Kubota Backhoe BH77 Cylinder Problem Fixed !!!

  • My boom cylinder seems to not be working correctly. The second example in the video is probably the clearest. I think when I push the control forward the main Boom should lift the tractor off the ground? And it does not. It seems as though it reduces the affective digging force by not engaging correctly. So I replace the relief valve on the main boom hydraulic valve and it fixes the problem.

    Update 7/20/21
    Picked up new relief valve and installed. No difference. Still will not pick up back of machine. It starts to lift and then releases. So I keep researching.
    Thanks. Mine just started doing this morning putting in posts for fence. My first thought was relief valve but was not sure which one it was. I have same tractor and backhoe. You saved me a ton of time. I will let you know after I change it how I make out.

    Thanks for the video. It helped me figure out my problem.
    I have an L-39, the hydraulic thumb was acting up, no closing power. It's only got 500 hrs on it, the thumb, maybe 3 hrs. I took the relief valve off, the little plunger was stuck in. Called for a new one, $800-$900, depending how stupid I look I think. I took it apart, simple inside, cleaned it, put it back on, fixed. Never messed with the pressure setting. KEEP THE OLD ONE, it might be fixable.
    Thanks for the video again.

    ive had problems since i bought my Kubota with the BH77 backhoe not working properly. kubota took it for over a month. changed the valve body, came back worked great then same issue you had but mine was the left or right would move slow. kubota took it again!! they actually took it several times. every time it came back same issue with the relief valves. they took it one final time and fixed it. once again worked great and it wont pick up the boom. ive taked the relief valve apart cleaned it and worked. parked it and it dont work again. i havent taken it apart since. when i did clean it there was a piece that was black and looked like a piece of rubber. I'm debating buying a new relief valve like you have since when they took the machine when it was new they did change the relief valve and in about a half hour it had the same issue. I called kubota and they would not do anything.

    Nice to see what those valves look like; and see your resolution after viewing your early video clip on that challenge to figure out. ... Videos like yours along with many informative comments are definitely part of my learning more all the time program 🤔 :+)

    I just ran a kubota backhoe similar to this one, it was a beast for sure. I didn't experience this problem with it, but I will be buying a tractor eventually so good to know how to fix this in case I have a similar problem

    Ok im 2:35 in and im going to say it's either bad packing inside the boom cylinder, or the relief valve in the main loop is faulty???? Ok let me finish watching and see if I'm correct

    How many hours would you estimate you had on the BH77 when you had to replace this relief valve?

  • @stevencanning5648

    My bh77 is doing the same thing , my question is could you not just remove the pressure relief val. and replace it with a plug.? some of the other spools in the same assembly just have plugs.. they work fine without these P.R.val.

    • @DanielWoodell
      @DanielWoodell  3 года назад +2

      Absolutely not!!!! You would overpressure the cylinder in the best case scenario you would blow apart the seals, in the worst case catastrophic failure of the cylinder or potentially pump!!!

    Have an outrigger that goes out on its own. Lever is hard to push to retract the outrigger also?

    • @DanielWoodell
      @DanielWoodell  Год назад +1

      In that specific case, I would think that it was the spool inside of the spool valve. Usually when the handle is hard to operate it’s because an O-ring on the spool is failed or become damaged in someway.

    Are there 4 relief valves where there is one for each direction or are there only 2 ?
    Anyway move the relief valves between the 2 circuits and see if problem moves
    If it does I would but 2 new relief valves

    Had same problem on an old dump truck. Bed would start to raise and then fall right back down. I was about to replace whole pump before I realized problem. How well does your backhoe work while performing double functions? I've ran several backhoes and excavators but never a tractor mounted hoe. Everyone I've ever seen run one has been real jerky. I was curious if it's because there's not enough flow to efficiently perform double functions...or if everyone I've watched run one is just inexperienced. By your video you seem to operate yours pretty smoothly. I wasn't sure if the speed of video was just hiding the it though. Considering buying one within the next year to use around farm so I'd really like to hear your input.

    Having the same problem except it is relief valve malfunctioning when i swing the boom to the left. Slow and No power. The relief valve part costs $433.00 which seems like robbery to me. Any thoughts on how to repair the relief valve.

    My buddy just went through this. These problems are exactly what he is experiencing. We replaced the valve and it still is acting the same. It worked fine for a few hours now it's back to acting the same way. Buddy reports might even be worse. Any ideas what it might be?
