Shadows of Brimstone! I love the stories in Arkham cards and when your decks get going and it feels like you’re working something out or getting something done even if that’s just evading an enemy or getting a couple of clues that’s great, but too often it’s tearing everything you’re doing apart and leaving you struggling to play. You could argue it’s the Arkham way, but the board games and Eldritch have never made me feel like that even when the dice haven’t gone my way all game.
Brimstone on the other hand has overloaded randomness so much that it seems to even out, through the tables and fights and tests and random draws from so many decks it’s not only always been fun but somehow makes these little accidentally cinematic or funny (or both) moments happen all the time. That said, I’ve played Brimstone less than 10 times and Arkham cards nearly 100 so I’ve had less time to be annoyed by things 😀 plus I haven’t had chance to play Brimstone since before Christmas and I’m desperate to!

@@slickerdrips Thanks for the analysis - I have limited space in the house and so stopped keeping up with the Brimstone expansions - I have (quite rightly) to keep my wife sweet as I think she'll probably have had enough of me if I turn the house into a toyshop. So I bought some of the Arkham games and as they take up less space, was thinking of selling the Brimstone. However, I tried a solo run of Brimstone and my affection for the game was restored.
I use a few simple house rules for the 'Town Phase' which uses the map and gives the bandits various territories - and on a given mission I use only one or two 'guest' enemy packs in a self-built campaign theme (their threat cards shuffled into the top three of the appropriate threat deck - that way a high chance the 'guest' enemy will make an appearance and saves having to hunt for a given enemy in the full-on random version of the game. Currently holding back off selling Brimstone (and Swamps of Death and Forbidden Fortress and all the Mission Packs) - much to my wife's despair. I think I'll have to bite the bullet and look into paying for storage.
