It is legal because after r oe vs w ade was overturned, which was a federal level supreme co urt decision, many states had trigger laws that went in effect to ban a bortion, in some cases m aking it almost im possible for a bortions even for the life of the mother even if that wasn't their intent. In Texas alone, 26,000 babies were born from r ape anonymously reported and some of the mothers were children. That is showing our nation has a huge r ape problem. You can find the statistics for other states. The south in particular is against a bortion.
I don't know what the numbers are but religious men have become extremely radicalized in the last 5-10 years, most likely via the internet, the "red pill" movement, and as a backlash to women doing better in school and college. I personally am not sure why boys are struggling in college and younger grades because our school systems were designed for boys. But I have noticed in the US men lose interest in tasks that women excel in because they view them as not worthy of their time if women can do them, because women are supposed to be inferior to men. So then they don't value education. I don't know if it's actually the boys can't perform or if it's the contrast of them not wanting to do something they perceive a woman could do better, which they view as emasculating. And we sent abroad our good paying working class jobs for many men.

These issues have always been present but rather than tackle our economic problems as to why young men cannot afford a home or good salary from corporate interests, they think feminism somehow is this all-powerful monster that has created all of society's ills. They think that if they take away voting, a bortion, no-fault divorce, and encourage young marriages, all of society's ills will go away. But they are not addressing how most men in this country, to include the "religious," are addicted to violin t corn, and many divorces are initiated over corn use (56% of women list this as the reason for the divorce) and also they are not addressing why boys are badly performing in school, rather than saying it's designed for girls, which is not true. They also blame there being too many female teachers but teaching does not pay well and our teachers have to work multiple jobs in part because it is a female profession and looked down on. If you search through videos in the US about teachers you'll find angry parents say they are public servants working for them and too greedy.
I honestly think the increase in violin t corn has trained men (and some women) to get a dopamine award from seeing women punished and hurt, and that is a HUGE part of this, but no one wants to talk about how this is sadism and enjoying the suffering of others because it is too taboo and because corn use is almost universal with men, people become very defensive about it.

This is true. I got married when I was 17. My husband was 21. With careful consideration, my parents agreed to this. It was approved by a judge who had us do marriage counseling first. We never had sexual relations with each other before marriage. Five children later and now one grandchild too, we are still very much in love and have been happily married now for 24 years. Just saying.

Thank you. This needs more attention. When i was 14 i was engaged. If my father hadnt been arrested for other things he would have signed for me to be married at 16. I am in america. My wedding date would have been in may of 2006 a month after my 16th birthday. I am 34 and thankfully escaped being forced to be married before i could legally rent a car or drink beer. And yes you read that correctly.
Thank God you are free! I escaped at 12 years old because the state I was in banned it, but unfortunately was married by 17 years. Those 5 extra years were so precious for me.

I am American and my parents tried to marry me off at 12 years old not even a teenager. I was not even out of middle school. I was not pregnant. I did not seek a boy. I was raped by a man who confessed and went to jail for his crime. I had to have an abortion because of this rape. The state court order the abortion or I would die the judge said. This is why my parents deemed me marriageable. I was "dirty" and "spoiled" now. My mother said that I should pray a man would want to marry me in my condition. That she would be looking to find a nice young man as soon as possible. All of the men they selected were over the age of 18. The youngest was 19 years old. The eldest was 32 years old. All of them called the state to report the fact my parents were trying to marry me off. None thought it was right. The state did not do much except to tell my parents this is not right, but eventually I was placed in foster care. If I had been in the same state in my country that my cousin was in, by the time I was in foster care I would have bene legally married to who ever my parents chose.
My cousin was married off at just 14 years old before she could enter secondary school. She got pregnant and her parents demanded they marry.
Several other friends were married by 16 years old.
IN ALL CASES IT WAS THE PARENTS PUSHING IT. This was due to religious beliefs.

This is a complex problem. Religious groups here are what keeps this going, and its not as common as this reporter makes it sound. Usa is a huge place with every sort of diversity you can think of. Also our structure is state/ federal..so states may want one thing eventhogh the president feels differently. But yes this isnt talked about enough. Its really due to religious fundamentals which is a problem in every country.
And the thing is religious fanatics are increasing in the country. The states have denied abortion to 64k women who have been raped and now this news.
There should be a federal minimum age that is 18 years. If you can not smoke until 21, or vote until 18, or join the military until 17 with parent consent, then why can you get married at 16 years old? It is illogical. I am all for the minimum age for marriage being 18 or even 21 years of age. The federal minimum age for marriage should be instituted.
These so called developed countries are so undeveloped in emotional levels and maturity.

I have seen suh case in a series called Chicago Med. A 12 years got married , with her parents permission, to a Church reverend. Got pregnant at 14 but couldnt sustain the child due her under developed body. Later, she choose to remove her Uterus and decided to carry on with her life on her own terms
As a US citizen I don't know a single person that has married someone under 18?? Maybe that was 50 or 60 years ago.

Not saying Noone is doing it but it is frowned upon in our society. Not sure what the trend is across the world. USA 🇺🇸 , few people want to take care of some underage wife or husband. We have many rights here as citizens. You should visit. You will see.

I agree that laws should be changed but it's important to remember that in the US the culture and nation of origin needs to be considered. Some of these child brides might be hillbillies but some are likely first generation Americans. Child brides are not a mainstream American issue.

I live in the US..with the exception of ultra religious cults in Utah, and immigrant communities as you mentioned -there is no child marriage amongst the regular American citizens and public.
Evangelical Christians also push children to marry. I was in one such household at just 12 years old was pushed. I was raped by a full grown man that confessed and went to jail. That is the reason.
