- I do a comparison of the Penn-Plax Cascade Max Flow, Oase Biomaster 850 and the Fluval FX6. I show them in action, pack them with media and weigh them, compare media capacities and show a few other filters as well.

Great comparison. I'm a Oase user but was curious about media capacity and flow rates. I still think I'd prefer the Biomaster over the others. The ease of cleaning the prefilter means it'll actually get cleaned every week versus the others maybe getting cleaned once a month, if that even if we're honest.
Do you have the 850? How do you like yours?
I've purchased two 850s for a 220 gallon freshwater tank I'm putting together.
I'll be calling Oase soon because I think, based on what I've seen on Oase's videos, PondMaster, Aquarium Co-op and every other "RUclips Influencer" has been telling people incorrect info.
They all telling people to load their trays as if the water flows from top to bottom, but I think that's backwards.
I could be wrong, but I'll double check with Oase before I start using mine.
If I'm right, I'm going to be quite pleased with myself....LOL
@@RealCptHammonds The flow is definitely from the bottom up. All the Biomasters have the same basic design.
500% agree that if you have a 125 gal aquarium, you'll need TWO Fx6's on it, no matter what Fluval says!!!!! Hear people complaining on a constant basis that their single FX6 isn't doing a good job keeping their 125 clean and the one's that say it DOES do a good job, have very lightly stocked tanks.
You should make a video how too setup these 3 filter. Becose fx6 have the fine filter in top And oase have the fine filter all the way down
What abt the energy consumption of the cascade flow in watts?
Excuse me / MAX FLOW question : the plastic round blue piece to left of water hole with the screw top - do i fill that with water too?? having an impossible time finding any resources in it - i’ve had every size cascade up to this - all were silent - this one is making a noise - can’t figure it out. impeller isn’t impaired, my 1500 made this noise when i first got it - i eventually got it to go quiet after multiple restarts - not sure how or why - i wanna say it’s air. Pump is working - it’s just a bit noisy , same noise my 1500 made before i got it silent. any ideas?? thanks for the review .
I was looking into the Oase but seen the price of them and said no way even more exspensive than the top dog fx6 of which I already have two of I liked the Oase because of the integrated heater
Your right about a how much filtration for a heavily stocked 125 gallon cichlid tank. My 125 has 2 fx6, a sunsun 304b, a large sponge filter, and a xpertmatic internal filter. Tank stays crystal clear. Glass only needs to be cleaned about one and a half to two months.
what happens during a power outage Do they leak or drain your tank. Any safety or automatic turn off feature.
They are canister filters. They are closed loop systems.

The Fluval holds less but has an entire outside filtration also which the other big garbage can filter doesn’t? Fluval is by far better and is the standard. It never leaks, primes In 2 seconds, flows way more water almost double, and is also quieter. If you run both in a tank they both get the water plenty clear but the Fluval is still the gold standard.
In my opinion there is no canister on the market that can compete with the fx6. Eheim has a big one that could buy it comes with nothing no trays or anything. The reason it's the best is sponge volume. Sponge is the best bio media there is. 30 ppi sponge to be specific. Which is what is in the fx6. Following that water flow and last but definitely not least it doesn't bypass. The others in your video do not to mention all the sunsun and cascade canisters. They bypass a lot.

30 PPI foam in an FX6 is the second best…what is the best is converting it into a fluidized K1 Kaldness bed filter. Which I did because I wanted 5x the efficiency of the 30 PPI foam. And I also never wanted to open the FX6 again.

@@thefreegracesciencelab5150 you're correct. The fluid bed is the best but not an option for everyone. That's why I say 30ppi foam is.
If you really wanted to compare water flow between the models, why don't you actually test it?
I'm not into any filter; either a tower drip dry, cannister or whatever, whoever, wen you talk about having a fear about the handle not being sturdy enough, Aren't you bein hard; based based on thefact that you're not going to be changing filter material every day, but maybe every few days, and even then there are ways to carry sucj alarge amount of media...
