Your insights into the 2021 vintage not only align with what I’ve recently read but offer so much more depth as well. Your narrative is exceptionally rich with substance, detailing not just key producers to prioritize but also tasting notes and important background information. 2021 seems like a vintage where a winemaker’s choices could mean the difference between defying and succumbing to the challenges of a less-than-ideal year, so I’m glad you included some of the best and most admirable producers of my favorite wine region. I will certainly take your advice and recommendations seriously, should I consider adding a few 2021s to my modest Bordeaux collection which consists mostly of ‘16, ‘18, and ‘19 vintages. Thank you for doing the hard work for us-this is an incredibly valuable video! Cheers, John!
@@AttorneySommYou’re very welcome, John! Greatly enjoyed this video! Excellently done in every aspect of preparation and production. Definitely THE Bordeaux 2021 Definitive Guide!
Thanks, John. We have been spoiled in recent years. 2021 is the only year between 2014 and 2022, inclusive, that I bought no claret whatsoever. I will open a 2014 Beaumont for dinner this evening: it is drinking beautifully right now.
Glad to hear that the Beaumont is showing well! Yes, I can understand people passing on 2021. For those who choose to buy there are some enjoyable wines but selectivity will be critical.
@@AttorneySomm The Beaumont is a really lovely wine and great vfm. I would say that the 2014 is at its peak right now. Not hugely complex but everything is in harmony. It also paired well with the lamb dish this evening. Luckily, I still have half a case left to enjoy.
Thanks for the interesting video John. To be honest I skipped all 2021 like the plague. There is one single wine I bough EP and I think you missed in the list, in fact I think it will be one of the very best wines regardless of price. I am talking about Chateau Les Carmes Haut Brion. I bought a case for $115 a bottle and I think that in a few years I will be rewarded. Other than that wine I plan to buy zero from 2021 vintage . Have a great Sunday
Thanks very much. Yes, Les Carmes Haut-Brion did a nice job in 2021 as well. Looks like that one is selling for $125 in the US now. Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!
@@DD153 Vinous at least speaks very highly of it. They gave it a range of 95-97. Definitely another one worth considering, especially if your palate aligns with Vinous rankings.
I noticed you say "MAIR-low" instead of "Muhr-low," which is the way most Americans say that. Are you trying to be more true to the proper French pronunciation? I want to know just so that I might say it properly myself.
@@dougronald561 Yes! Most of the pronunciation police on RUclips seem to be French-speaking. I have found that reduces the number of (annoying) critical pronunciation comments. 😂

This is great! I’ve been looking to get some birth year wines for my son who was born in April 2021 so this was a godsend!

I was at Costco this weekend and I snagged a bottle of 2020 Le Petit Ducru by Ducru-Beaucaillou for $31.99. Smoking deal.
@@charlesthedeadlifter4376 Well done! That is a spectacular value!! 👍🍷

I bought some Domaine de Chevalier blanc, some gems are overlooked in this vintage.
Excellent choice! Thank you.
How did Chateau Beau-Sejour Becot peform in 2021 vintage? They are on hot steak of late.

Agree!
@@Thesilverthunder777 Thank you!
I would guess these high performers should be drunk on the earlier side as compared to the high-quality vintages around it, no?
Yes, that is right. So having a few of these will give you some flexibility in the cellar.
I skipped 2021 this year
