I got a degree in biology with a heavy emphasis on evolution. Slowly I began realizing that I had actually learned a mythology. Not until I came to terms with the reality of my education was I willing to come to Christ my Savior.

Can’t remember the exact title of the Orthodox book I am quoting from here ( pretty sure it’s “Orthodox Psychotherapy: The Science of the Fathers”) but at any rate I feel these specific words I found in it are applicable to this subject:
“Scholasticism or Scholastic Theology connected knowledge with reason and this creates serious problems especially when one considers the fact that KNOWLEDGE refers to the whole of human existence and is not simply exhausted by reason… The greatest problem of western philosophy is that it identifies the Nous (the mind of the heart or eye of the soul etc.) with reason, and intellectual knowledge with existential knowledge.”
Hope these words are beneficial to someone; God bless!

Our clergy capitulate to the materialist science-fictionists…..how can they dynamically run the Church?

There have always been good and bad clergy. Saints and sons of perdition. But Christ is our Head so we are in the safety and care of his unblemished hands.

@@Damascene749 Of course, but when I engage clergy (priests, bishops) it is ALWAYS the same condescending and sarcastic smirk…..pretending they are also the intelligentsia, educated in some specific genre of scientific research, sometimes stating explicitly and others implying that science has settled the origins debate and now we have to grovel in defeat.
They pretend it doesn’t matter to faith. Yet we see the science fiction helps destroy the faith of youth for decades.
Until I found this channel a few days ago, I had not known of any modern clergy brave enough to stand for Christ’s voice over fraud and science fiction.

I have never met an Orthodox priest or bishop who supports the theory of evolution in any way. If I did meet one, I would not take his advice but rather would pray for him!

@@getoutofyourmomsbasement That’s good that you would pray for them as we do for those we have met and know. But have you actually been in conversation with all of those you say you have met and they’ve told you to your face that they reject evolution???? Or are you assuming they reject it!?

@mythologicalmyth not to deny the validity of your experiences at all brother, but I have never encountered clergy who act as you describe. They have been humble and loving, yet confident.

St. Nektarios of Aegina's "Sketch Concerning Man" is typically found in collections of his writings, often included in compilations of Orthodox Christian theological works. You may find it in books or online resources that focus on the teachings and writings of Orthodox saints. Specific publications that include his writings or compilations of his works would be the best sources to explore.

St. Nektarios of Aegina's "Sketch Concerning Man" explores the complexities of human nature. He delves into the dual aspects of the soul, highlighting the struggle between the higher, rational part and the lower, passionate aspect. The text emphasizes the importance of cultivating virtues to elevate the soul, leading to communion with God. St. Nektarios calls for self-awareness and spiritual growth to attain harmony within oneself and with the divine.
