The thing is, I don't think you really need to be apologetic. You shouldn't be. If anything, you're saluting the Corvette in what at one point was the way of the future with a 4 rotor that GM blessed. If you had a GM 4 Rotor I'm sure you'd consider using it. But your unique experience with 4 rotors I believe gets you not just a blessing, but a pass and even a high five from us Vette enthusiasts.
@@WowCreativeUsername As long as we can keep stuffing LS engines into Miatas, even unto the explosion of our sun, I can painlessly welcome several Rotary-Vettes, even hug their owners and builders. Its warranted at this point with how smooth Miata LS conversions have gotten, like Tom's Project Thunderbolt. Its high time a 'Vette gets a factory-alike rotary swap.
What is rumored is it's still in a wharehouse somewhere marked for scrap but hasn't been processed or found yet since on the system it's gone mia...good ol gm losing their shit
So happy that most of the REAL Corvette Enthusiast really embrace and understand your project Rob. I remember reading about the 4 Rotor Aerovette in High School so it’s almost like a dream come true you making a modern version of Zora’s Dream.
Nah, now he knows what is he aiming them for, One of these days he will actually be mad enought to build an all custom rotor with bigger spining doritos
I think the Corvette/LS community is willing to tolerate Rob's brand of madness so long as he continues to be the only one practicing it, kinda like having a circus sideshow... all fun until the freaks get loose 😂 (I say that with love, you're the best kind of freak Rob)
Rob, during your last video and looking at the C8 i thought to myself,"Rob should put a 4 rotor in a Delorean." No i found out Delorean was working on the midship corvette. Sounds like another awesome project.
You can tell Robs a true auto enthusiast, something that is kind of lost in modern culture where people are so brand locked it's not even funny. The same can be said for the people at Holly and the museum though, real auto enthusiast that care about history and at the end of the day just want to have fun with others appreciating history and building/driving stuff. If you wanna see hate, I took the shell of my 99 Trans Am that I ended up selling the LS1 out of to a friend that was building a restomod gen 1 firebird and ended up putting in a Mercedes OM606 Turbo Diesel with a 603 mechanical injection pump with a GS6-53DZ out of a 530D BMW. It was either that or a Turbo M54B30 BMW, basically what I had on hand sitting in the shop that I've also worked on the most. A lot of people around here (rural midwest) get real upset when they figure out it's a Merc I6 TD (I think the biggest problem is 6 cylinders for some reason) but the mechanics and builders that actually build stuff love it. I love my fuel economy and 400+hp/510+lbft of torque car.
Very surprised to see the two rotor in the USA.. i didnt know it had crossed the pond & great to see the original GM engine. So cool what youre doing, im looking forward to seeing & hearing your 4 rotor Vette when its done.
Rob I'm new to this channel but I'm soooo excited to watch this build. Having owned an LS here in Australia, I can tell you that there is a massive following here. I love my rotary's and I think that this will be an exceptional conversion. Kudos to you for undertaking this! Now time to binge watch the rest of the uploads on this channel! 👍
These corvettes have been one of my favourite bucket list cars for the last 15/20 years . They have come a long way and they have turned into one wicked super badass looking car
Last week I drove my buddy's '96 Range Rover with a 4.6l V8 after driving my POS Peugeot for forever and I was like "Oh so this is what acceleration feels like." I felt you Rob when you felt torque 😂
I totally enjoyed this little bit of corvette history and an awesome way to start off your project. Look forward to this build Rob thank you for the great video the people at corvette museum were great too. 👍
I did a tour of the Corvette Museum about 6 months after the sinkhole happened. They had pulled out just a handful of the cars by then. They had that section closed off cause till a big hole in the ground. I need to go back and check it out again now that it is fully open.
Bowling Green KY is really a great place to visit as well, I went to the Corvette Museum shortly after the sinkhole was fixed. It's even better in person believe me
Hey Rob, great video! I think you are earning respect by being as professional as one can be when modifying what some autophiles would consider sacrosanct.
I work at the museum! Katie texted me asking if I knew who you were.. Of course I do! Found out you made a trip to the museum and was bummed that I wasn't able to be there, big fan of yours! Thanks for stopping by!
i subbed because of this project! interesting stuff, donated 10 dollars for the C8 draw, i dont have much money but it looks like a good cause. i hope your repairs go along without too many more restrictions and the parts you need are available. much love from aussie land!
I may be a bit partial being from KY but the Vette Museum is an amazing place. For those interested the Bourbon Trail is also worthy of a trip through ; )
That must feel good. a weird project and it is already in the history. I was born in 73. I just watched an old delorean video, just sitting in a florida guys yard, they are trying to start it (bruce wilson on you tube). I left a comment about using the c8 drivetrain. It really would seem a fitting outcome for the stainless car after seeing this video
I have a C6, used to have a C5, had three 2nd gen RX-7s and one 94 R2. I'm not sure how I feel about this channel but I just can't look away. :) Exciting project!
I love looking at the GM 2 rotor and seeing so many parts from other GM engines: starter, thermostat housing, distributor, etc. Like everything GM does, they took a new design and fit as many existing parts to it as they could.
I need to go to the museum when it opens it’s been probably 13 years since I’ve been I’ve never saw the sink hole or anything, I own a 07 corvette now so it would be perfect to go and check out all the cars now that I’m old enough the appreciate them the last time I was there I would have been 8.
I love the look of the two rotor! I think it would be awesome to replicate the decals and badging on the two-rotor to match and pay tribute on your C8! Or replicating badging from the Aerovette if you get a chance to see it!
Our autobody class saw the first c8 to be sold at the corvette place in Kentucky after visiting the corvette museum, they didnt allow us to take any pictures of it, and said if we did they could sue us personally. It was cool to see. My favorite color for the c8 is the yellow btw, it looks amazing. edit: a few days later we got out because of covid, weird timing for sure.
My favorites the red w/black trim. The rapid blue w/black trim is in close second place. Or both in reverse. Black w/red trim & black w/rapid blue trim & accents.

Very cool, I'm excited about seeing a mid-engine rotary street car. *cough cough* Mazda pay attention. RX9 - 3 rotor mid-engine twin turbo, I'm just saying it would be bad-ass.
*Kid:* "Dad can we get that C8 vette?"
*Rob:* "We already have that at home"
*The C8 vette at home:* 2:09
And just like that, you HAVE to make a "four rotor" sticker in an 80s font and stick it on the C8 when its done!
Most definitely would be such a historic touch!
Yeah! In front the lights, 70's font
I want that font on the car too!!
Yea man, the approach here is cool, and that would be a super cool finishing touch! Either way, I'm glued.
Good idea

Lmao that BANNED sticker from Holley!
That was brilliant!
