Thank you so much for this video. I’m getting into book selling and was really worried about how to best represent my books in the description. Your video is perfect and answers all my questions! Subbed! ❤
getting to the buyer in the condition we intend is key! That is why we polybag. I will never be swayed from that argument. Never thought of providing a binder with the loose-leaf! Great idea! and of course we got value!!!
Thanks so much for all this good information. I just started to selling books on ebay. This info definitely will help me to better describe the books I am selling on ebay. Thanks.
Thank you very much for all the information. I have been a reseller for years but was thinking about adding books to my store. This video answered so many questions for me. I am ready to binge watch your channel now.

I'm a buyer of books totally not a seller, and am not looking forward to listing the one's I'm planning to get rid of. This is helping to make that a little less intimidating. Thanks sis!
Awesome to see another page in Michigan! Keep up the good work! I don’t mess around with books, but I’ll let you know if I come across any big lots of books that are in good condition!
I really appreciate this. I am fairly new and I sell almost entirely books. I am now rethinking how I’ve conditioned some of my books. Thanks! Looking forward to your next video. Just subscribed! I even gave you a shout out in my last video!
As far as, Katey Reads' advice on grading down with eBay's sellers policies in terms of returns it is the best policy just because of the chargebacks in the event of returns.
I condition down as well. It is incredibly unusual for me to choose "Like New", and I almost never choose "New". For me, "Very Good" is more like Excellent Used Condition. For me, Very Good is what I use when I can't find anything I feel I need to disclose or closely photograph on a book. And, of course, in a lot, I set the entire lot by the worst book. I will say, that careful packaging of books will preserve condition. I feel like a lot of people feel like you can just toss a book, loose and unwrapped, into a poly mailer and send it off and nothing can happen to it, and that's simply not true at all. And my buyers seem to agree, because a lot of my feedback mentions my packaging. And I agree, that "acceptable" books sell all of the time. People don't mind as long as you let them know ahead of time what to expect. :)
I designed my own brand and have my own used book store, and now i'm feeling ready this summer (with the slowdown down time) to try Ebay to sell my books. Thanks so much for this video!! Also just have to say i LOVE that disney villian's shirt!!
Got a really good haul on Facebook today! I am so excited!! A graduate student selling her whole 25 plus book collection of nursing books. And thier all up to date. Got them all for 100 for the whole thing. I was looking up comps and no highlighting at all in any of the books. Crazy!!! She told me she just wanted to get rid of them. 50-100 dollar text books lot of them. And when I was comparing eBay and Amazon. Not sure if I am going to do bundles or not. Will be easy to sell them on eBay because everyone is doing stock photos!! Makes no sense. I thought people will want to see the condition in pictures not no stock photos!! Looks like lot of them might be on eBay.
Wow great find I’m happy for you! Definitely have an advantage on textbooks on eBay because too many try to keep it generic stock photos and it makes buyers cautious. Best of luck!!!!
Great help! In next video, or whenever haha, please explain how to know if a book is a book club edition. I've seen it listed but I have not seen it noted on copyright page. Thanks again!
Thanks, Katey! (just subbed-found you through Cat!) Have about 5 cookbooks listed. Went in and down graded conditions 'just in case'! Also have a box of vintage or older detective novels that my dad collected. I've had them in a box for 10!!! (Yikes! Really???) years because I was just scared of listing them wrong! Dad had told me...'be careful when you sell those, some are old and 1st edition'! I'm excited now to get them going and gone! Thanks, again!
Thank you so much for subbing and watching! I appreciate that. The older the better with books. It may take a bit for the right collector to grab them but keep the faith! I’m excited for you!!
You spoke about no 'mold' - what about 'a basement' smell? No spots but does have a smell. How would you describe it or would you just not even attempt to sell it? Thanks for all the information.
I get these often. You can definitely put in description it has a “musty” smell. Honestly it usually goes away for me over time if you let them air out a bit. I have only had one book returned and refunded for a smell and it was because I bought three books from a smoker and won’t do that again. Ever lol 😂
@Katey Reads oddly enough, I was going to ask you to do exactly what you are doing for eBay. I just recently bought 10lbs of books for $20, hoping they are strictly paperback but figured Sci-fi, Stephen King, and Dean Koontz we will see what the worse I can do, 😂. My Bin Store was killed for a week for owner's vacation. Typically, the seller that I bought from does completely random books from one genre, no particular indication of no mixing so I figured Id ask if I could get Stephen King and Dean Koontz with the Sci-Fi Mix. My line of thinking was to hedge the bet. Heard something about eBay not allowing Media Mail for books?? Idk, bit of a pain to hear that but whatever.
Thanks for the video. A quick question, do you send/list ex-library books on Amazon or only keep those for E-bay? I have a bunch with withdrawn on the inside.
I had ur vid play in its entirety in the background.....ive sold some water damaged $h!t, but ppl wanted it lol. had no idea with those terms MMPB, ive done an mmorpg.

I have books given to me that were previously part of a hospital library that was closing. Do you attempt to blackout the stamp inside the book (library name) or leave it as is? Thanks.
I think thriftbooks does that too. You have to understand these are insanely high volume operating businesses. They need to get thousands of books listed daily so details are just a nuisance. From a buyer perspective it sucks but you get a good “deal”.

I like how detailed you are with what to indicate about the books. This is very helpful
Good I’m glad you found it helpful! Biggest reason for making this video. Thanks Regina 🖤
Books can only arrive beat up if they are packaged incorrectly. Or if they are thrown off a cliff. IMHO, there is never an excuse for shipping damage.

Interesting, I never looked into Ebay's guidelines. Surprised that they are stricter than Amazon, since eBay has more of "garage sale" vibe to me.
Yes indeed!!
Thank you very much. This was very helpful!

no such thing as gently used clothing. nobody is that gentle. Great informative conditioning vid!
HAHAHHAHA RIGHT? The washing machine alone isn’t gentle lol
Always condition down here. Most sales are acceptable to good. I have sold water damage but only in lots
Yes. Water damage I know definitely sells, I just don’t know I can recommend people doing it.
