Nice spot. I only use 2# for bluegill. Rivers I use 4# and 6# on the Owens. Works for me.
Sup bro just subbed... Trout fishing is one my favs... Need to do some river fishing for trout...
Welcome to the channel dude! Looking forward to more of your videos
@@TroutWest Likewise... I have a lot of catching up to do LoL...
Great video! I love fishing the Poudre. Bellaire lake is another great spot up there.
One of my favorite rivers to fish no doubt
Yep, also Trap Lake along the Long Draw road---if you don't mind rubbing shoulders with a few bull moose!
Thanks for the breakdown!
More of this sort coming soon! Thanks for checking it out David
Thanks for this video, Is there any good river fly fishing spots in that river that are near a campground? If so what campground? Have an awesome day!
@@rylanvallente6536 there are a ton of them. That whole road going up the mountain has campgrounds. It's really a matter of which one you wanted to stop and fish and camp. I would say the better ones in the summer are up higher in the canyon. It's probably pretty hot down lower.
I’ve fished that river since I was a little kid. If you’re still in town I could show you some more spots. If you follow that river up there a turn for chambers lake, across the road is lost lake and they got a ton of grayling in there
We have left the area but we always fish the grayling at Joe wright. Such a fun fish to catch. Maybe next time in town we can link up.
@@TroutWest Are grayling good fighters?
Some of the strongest per lb I've ever fought. I have some trips coming up this fall/winter you need to try to make for those. They aren't very big for the most part in these lakes, but you can catch 50 of them every day no problem. All spoons
@@TroutWest Sounds like a blast! I'm definitely interested in making a trip out there now!
Never caught a grayling out of Lost, plenty out of Joe Wright, though. I mostly use topwater flies for maximum fun, but orange scuds work really well too. Fried up in bacon drippings for a camp breakfast... yum!
Another great video 👍🏽…. Question, thoughts on the Pautzke salmon eggs? Thinking about trying them for the Kern River…
They work great. Key with those is controlling depth of the eggs as they go through the zone.
@@TroutWest Cool. Thanks, I appreciate the info…
Thanks for the video. What does an out of state fishing liscense for a few days cost in Colorado?
5 day for $31.78... habitat stamp with your license is $10.59. that's required and I chose to get the extra rod stamp which I never ended up using for $9 and 53 cents
Great and informative video! How do you determine what size/weight lure to use? Any reports on how the santa ana river is fishing since they been stocking it every week? Thanks
The size and weight is highly dependent on the flow of water. Meaning the speed of the water and the depth of it where fish should be holding. If the water is moving fast and I believe it to be deep water and I think the fish are down on the bottom I need a very dense lure that is small and heavy so it'll get down quick before it gets pushed out of the zone where the fish are. If it's moving slow and the fish are deep I like something that catches the current a lot more . I do weekly reports on patreon covering what's going on locally and where the best action is.
Step 1.) Use a fly rod
Step 2.) Catch fish
Nah.. I want effective methods of fishing 💯
