthorp" (sp?) in "The Daughter Of The Regiment" with Beverly Sills...I think that I am going to have that transferred to a CD... How wonderful for you that you are a descendant! She was such a splendid lady!
Yes, Bell, Book and Candle is a wonderful movie - perfectly cast, funny, engaging, visually beautiful and also very poignant in its way. One of my favorites.
Hermione Gingold would come often to Alexander's Department Store on Lexington Avenue where I worked. Checks of a certain amount had to be approved and that is how I met her. She was very sweet and polite. I have fond memories of her.
This fantastic one-of-a-kind lady is mistaken. She and Billy De Wolfe did indeed do that sketch on TV. I was there. I still think about her sister in Ceylon. Looking for it is how I got to be here today (haven't turned it up yet). An unforgettable moment in my young life, causing my father to practically wet his pants laughing. And 55+ years later I'm still laughing at the memory. She may have also done it with Ed Wynn, but I didn't see that one. Billy De Wolfe was almost as funny as she was, and someone should FIND THAT CLIP AND PUT IT UP HERE!!! Hey Mr. Great Grandson -- how about some help here?
Hermiony Gingold embarked on my ship 1944 in port Said Egypt with Chili Bouchier,I was serving with the Royal Marines and responsible for mounting a guard on their cabin they gave talks on the mess decks about the film industry & a Great Caberate with Harry Roys Band,Harry Cleminson Stafford.
Well I'm old enough to remember her in her hayday( and I've never had to spell that) when she was sharper and funnier and much more sharp tongued than here. I know you can still get the DVD which included the skit with Billy de Wolfe. "What did you think of New York Ms Gingold?" "Well first of all there's the sky line and then that enormous statue of John Murray Anderson."
3:01 What is the definition of Loyalty, in relation to friends, friends for life? She doesn't say. I think that the notion of any _loyalty_ from friends, is an wish full fantasy. o0o
@@BlytheWorld1972 Yes I wonder why. I believe she has grandchildren living. I think her son Leslie moved to Scotland and had two boys..sure I read that somewhere.

Wonderful she was always fabulous in all her movies.
She had a bubbling personality. I don't suppose we will hear about any trouble it might have gotten her into. Her happiness was the important thing.
Such a delightful and interesting woman.
Where can I hear her brilliant tale of "my sister, who is from Ceylon, and who is a masseuse. Don't mind if I dooo"?
Talk about a colorful person!
I adore her!

Did she have the same stylist as Jon Pertwee?
She's unapologetically candid.
He's likely the worst interviewer I've ever seen.
Are any of her sons still living id like to contact one of them .
I know that one of her sons died quite young in the 1960s or early 1970s...
Both died
