Damn you! Been watching your vids and now at 47 I just bought a new guitar due Monday! Gave up years ago but I am inspired to give guitar one more shot.
Dude, now you know to NEVER lay it down again!!! Glad to see you’re back in it…there’s nothing like it! Oh, and if you need a refresher on the basics of metal, take a look at my latest course for beginners: www.jasonstallworth.com/courses/
Awesome videos man! I haven’t played much on the past few years and the breaks really got pumped when we I had my daughter a year and a half ago only playing around on my acoustic (she loves to strum) but your videos have really inspired me to get back at it man. Time for her to get acquainted with my old Marshall \m/
Yeah it's a challenge to put that differentiation in your music. And to me, it's all about that balance between what I feel sounds good and how the listener interprets that.
Hi Jason, thanks for this. BTW, on the first riff - the tab shows that you playing 3 strings E,A,D, but in fact the second part of the riff is played on D and G strings. Is it just a typo error ?
Jason ! Give me writing song 'song structure' please. Ultimately, (and i know this is asking you to address my own personal problem) but coming up with riffs, is pretty fine, but then structuring and arranging that into something vaguely coherent is a massive problem for me. It's supposedly simple, but not really. A lot of the other songwriting videos you've done (including this type of riff stuff) is great but I just am missing the last kind of piece. We all need our own masterpie(a)ce (sic) right? - Riffage is great, that's awesome some of the stuff here really is great - The process of just recording, sure - Vocals, you've covered this too to some ! Unless i miss something, it's all about structuring now but in an applied sense. For example if Verse goes like X, bridge can go like ???. etc. great riffs btw - get a discord! Keep it metal, and pray to the iron gods! Archy
Dude, you're right, I haven't covered that in depth but I do have this video that may help: ruclips.net/video/GR1qnjxELL4/видео.html But I'll be honest, there's really no wrong or right way. I really think you just have to spend a lot of time with your instrument and playing around with different riff, and then expanding on those riffs. And if possible, play along with a drum program...that really helps for inspiring riffs and progressions.
Got me thinking, I have an old VCR tape I've been using as a door jam for years.. The decline of the western civilization!! Do you remember this... Shit where my gonna find a player, antique stores?? I know I know I can Google it, but ya know when a man has a sentimental memory, only that which is authentic will do... Probably chuck it 5 mins in.. (it was terrible then, it can't be any different now)
Yeah, there were something special about grabbing that new release at Blockbuster on Friday night and going into an actual record store to buy a record!
@@jasonstallworth I still haven't worked out the download function on this Motorola phone I got, it's not the greatest.. just $150.00 but it doesn't need coins so that's cool, and I went on holiday, there was a record store on any other corner, I come home and there ain't even pay phone or phone books anymore, let alone records or record stores, let's not talk about where to get a decent player nowadays, but I will be wanting to buy your actual cd's soon
Woooaah dude... Dokken!!
Bro', I had completely forgotten about that band, must be at least 30 yrs since that name graced my ears... Right on Jason...

So awesome to hear that and yeah, pick it back up man!
Nice riffage sir.........Love to play all over the neck and have diversity in playing. However to listeners it may just ‘sound the same ‘

That first riff reminded me of ratt and warren demartini
Love some Ratt!
Really Awesome 🌟 🌟

Over 30 years...I’m old! 😂
@@jasonstallworth Oh man do you mind just throwing ur experience to me lol That'll save me some time ahaha
Been trying to load this for like 10 minutes haha, RUclips is acting weird for everyone I guess. Anyhow, great lesson man, thanks again \m/
Yea that happened to me after i got to watch the video though
Yeah I think there was an issue with RUclips last night! Pretty crazy!
I have no problem playing around with A instead of E, as long as it's A2 😎
NIce, yeah, it's just good to play in different areas! Spices things up!
