Snaefell Mountain Course 2013
Rider: [1] WeeemRCB (Sco)
Lap time: 53.57.000
Average speed: 41.964 mph (67.535 km/h)
:)
Ha! Wicked :D :D
WeeemRCB
You're about 90mph off a McGuinness average! ;)
I love this video, like you say at the start, all the on-board laps are just a blur, it's nice to see it in "real life." I've watched the whole 54 minutes start-to-finish about twenty times. I want to do it soon (some "real life" laps - not the actual TT haha).
Peace out man :)
Camberwell86 Yea Just about :)
It was my first lap ever, so taking it easy :) It's worth going, but even slowing down for speed restrictions, it's still damn addictive.
Of the whole 37miles, Quarry bends were my favorite :)
@@Camberwell86 Did you ever get to ride the circuit?
RUclips recommendations are often useless, rarely good, but this one is a gem.
Thank you. That means a lot and I'm glad you liked it :)
There's a 4K version too if you'd prefer crispy hi-def? The link to it is in this one's description
I'm not gonna lie, I didn't "watch" it all but I did listen to all of it.
I don't think I've ever watched a video so long, it must be love.
Weeeem is smooth.
I change my riding if there's someone behind me, silly really.
Stay so I can come and visit you.
Thank you for suffering that miserable weather. For no good reason I'd like to get an overall feel for this course and your video is great for that. My only visit to the TT was in the mid nineteen-sixties, I'll never forget it.
very cool video. Thanks for the effort. This is exactly what i've been looking for.
I go every year, and wish I had seen this before my first TT. I recommend anyone going for the first time to watch this. Nice video mate, well done.
One of the longest and one of the absolute BEST!! Thanks for sharing your experience. Defo on my to do list! I think also that the unrestricted parts have always drawn my attention to it as a place to go lol ;)
You forget about the impact the wind must have on the racers over the mountain. Thx for the vid buddy-really interesting to see the island like this!
Cheers Crumble :)
Love this video, i'm pretty obsessed with IOM TT racing but never been able to go, lovely to see the course driven at sane speeds, it feels like a different place. Its on the bucket list to ride the course like this, one day!
8:56 I was literally yelling at the screen, "Verandah!!" Awesome video by the way! I've often driven around the track but I've never gone this slow. That's the problem when all your Dad's mates are speed freaks!
Nice one Weeem, such a pleasure to "ride" with you around THE mountain course; cheers!
Cheers Michael.
Glad to share the views :)
'Best civilian onboard yet! I recently came back from TT practice and race week and enjoyed early morning rides around the course.
cagivashed Cheers amigo :)
thank you very very very much for your effort to show us what it mean to race on this track. great idea. was there for the classic and only now i figured that i would have to come back for more
Would love to get out that way and spend a week riding that track! Looks like a nice sleepy place!
Lovely to see the Island course like this; thanks for the opportunity. I live in NZ (although born and raised in the UK), which is about as far away from the IOM as you can get, but as a lifetime biker (71 now!) doing TT week is top of my Bucket List..... Must get another Lotto ticket tomorrow..... :-)
Cheers Kathryn :)
The island is waiting ... you just need to be there to experience it :)
WeeemRCB Indeed.... all I need is about $8-10,000 NZ (getting on for 5K quid). I remember the old classics on the radio broadcasts from the Island; Bill Lomas on that amazing V8 500 Moto-guzzi in 1957, Phil Read (Yamaha), Jim Redman and Mike Hailwood (Honda), Hailwood on the MV-4, the 4-cylinder Gileras of the late 50's ridden by Geoff Duke (and later in the early 60s a brief resurrection with Benedicto Caldarella in the saddle) all in a great concord of Norton Manxs, Matchless GG50s, AJS 7Rs and of course the occasional 'special'. There was the emergence of Walter Kaaden's amazing MZ two strokes from East Germany which were so much faster than the DKWs due to his invention if the tuned exhaust, and the promising (if brief) career of Kim Newcombe on the König a bit later on.
Halcyon days... Gods... I sound OLD [made in 1942]!!!.. Need to get on the CBR600, which like me is an oldie but a goodie [1988].. and go for a burn!.... weather is coming right here...
