Fantastic information as always just picked up a old burn with a big dent and crack Owner was using it told hold down a tarp I couldn't believe it came wait to get working on it thanks for the info
I am looking at buying a perception shock. I am 5'7" and 160#s. I want a slice boat that I can really throw around, and I found this one cheap to mod out. I was wondering what your opinion is on being over the weight recommendations for a slice boat. Thanks for the videos!
I'd say what is there to really be afraid of? Start slow and see what the boat can or can not handle. Just don't jump in over your head. Worst case you can practice squirts on flat water.
Unless it is directly under the seat or pillars the tracks in Pyranha boats don't have much structure to use as reinforcement. If you're paddling on the Moose I'd be happy to take a look. We may also be on the Ottawa in a few weeks
@@AlexBarham sounds good and yeah it's under the seat area the lady I bought er from definitely overstrapped it to her car I tried putting it in sun but I think I need to do the putting rubber on the bottom like u did in ur video it seems like it would be an easy fix like the one in ur video
@@AlexBarham I just bought this kayak a week ago so kinda new to kayaking tbh so where would I find the rubber to reinforce or how would I go bout getting the materials I need to repair said issue then which bolts on the shiva do I have to remove to access the issue ? 🤔
It isn't rubber, it is minicell foam. Start by finding your local club up there and getting looped in. They will be a big help for learning, and someone up there will have some spare foam.
Hi Alex, I have the same problem with my macho large! Where can I get the foam you are using? Is it sold in different thicknesses? Thanks for the video! Dan
Your Machno came with a roll of sticky-back foam that is perfect for minor indents. Layer as needed, or use a thicker foam. If you can't find something that has peel and stick already on it then just buy a can of spray glue from any hardware store
Hey Alex, how would you go about doing this on an pre contour axiom with the seat track still welded down? Just heat and weight or can I get foam under there somehow?
@@AlexBarham yes, it is under the seat. Would the strips just go under the seat and on top of the seat rail? My first time working on this type of thing. Thanks!
@@pistolpete5365 I would mark the seat location, unbolt the seat and slide it forward. Make a solid foam block that fits snugly where the boat is not deformed on both sides of the center track, then slide it backwards into place. That should push the hull back into place
Simple question, complex answer. If you have a pre-contour Axiom then yes. Contour Axioms have the playboat seats. The tracks are welded to the hull so you can't get under them. What you could do is add a spacer between the hull and the seat to put downward pressure on the hull. Haven't tried it, but it is my best bet on a solution. Mine oil-canned after a season. My solution was to gut the boat and install the full creeker setup like the Rewind is getting. Here's the video. ruclips.net/video/Bxm-F9b8hq0/видео.html

Great video!! Love the actual oil can demonstration/history, which I didn’t know. Also, killer choice on your straight edge! 😎
Thanks Kevin! That little guy showed up at work and I had to bring him home
Thanks man just what I was looking for just picked up a dagger GTX today
No problem 👍
Good advice, thank you.
Glad it was helpful!

Thanks and good luck!
That was very helpful Alex thanks I'll have to try that sometime
Spring is coming bud!!
Hey man, my wavesport is oilcanned and outfitting/seat is shifting left and right. This was super helpful. Where did you get the foam and how thick?
I usually grab it from old outfitting kits.
What thickens of foam did you use here? I have similar dent, would 1/4 inch be too thick? I assume the foam will just compress anyway
Exactly, the foam is going to compress if it is too much. Eyeball and pick something a little thicker than what you are going for

If it hasn't popped out in its own, then yes some encouragement and reinforcement is the solution.

Guessing it has indented under rhe seat? You may be able to wedge foam strips under the seat

I thought the video would be good until i seen the dewalt
Lol I will not apologize for Dewalt. It's how I was raised
Better question. WTF are bottle caps doing in a boat! No glass on the river, fools!
I later found out that this boat made the rounds. No one found it comfortable and it's been passed around through the likely suspects for a few years.
