Late 60's were way different than early 60's. There was a huge cultural shift in dress and music in 10 years. Most of the stricter stuff Elvis experienced was in the 50's.
The 1960's was the decade of the mini skirt!
They even had them in the original Star Trek series in the late 60's.
The 50's were very restrictive, right after WWII, but as your other subscribers have noted, there was a huge shift.into the 60's. First with mini skirts, bikinis, hip hugger pants, & Twiggy as a Mod fashion icon. The later part of the 60's was influenced by the hippie movement with the drug culture & the Vietnam War changing the atmosphere with psychedelics. TV sensors were still rather strict about some things, such as not being able to show married couples in the same bed or showing your belly button. Things continued to change going into the 70's & this was heavily reflected in the movies at the time. But when it comes down to it, the theory of "sex sells" has been around forever, it just is a reflection of that current period.
I was born in 1966. I still had time at an early age to still hear and remember these fantastic songs of the era 👏 🙌 👌
What the Gals were wearing are called 'Skimps'. They came back in fashion during the 80's.
Go and get those boots girl!
Great reaction!
As I remember MY Mother had a similar outfit to go to dinner with Dad in the early 60's . Both looked Fab!
My Mum and Auntie Sheila dancing to this in the kitchen happy times
If I'm not mistaken the ladies are doing the dance step called the Pony.
Nancy Sinatra didn't play by the rules. Part of what I love 💘 😉
Nancy did a bunch of duets with Lee Hazlewood who also wrote this song for her. He had such a way with words! I'd love to see you react to some of their songs like Summer Wine, Some Velvet Morning, and Lady Bird
Things were more repressive in the 50s. The 60s saw a shift, a new generation was coming forth. In 1964, the bikini was introduced and before you knew it the mini skirt was all the rage. Men started letting their hair grow long as an act of rebellion and to fit it with the beat/ mod generation. Hippies and flower children began popping up everywhere by '67! It all climaxed w the Summer of Love in '69. Morals were shifting as the 70s brought about the sexual revolution and women's liberation. They were exciting times in fashion and music overall.
Yes,it is Frank Sinatra's little girl.Good catch
Swinging sixties !
Killer lyrics.
This video was made for a video jukebox found primarily in bars, so they could be racy. They're called Scopitones. There's a bunch of Scopitones videos on RUclips.
Also, check out Jeannie C Riley - "Harper Valley PTA"
It’s a great karaoke go-to! I’m not a fabulous singer, but I can sing the hell out of that one and do the dance too!
Fun song!
By '66, it was the swinging sixties. Elvis was only shown from the waist up on Ed Sullivan due to public reaction from previous appearances. This music promo was shown on Ed Sullivan. I'm sure there were people who didn't like it but they were drowned out by people who did. Nancy had a later hit with her dad, Frank Sinatra, called Something Stupid. It's a pretty good song too.
Frank Sinatra, That was the name I couldn't remember. Thanks
Girl Power Song!👊💪
Raymond, this is the ULTIMATE girl power song, bar none!
@@MegaJustGeorge
Yup! Killer boots!
I'd like to see you react to Helen Reddy and her song "I Am Woman". Seems an appropriate song for the month.
Hot pants was the trend - including boots and fishnet stockings.
1966 the year of the mini skirt and go go boots.
This fashion will be around forever because people still wear these today.
Hi, Yes Nancy Sinatra is Frank Sinatra's Daughter.
THE ban was in the fifties!!! the sixties were the flower power age!! short mini skirts and go go boots!!
Frank & Nancy Sinatra/Something Stupid
That famous sliding bass line in the intro was jazz musician, Chuck Berghofer. Hear the interesting story here.
ruclips.net/video/qNUDHcBnoEg/видео.html
Incidentally, Billy Strange who came up with the idea for that bass line, also played the famous guitar part on Nancy's version of "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)" (many people today know that song from the movie "Kill Bill")
Billy Strange was just a musical genius. He made magic happen.
Elvia was ten years earlier he kicked open the door though ! 😁😉✌️👍🇬🇧🙏
The late sixty's they started to ease up slightly but this video was still risque
Elvis was different generation and many of the restrictions wer in the 1950s. You had the Rolling stones, Doors etcin the 1mid late 1960s with long hiar and tight paints,
The 60s is where it all started, I think the 50s it was a little more restricted
Barbra Streisand/Prisoner - main title theme from the motion picture soundtrack Eyes Of Laura Marrs.
Yea the late sixties things started to change into a new realm where certain drugs and people started mixing together just like in the early 70s when the hippie culture was introduced.then criticism ended for a short period until money once again got involved!
Dusty Springfield preachers son
Love this song. Too bad Nancy didn't have the talent her father Frank had. This was about the time mini skirts and flower children/hippies took over...lol.
How about Loretta Lynn next? She went from a barefoot coal miner's daughter living in a shack to one of the Queens of country music. She wrote a song about her life "Coal Miner's Daughter"
Patsy Cline, Dionne Warwick, Dolly Parton, Pat Benatar.
I will check it out. Thanks
@@TysheenOrane also those "shorts" were called hot pants....lol.
Middle to late 60s
Those are dancing outfits... not mini dresses... those were booty shorts.....
Actually, Charlia, those were French-cut dancers' briefs - although the leg openings on the briefs of the sweetie blonde in the Saturn Yellow sweater were cut much higher to accomidate for the wider hips and pelvis she had, thus, she needed more freedom of movement.
that was the era of the true mini skirt
With times, those boots should be smelly for a cheesy dance move this is so logical
Elvis's pelvic moves were blocked from viewers in the late 50's. This song is mid 60's and attitudes had begun to change a bit. By this time mini skirts were in and the poodle dresses of the 50's were long gone. This was in the early start of the sexual revolution and the loosening of societal morals, not that it was a bad thing. It needed loosening, bad.
play the supremes nothing but heartaches
Fashions change quickly. The 50s fashions ended by 1964. The rest of the 60s were mod!
React to Linda Perry - Fill Me Up
Cher! Also 60s and her clothes were very scandalous.
Frank's daughter all the way
React to dido - white flag
Google "sexual revolution" 🙀
The late '60's were different to the early '60's........BUT........as always it was a double standard - OK for men to get excited watching women, but women couldn't get worked up over Elvis - I mean you can't have women that way.!!
YOU DON'T KNOW WHO FRANK SINATRA IS?? SHAME ON YOU!!