Such a pity that the IOM is not in the WC round any more. It's a circuit that surely sorts riders out, and it looks as if the bikes raced there are not materially slower that the MotoGP bikes that race for the WC.
One day, before they pat my belly with a spade, I hope to be there.. xo
enjoyable , first time I ever saw so much of the course.Legal speeds do have their advantages, thanks
Thanks for this. I'll be there for August, but just can't get enough of the circuit.
No worries. Glad you liked it :)
Thanks for posting this, gives a nice perspective of the road course and the towns it travels through. I made a flight sim based motorcycle simulated ride of the Isle of Man TT course in FlightGear.
this video is an hour long, but worth every second
Cheers Matias :) There's a 4k version too (link in the description) which I did for extra clarity
Good one, Weem - usually all you see in vids of the course is your life flash before your eyes , lol. Nice to see the course this way.
thanks for the lap, really enjoyed it,felt i was sitting on behind you !!!
This is such a great video! It makes me realise the talent and bravery of the riders.
Been there twice myself during TT, best experience in the world. Should have gone this year, but then the sh*t hit the fan
What a great and very unique video! Thanks for posting it. It's the first "legal speed" video on the Mountain Course that I've seen, and it provides an interesting look at everything. I wish I'd seen it before going to the 2015 TT. While I was there, two of my home-stay house mates offered me their Kawasaki to solo around the circuit as a birthday gift. I had to decline their kind offer since, being from the States, I'd never ridden or driven anything on the left side of the road, and I haven't done any serious riding for about 30 years, plus the fact that the Kawa was their primary transportation back to the mainland. I can just see myself calling them, explaining that I'd wrapped their bike around a tree, but thanks for the birthday present!
That was very generous of them :)
Exactly! Especially since I'd only known them for a few days. One slight error. It was a Suzuki, and I'm sure they'd be insulted if I didn't correct that. I also wanted to add more thanks for the time and effort you obviously took to produce this video and the corners list. If it's OK with you, I'd like to link to your video from some TT articles I'm writing for Examiner.com in the States.
Chuck Lane
Of course you can ... not a problem.
I appreciate you asking first :)
Really enjoyed your 'normal' speed lap of the island. Subscribed! :D
Would be nice to see a video with descriptions that was taken on Mad Sunday so no oncoming traffic :-)
Cool, got friends at Onchan and been many times, I tried to record my 'normal speed' lap last year (2015) but there was s-o-o-o much wind noise, camera mounted on the fairing. Well done mate. P.S. Only got back on Friday last, 8th April, with my daughter and we did a 44 minute, not too shoddy on open roads.
Great video. Thanks for this perspective. I'm absulotly sure, that the Isle of Man is worth a traverling without the races. This seems to be an awesome aera.
Frank Matthieß Cheers Frank. It was great having the roads to myself although I'm sure it's more exciting with other bikes buzzing around during race week :)
My actual plan is to visit the Man with my girlfriend to get my first impressions of the area and the people. One topic is to make at least one lap with the car to share it with my girlfriend. The second time, i want to come to the Man, it will be racetime at the moutaincourse. That time i want to go by motorcycle.
Frank Matthieß The Peel to Kirk Michael coast road was ... amazing.
Was also unrestricted speed and one of my favourite parts of the island.
You can see it on my "Riding back from the Isle of Man" vid:
ruclips.net/video/4binyknnUlg/видео.html
Great video and, thank you for the opportunity to see IOM outside of the TT speeds :) Hopefully in next year or two will have chance to pass this course on my own :)
Brilliant vid! Impeccable annotation too.
Keyboard Dancers Cheers .... took a while to do :D
so this would be your personal "superstock race" XD, very beautiful place! i would love to travel over there at some point and be a tourist
Thanks Matias. It is a special place f'sure :)
I don't know where the road goes! Nice one Weeem
Greetings from PNW USA - been following you via Baron for a bit. You have a great heart, which is what matters. Wonderful to see you do the IOM. Great to see at trawler (fish trolling = kerb crawling) speed compared to "Milky" pace. Brings things into perspective. Please -encourage more - details let's all of us appreciate the island more. From the land of Bonneville Salt Flats - Cheers
Cheers Stu.
