    Come tour our land with us for the first time as we settle into our dream farm life in rural Ireland. That’s right, you’re coming with us as we explore all of our never-seen-before seven(ish) acres.
    And WAIT until you see what we discovered! Something that's making me feel one step closer to my homestead dreams.
    We've made exciting progress with our off-grid living, so expect an update on that too.
    PLUS we’ll address that elephant in the room ;)

    Welcome to Ireland!
    Recommend watching a youtube channel called Bealtaine Cottage. The lady on that channel bought a piece of land in the west of Ireland and planted it with trees from day one, creating trails through the woodland as it grew. It's a magical place. She kept some of the land for growing her own produce, the before and after is unreal.

      Yes, second this - what Collette has done with 3 acres is just incredible. Trees from day one is the key!

    Great to see you've settled nearby! I can remember the first time we walked our land dreaming if what we wanted to do with it. Such exciting times! Haha had to laugh when I saw Martin Hartes truck up with you, he did our well too. I bet you are dying to get going on the reno too, we started ours at about the same time, such a lovely time going into the Spring/Summer 😊

      Hello! Ahh the dreaming and planning are SO exciting, you're right!! Haha so funny you had Martin do your well too! He's amazing, such a lovely guy. We are DYING to get the reno going but also at the same time want to take our time and it will be an ongoing compromise between doing things outside on the land to get that established and indoors in the house! But I don't mind one bit, here for all of it. I need to catch up on yours!! 😍

    If you haven't seen Little Spanish Farmstead videos yet you might find them really useful for loads of things but particularly how they use their water supply. They've installed a full DIY system to water the land in dry weather and create an area that's possible to swim in too.

    Best of luck with your new property bonus that your near the sea lots of seaweed for your garden. Good to know you met a local farmer with good advice, be careful if you are letting the land out to a farmer some are honest some not. That hill if rocky would be a great place for a forest there is a grant for planting trees mix species. Know you want to have a low impact but a tractor with a bush whacker would make a great job of the brambles. There is a Amish style community in Dunmore East, Waterford that sells Bell canning jars and equipment better value than the Kilner products in the hardware stores. Would be a good video down the road

    Hi Cori great to see your farm, thought it is small it is a nice sisz for sustainability
    For a new family to the rural landscape yee have your property in order, Water, House, Animal housing,
    First task is to sit down Together and create an outline plan for the entire property, Avoiding unnecessary manual work, making use of machines where possible. For example (off grid Bruce) utube

      Great advice, Sean. I've seen some channels where they insisted on spending months doing stuff by hand when hiring something like a digger for a few days removes the heartache of manual labour, to get to their real aim in the first place. You'd imagine of people 70 years ago were able to hire a mini digger etc, they'd have done so !

    I know getting a cow is a bit of a ways off, but try to find a family milk cow that they milk by hand, and learn to milk her while also finding out if she's an easy milker and not a kicker. If they have Jerseys in Ireland I'd lean towards them, they can be sweet and are on the smaller side.

    • @CoriLivestheDreamLife
      @CoriLivestheDreamLife  5 месяцев назад +1
