    Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on RUclips, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on RUclips. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on RUclips, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
    If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.
    This is a reaction video used to educate and give my feedback on the song and artists.

      Check out Bang,Bang with Nancy Sinatra as well.
      It’d be super interesting if you reacted to Top Culture’s videos on the “Most Popular song every month” in a decade.
      They’re really great videos showing what was popular is the 60’s, 70’s and how music changed.

    Short but sassy and sweet. Nancy is just a doll here. A huge hit, not only on the charts but also in fashion. Nancy often laments that she should have started her own line of boots back in '66 because women come up to her to this day and ask her where they can buy vintage vinyl go-go boots.

    • @jnagarya519
      @jnagarya519 7 месяцев назад +1

      "A huge hit" until the record-buying public realized she couldn't sing to save her life.
      Her daddy was Frank, so she got a recording contract.

    • @jons.105
      @jons.105 7 месяцев назад +3

      @@jnagarya519 That's a matter of opinion. She had two #1 hits and sang a James Bond theme--somebody liked her.

    • @jnagarya519
      @jnagarya519 7 месяцев назад

      @@jons.105 Yes, because "someone" liked her body but had no taste in music.
      Then again, of course, she is a legend for the longest career in music in history, and issuing more #1 singles and LPS than everyone else in music history combined.
      Admit it: much popular music is schlock and doesn't live up to the hype. But, so long as you like her looks and body, I guess that means she could sing. Or perhaps you are a masochist who likes to be "walk[ed] all over".

    • @jnagarya519
      @jnagarya519 7 месяцев назад

      Yes -- better the boots than to hear her attempt to sing.

    This song was played on the radio all the time back in the day. Funny that back then everybody focused on the "boots walking " and people missed the message in the lyrics! You had such a great reaction to this song. We were wearing white go go boots back then!!

    I was lucky enough to be working for Playboy in '95 when Nancy did a photo shoot at age 50, so I got to hang out with her a bit. She was smart, witty, beautiful, and great at conversing. I've loved this song since it first came out when I was just a tyke so I was thrilled to meet her almost 30 years later.

    I believe that "descending bass line" riff which is the hook of the song was played on an instrument called a "dobro", which is like a guitar with no frets, giving the player the option to make an effect similar to a slide guitar.

    That was an acoustic double bass. (Standup bass, ) gets one of the coolest sounds (it's actually more 'percussive' than an electic bass) and what they used back in the day on pretty much all songs prior to the sixties. Elvis Presley's original bass player (Bill Black) is famous for his slapping acoustic bass on the early rockabilly songs. he would slap the strings against the fret board as he was playing to make it sound like a percussion instrument and bass all at the same time. Check out the live performance of Elvis doing "Blue Suede Shoes" on the Milton Berle show in 1956 to see a great example of Bill Black slapping that bass.

    Fun fact about this song. It was actually used as a form of torture, by the ATF, CIA and the FBI, during the Waco Texas David Koresh Branch Davidian standoff. The Branch Davidians were holed up in their compound and refused to come out. After days of the standoff, the ATF, CIA & FBI had multiple giant speakers, the size of mobile homes, trucked in and were placed all around the compound. They put those speakers on blast, playing this song on a 24/7 loop, at decibels that were literally shaking the ground, shaking the structure of the compound and literally shaking their bodies so hard, making the Feds puke their guts out, even though they had on hearing protection. I was there and witnessed the entire thing. So yeah, this song was/is considered torture to listen to. I think I may have to agree with that !

    Shawn I like your willingness to react to these old poplar “classic” songs. I am not claiming them as classic for any brilliant writing,performance etc but rather classic as in how they were poplar at the time and had some impact. Same as some others you have already reacted to, “Sugar Sugar” for example. It can provide you with some insight into the times. Another you might consider which is certainly not rock but was played on Top 40 radio is another Nancy Sinatra song called “Something Stupid” which is a duet with her father Frank.

    There's a duet with Nancy and Frank called Somethin

    Nancy did a beautiful cover of this song, however, Lee Hazelwood wrote it and recorded it first. His version was told from a man's point of view, and the images of a man singing "gonna walk all over you" did not create pleasant thoughts. So they found charming little Nancy and had her record it. It was a huge success. Lee Hazelwood's version is on RUclips, sometimes with simple title "Boots".

    I can't get past the very silly overhead shots of the dancers pretending they're doing water ballet, which was popular at the time... Sorry, but writhing on the floor like a beached mermaid looks utterly ridiculous! Fun song, though! Even more cringe moments can be had when she sings suggestive love-song duets with her dad... Yeah, not creepy at all! 🙄