I did another recording at the end of the same day. It was ..... different (10min faster), but unfortunately the camera packed up after 10 minutes, so it lives only in my head :)
Fortunately I have a backup camera, which I used in the "leaving the island" video starting from Peel, up the west coast and then over to the Douglas ferry terminal. It's more of a country road than the A1 (circuit) and the scenery on the west is .... lush :)
Brilliant video - The course at legal speed - Thanks for sharing
My pleasure John :)
Excellent production. Last time I rode around "Thee Island" was in '64 on my very own rebuilt Ariel Arrow. Don't remember much since then but your film brought back great memories. Btw, your bends look a lot straighter than J.McGuinness' ones. I wonder why. Thanks for the experience.
Glad you liked it amigo :)
Thanks Pop.
I was looking around for a guide like this, but the only ones I could find were at race speeds..... so I made this for others to share/use :)
Thank you very much Brother for this video from Russia! 🤝🤝🤝
Epic!!! Can't wait to get there myself next yr! Roads look a lot different than at 150+
Once again,thanks for sharing 😄
+Jordan Jones Aye fella, it's not bad ... not bad at all :)
+WeeemRCB looks beautiful there. Just need to find the best place to stay. I will be arranging a sponsored ride next yr for Macmillan cancer. Starting dwn south,up north to a friends house in Scotland then over to the Isle of Man! I already have over 200+ riders who are going to follow 😄
Will be recording EVERYTHING!
Also going to ask "baron von grumble" and the "crumble" if they want to take part. Maybe you could join in the fun??
Our local papers are going to cover everything for us too! 😄
Jordan Jones
Cheers fella. Let us know closer to the time :)
Really nice video, especially at a normal speed which gives another perspective of the TT course. I would love to do this at some stage, must make a plan!!!
Do it. You won't regret it :)
Now go and learn all the corner names, I have been going every year since 1974 and know them all off top of my head, WeeemRCB that's your homework now. Good video.
+Phil Clark Cheers Phil.
I can remember every little bump of a corner, but forget my own name if it wasn't stitched into my underpants :D
(My real name is Marks & Spencer) ;)
the only person i could think about while watching your video was joey dunlop thank you and stay safe
Tommy Dougherty Cheers bud. Keep the sticky side down :)
Hello there WeeemRCB
Great video for the TTIOM, Isle of Man and commentary while riding well and safely (Polite on the public roads at the same time)(Well appreciated)
I have lived here for the 10 years (expat from South Africa) and seen many a video
Really Liked yours.
Hope you do not mind me sharing it with my friends back in South Africa via Twitter and Facebook
Thank you
Ed
Ed Wresltey Hutton Thanks for the comment Ed and thanks for sharing it on :)
Only my pleasure WeeemRCB
How are you and when you coming back ???
I am so expat and friends in South Africa keep asking for videos and photographs of the TTIOM
Really cool and different video. Thanks so much for posting! This on my bucket list.
The Verandah were connor had his big off, i am half way through and loving it mate, cuppa tea and round 2 me thinks.
Proper guide mate well done.
Great idea listing the key points and timings in your video and having that little map top right is a nice touch. Its going to be a great help preparing for my first visit this year.
I already had a few locations in mind (Creg-ny-Baa, Sulby Straight, Ballagh Bridge, Ramsey Square/Hairpin) and your guide has confirmed them and added a couple more.
I'll be watching this a few more times yet to decide which ones for practice week and which for the racing - any suggestions?
Top stuff fella, subscribed, thanks.
+339paulh Cheers fella. I did it 'cos I needed it before I got there too :D (I got so lost)
I wasn't there for practise or race week, so had the roads to myself :) Not sure the best place to go for either, but once you're there then some of the regulars will be able to tell you the best places and when/how to get there.
Cheers - Weem
Hi, excellent video. I am going back there tomorrow for the Classic. Duncan J
+Duncan Jones Nice :)
Thanks a lot - really helpful for understanding the course...many thanks! cheers from Toronto
The normal road bit was easier/faster in reverse, but coming down the mountain was sooooo steep & twisty compared to the fast & smooth Kate's Cottage/Creg-Ny-Ba side.
