Given the title I had to share this. Been having a brief, unproductive, back and forth with a guy who first appeared to be trying to say the rules of Exodus 21:1-6 were rules of Egyptian slavery, then tried to deny the bible endorsed chattel slavery (Leviticus 25:26 I believe). At any rate he has failed to defend, that there is objective morality. Probably because I just keep asking if he personally finds chattel slavery to be permissible. Yet oddly he hasn't answered that, such an easy answer I would think.
Christians history of the bible seems totally out of kilter with other biblical historical scholars. I guess we can find anything we want to agree with our views, we can also read anything we want to into biblical passages.
Joe didn't seem to understand that a claim and it's negation are by definition a dichotomy. A and not a, cover all the options. Also when you explored his evasion that morality is gods nature it became clear that god did not decide his nature and there fore god does not dictate or choose what is moral.
#1 A.D. = Anno Domini which is Latin for the year of are Lord #2 Santa Claus was real his name was saint nickolus from what is now Turkey and is the patron saint of children. He had a reputation for secret gift giving and thus became Santa #3 there is no accurate early manuscripts from pre 100 ad the oldest is marks and its from 290ad but thats not the problem it was the 97% illiteracy rate so we should be asking who actually wrote the books
Great discussion!
In "Inherit The Wind" the lawyer defending the teacher actually turned out to be religious, as well.

A dictionary is not an authority on the meanings of words. If the popular definition is different, then the dictionary definition is WRONG.
The first gospel was written, at best, an entire average lifetime (30-40 yrs.) after the supposed death of jesus.
