  • In this series we have two fishing days in Louisiana planned as well as videos on what to bring on a trip like this, lessons learned, and how to pick a charter boat so subscribe to get notifications when the rest of the videos come out!
In today's video, we go over the Yellowfin Tuna that we caught on spinning reels. While the captain and mate were putting out live bait they told us we could throw a top water plug on a spinning outfit at the front of the boat. We ended up catching quite a few fish on this lure as well as the biggest of the trip (a 78 lb fish)!
We fishing with Capt. Nick and his first mate John today on his 39 Contender with VooDoo charters.

Venice is where a fisherman feels alive. If you go you will be back. I pull my boat 11.5 hours to fish Venice, we stay a week every year for the past 7 years. I look forward to that trip every year.

I know! It’s crazy when a big fish like that hits so close to the boat.

Great YF on spinning. You/they didn't have/use any large poppers for the tuna?

I think it was the 9500 or 10500 spinning reel. It was pretty big.
