  • I'm back on the Yard Art Model A in this one! Finally took some time to make some progress on the new floor pans. Finished off a little floor framing and body bracing before cutting and bead rolling all new floor pans for the car. Plug welded everything down with a million plug welds and ground for a few hours.... Finished off everything from the tail pan to the firewall! Deck lid in the next installment! Thanks for watching!

    New here and immediate subscribe. I wish all the episodes were numbered. This one is #12. For some reason, I like to watch them in sequence.
    Some YT producers know the subject but not the 'videography'. Lighting, camera, sound, etc. And cars are not easy for those things. Dark corners, camera in the way, noisy workshops, etc.
    But you do an excellent job with all that AND the ... car !! THANKS !!

    A lot of nice fab work done there. Probably not an issue, due to not having to remove them often, but I like using nutserts to attach my removable panels.

    Been following you and this car from the beginning, but maybe I missed something. Are you having the transmission overhauled too? You just slapped it in there so casually it left me wondering.
    Great series! Can't wait to see it finished!

    • @rottersgarage
      @rottersgarage  9 месяцев назад +2

      I really haven't mentioned the transmission at all yet. I was pretty much planning on washing it out, re gasketing it, and putting it back together when the time comes. I have to look it over yet, might need a complete rebuild....

    • @heysilence
      @heysilence 9 месяцев назад +1

      LOL a lot going on to be worried about the transmission at the moment right? I reckon since you're already in deep it's probably a good idea to spruce it up. The little glimpse I got looked like it was in pretty good shape though. Sure do admire your work! Keep it up!

    Thanks for making these videos. I have similar work in my future and this helps a ton! I have a question, I see you don't bother with weld through primer. No issues just blowing through paint when you weld?

    • @rottersgarage
      @rottersgarage  9 месяцев назад +2

      I have used weld thru primer in the past, but its been years. Been using Rustoleum flat black for as long as i can remember for this kind of stuff. I start off with my wire on the edge of the sheet metal/ floor pan, focus the heat on the sheet metal for a couple of seconds, then back drag the puddle into the opening and focus the heat on the painted structure. Seems to work pretty good for me, never really get any porosity or popping back from the paint. Also, the flat black really doesn't let off any major smoke, honestly probably no more than weld thru. But i do know that if you use gloss it will smoke like crazy, gas you out, and mess the welds up pretty good...