Would be borderline suicidal doing it in reverse :D
Yeah nice video good job loved it,quiet pleasant ride
Good effort mate, very useful indeed. Did the mountain earlier.....didn't even remember doing it due to all the attention and chaos around me. Good to recap with your video :)
anthonyrgray Cheers Mr.G
I wish the last lap of the day had recorded on the camera... just for my viewing. Tearing over the mountain it was about 10 minutes quicker :)
I imagine it's much harder to relax on the road during the TT weeks with all the extra traffic.
Awesome as usual dude! Thanks :D
Great job. Very interesting.
Yep I know what you mean, I like from the waterworks up the mountain the most!
It's true I had no idea :)
But it was weird approaching some bits and suddenly you have a flash of familiarity from watching years worth of on-board race footage :)
great vid, enjoyed alot. cheers.
Love the TT
good vid mate must have took hours to upload and edit,, i couldnt resist watching it all as it brought back memories, i went 5 yrs ago ,, 2 wks before tt wk so i had the mountain to myself saw 186 full bore down to the creg with the misses on the back of my superblackbird,, all being well will be going next tt as i will be 50 yrs old and hoping to take my two sons,,for a lifetime memory as theyve never been before, either way good stuff, out on my bike tomorrow to try an set up my mic on my new drift camera first id i did last wk was ruined by wind noise so repositioned mic and try again stay safe shane warwickshire
Hey Shane.
This was my first time round, so a bit tamer than 186 :)
With the Drift, set the mic sensitivity to 1.
This lets you talk without blowing the audio ;)
that was my first time round.,,, once i saw the national speed limit sign i got the red mist and rode it like i stole it: by the way that was a fast reply for sure, qestion how long does it take to upload a long vid also what video editing software do u use please thanks shane
shaneweightman
Nutter :) I couldn't do that on a road that I don't know.
I'd only seen random clips from old Duke vids over the years, so I had no idea where I was going or what was around the next corner :)
Plus I'm shit at riding so .... ;)
I use Adobe Premiere Pro to make my vids and the file created for this was around 4.5Gb. It took (I think) just over 20hrs to upload on 8Mb broadband.
well i did the same as you watched a few on bike dvds, but ive been riding bikes since i was 12 nearly 50 so had plenty of experiance, and you dont look like a shit rider to me mate, just be carefull and expect the unexpected and never be a hero there all deas or fucked up and thanks for the reply,, will try and do a short vid in the morning on me old sv650, take care and stay safe shane
I had a great time and there are so many other roads, not just the circuit that are just as amazing. Keep an eye out for the next/last vlog ;)
I've always wondered if the TT guys could do the circuit in reverse, or would they just not compute? haha but anyway that was really fun and you were right, I did enjoy it a lot thanks :D
Good video, see you 2020 at hillberry corner!
VERY COOL !!!!👍👊
Ta 😃
The 4k version I made is a bit .... sharper 👌
ruclips.net/video/nRV8w29sjd4/видео.html
How is it you get such good quality voice sound but with no wind? Is it a GoPro? Which version? Any external mic used? Is it the editing that improves sound quality?
Cheers Matt. This was recorded with my Hero 3 (black). I have a video showing the helmet/setup I was using during this vid.
Cheers BK.
I'm not a fan of long vids myself, but if I could lap the circuit in 12 minutes then I'm in the wrong job ;)
%This was an enjoyale ride though I'm only a pedal cyclist.in terms of ikes.I think in following 5the whole of the video I was trying to recreate a coach trip my then girl friend * I werew offered when on a day trip from lackpool in a wind-up aeroplane she & I were offered either a sojourn down in Poirt Erin or a bus trip round the TT course. I'm glad we choose the latter which gave us some good notion of the isle's scenery & green quality that you mention. It also gave us an hour's stop in Ramsey. This is the truth...with a box caera I t5ook a photo against the sea wallof Ms Nadine Williams as her name was then . I'm no photographer ut it turned out to e a lovely photograph...I wish I still had it now.Such small things get lost in houses but remain in Memory Lane.if you follow my meaning..thanks for this video though my photo will have een taken before England won the world cup! 2Some people are running onto the pitch! They think it's all over.It is now!I much hope this don't offend your flower of Scotland sensibilities. Well done yourself. /rian Cokayne/ Stockport.
