    Thanks for the comparisons. Love the blue in the Visconti.
    I would like to make one suggestion [gently, as opposed to critically] - when comparing pen sizes side-by-side, it would help [me] visualize the differences better if they were all lined up neatly at one end or the other. When a difference in length is randomly divided between the nib-end and the back-end of the pen, small differences become indiscernible. Perhaps an attractive wooden box lid with a pen tray insert would help with the alignment? My suggestion is not meant to detract from some extremely informative and entertaining videos! You guys are magnificent.

      Definitely something we can be more mindful of in these videos. We do have the Pen Plaza if you're looking for a more standardized comparison: www.gouletpens.com/pen-comparison-tool - Colin

      Thanks for the response, Colin! I have used the Pen Plaza from time to time and I frequently refer to the measurements given on the various Goulet web pages, but a quick glance on screen helps too -- especially if they're lined up. It also helps to see them pen-in-hand even if hands (and grips) are not all created alike! :D

    I found a Pelikan 120 in the original green/black at a flea market in Lisbon. Got it for 12 euro! One of my favourite and funnest writers 😃 May need to get that blue one now.

    Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but the other upgrade (besides size & 18K nib) from M600 to M800 (and M1000 too, of course!) is that the piston mechanism has metal components that are meant last MUCH longer.

    Quick question Brian.... when you get the chance I noticd you have a EF on one m800 and an Fine on the other...... For high curiousity, is the EF nib finer than the Fine?..... im aware of the uncertainty of Pelikans width of line writing (not variation) just regular writing. i know they are what some have noted as 'width jumpers' (a medium could jump to a double broad in its writing) How extrafine is it??? ..... this will help me find out which nib to get for my first purchase. I am a Pelikan virgin (m200s dont count)
    OR in short, is the EF nib a great THIN writer in its fine lines.....

    Pelikan is my favorite pen brand. The M800 is my favorite size. But I love the 120 and will order it today. But I want you to know it was in my basket before I watched this video!! I have been waiting for it to come out. Unique color. Great style. And broad is the way to go!! Thanks for the focus on Pelikan!

      The M150 is still my "go-to" pen to carry at work. It's probably the most compact (length and girth) piston filler I've ever found.
      Funny thing, one of the best things about a nice fine nib Fountain Pen is it can write on greasy paper better than almost anything (except maybe a pencil).

    Thanks for showing off the M120! I've been trying to figure out what shade of blue it was and I'm sold now. My hubby is going to order himself an Ocean Swirl for his birthday soon, so I think I'm going to piggy back on his order with this little guy , though that upcoming M600 White Turquoise is super tempting too... If I only I wasn't on a fun money budget!

    The Jinhao X750 Shimmering Sands are great starter pens, and I've given away several to people, always inked up with their preferred color.
    I ordered a Faber-Castell Loom with the broad nib yesterday based on Rachel's recommendation; hope it's as good as people say.

  • @yarens1
    @yarens1 6 лет назад +1

    You don't seem to mention it, but the biggest difference with the 800 (and 1000) models compared to the lower numbered ones is that their piston mechanism is metal, which makes the pen considerably heavier. That's why *I* prefer the 800s, at least.

    The nib in the M120 is so much better than the normal steel nib in a Pelikan M20x.

    Seeing this new iteration of the Pelikan 120 made me pick up my vintage Pelikan 120. It is a very nice pen with a shorthand nib that felxes like crazy for a steel nib. Craftsmanship that you cannot buy nowadays.

    From the press photos I thought the M120 was a totally different shade of blue. Pelikan seems to do that a lot. I have an M200 demo, M800, and M1000. The M1000 is by far the best, but hard to sell in the US because our price on the M1000 is so high.

    • @Gouletpens
      @Gouletpens  6 лет назад

      TheRacerRich that’s pretty much the reason we don’t stock it. -Brian

    • @TheRacerRich
      @TheRacerRich 6 лет назад

      I should clarify my position a bit. The M1000 is by far the most fun, but the M800 is my go-to workhorse since 90% of my handwriting is on sheets that originated as printer paper and filling in forms, which is when you really don't want flex.

    Why do you dislike M600 Brian? Why do you chose M800 over the M600? It would help as a buying guide for us.

    • @Gouletpens

      I believe it has to do with the weight. The M800 jumps up almost double the weight because it has brass in the barrel. - Colin
