  • NOMAD SCULPT - subsurface scattering
    Time for another 3d sculpting class with nomad sculpt
    Hopefully you signed up for the Nomad Open Beta program earlier in the year and you may have been able to access these amazing new features. It was open to anyone who applied which is quite rare.
    Subsurface scattering is in the next version! That means we can make skin look much more realistic by faking light passing through it. I will be using this extensively in coming tutorials so a video explaining it is a great start.
    Subsurface scattering (SSS) definition (source Wiki)
    also known as subsurface light transport (SSLT),[1] is a mechanism of light transport in which light that penetrates the surface of a translucent object is scattered by interacting with the material and exits the surface at a different point. Subsurface scattering is important for realistic 3D computer graphics, being necessary for the rendering of materials such as marble, skin, leaves, wax and milk. If subsurface scattering is not implemented, the material may look unnatural, like plastic or metal.

    Do you have an ipad recommendation that is best suited for Nomad these days? Recall some question in one of your videos if the M1 is really utilized by the OS and Nomad.
    With upcoming Apple announcements of ipad and ipad pro, I wonder if it's better to wait or make do with current models.

      Oddly I thought the same. Ive not had a single crash or a slow down in anyway. It’s insane.

    • @SkillipEvolver
      @SkillipEvolver Год назад +1

      @@SouthernGFX I wonder how they're managing it!? I know in raytracing, the CPU demand quickly accelerates in an almost exponential way when you increase the number of light bounces. But that's in a game scene for example where there is much more going on. I would guess maybe in a smaller, contained situation like when you're modeling things are a bit more in control.
      Perhaps it'll be an M1 only feature.. I wouldn't like to say..

    You have good material, but far tooooo long. It will help you grow if you plan ahead better, edit down, work on high density presentation. Many people see the long vid times and pass. Not meant to anger, meant to really help you out.

    • @KommienezuspadtUAC
      @KommienezuspadtUAC Год назад +2

      Completely disagree. I rarely subscribe to anyone on RUclips and I’m subscribed here BECAUSE Glen’s videos are so long and comprehensive. I remember Joe Rogan being told he couldn’t do long format podcasts because no one would watch them. There are still a lot of us that don’t want shorts and TikTok’s.

    • @mikeekim2532
      @mikeekim2532 Год назад

      @@KommienezuspadtUAC I completely could care less as your opinion is lacking credibility and I am bored now with you.

      Thanks Mike. It’s a criticism that gets levelled at me all the time and the algorithm penalises me for it. I share this stuff because I enjoy teaching. My intention was to use RUclips to show something then expand on that in my courses on Kajabi and elsewhere but I get carried away. I have considered shorts to help get the quit videos out and that does help some of the stats but it also damages others. It’s great feedback and i’ll honestly bear it in mind.

    • @SouthernGFX
      @SouthernGFX  Год назад

      Thanks for the words of support. I think I need to take a look at all my stats and see if I can find a happy balance.

    • @mikeekim2532

      Well, as I said, it was not meant to anger but to help. Ergo I was not mad when I wrote it, nor used any cusswords or tried to override anyone else's 'opinions'. What I hear on forums is lots of praise from people for tutorials that are concise and to the point.
      Many a tutorial is not planned out. These are the ones that exceed the 10+ minute mark and are chock full of 'umms, uhss, welll.....now where is that.... etc".
      The flipside is there are many complaints on tutorials that are TOO FAST. Wherein people complain they are constantly rewinding to try and find out what just happened...
      There are some extremely well loved tutorials out there that are around the 7 minute mark each by certain artists. Epic ones.
      I would like to see yours epic, so I share.
      These stick to one or two things they are trying to communicate. Not every nuance of every detail. The key combo not the complete history of the function.
      They are very well edited down. They make the points without belaboring. And these are the names and tutorials that people share all over the place. Me too. I would love to see yours in that class. I think you would enjoy that too.