This is about the speed I could handle the course at :-D
great video man
very helpful, thanks.
The mountain is better suited to fast riders (I'm not quick anymore :( ), but I really liked the more open country roads like Quarry Bends or Laurel Bank through to Sarah's Cottage
Hey weeem, I am from the island and just started vlogging, was really interesting watching someone else's reaction to the course, glad you appreciated and respected it.
I remember my first lap of the whole course on a ybr125 on mad Sunday TT 08, was scary fun and eye opening.
You planning on coming over again?
Cheers bud :)
I'd like to come back if funds allow, but probably not on TT race week.
Only because it was nice to have the island all to myself :)
Haha yeah its good when it's quiet but the atmosphere during tt is mentally good.
Just hoping to pass my test before tt 14 :-)
Motovlog Mann
Yea... there is that :) but getting over and back is a bit mental unless you plan a year ahead
yeah im just glad I live here so all I have to worry about is making sure im off work
Cheers Lukas.
Hopefully it'll also be a useful guide for someone ... somewhere :D
Top vid fella...Nice One;-)
It's damn addictive....
What can I say ... You made me empty my sack of love 3 times .. Bloody great vid Colin xxxx
Great video Weeem :-)
play at 2x speed and then it's ok :)
Jan Pribyl Aye, that's one way to do it :D
Damn, I'm gonna try that now XD
So you rode the mountain in the mist the day before. How many others were doing the same? Was it safe? Great video!
None that I could see. They all had too much common sense.
It was pretty safe. No heroics. I just took my time to get a feel for it
What bike are you on? Looks like it has a lot of revs to spare
Such a refreshing accent! may I ask? We are buried under on British accents in Canada ..
+kevin johnson Scotland... Family are Edinburgh and I'm Glasgow, so it's a mix ... which I had to soften after I moved to England at 15 :)
+WeeemRCB ...not sure why I said we are buried under on British accents..meant we don't hear it here very often..I have a mix of all the ish's English Irish Scottish .. thanks for gatting back brother
Thx for the vid really interesting
When would you recommend to do the tour, outside of racing and all the crowds, with accommodation widely available??
BrunoGeist If I was to do it again then I'd be looking at the 2 weeks before or after the IOMTT or the Classic TT.
The roads are prepped and the barriers/signs are up and there should be good availability on accommodation.
Hope that helps.
It's on my list;)
Great video mate! At 6-06 (just after commenting on a pretty girl) you say Bay Hales instead of Hay Bales, they can have this effect on men.haha!
Well done brother, tell me you had the map on your tank, you didn't memorise all of that...very cool thanks, now I realy have to take my CBRRR1000 over there..how are the coprs are they easy going??
+kevin johnson They have signs up on the side of the road saying the corner names ;) :D
Bu güzel video için teşekkürler.
Teşekkür ederim arkadaşım
Why do the white lines on the road get all squigly in some places ?
Great video :-)
Cheers Fletch :)
Cheers Ian :)
Cheers SP :)
Epic!
Yea it was a long-un (she said)
Hopefully a useful prep video for people going over there tho :)
Cheers Stewie ;p
Fantastic video,what are you riding?.
2010 Honda CBR1000RR (RR-A)
Cheers Y2T :)
Thanks emir :)
I know thats what you get with commenting before the end :-) but i needed a pit stop
So when are you going to guide us through the corners with an expert view of how to tackle every corner?
Funny ...
Yes I concur,Dr Connors do U concur.,yeah it is insane how fast race speeds are on a race course its visually a lot wider for your eyes so when it tight walls and width changes it overwhelming u don't see or learn or remember anything except the words holy fuck that was fast....
Coolio. (I really can't expound on the comms already left here.)
Great joke about weathercocks right when i'm slurping a cuppa end up half drowning!
I was wondering why this guy is going so slow...
pfft ... Slow on the bike, but I'll have you know that I'm fast asleep ... ;)
