After Pete’s funeral, it was a moment of breakthrough for Rudy to do what was right and head to South Bend for Notre Dame! RIP Pete!

If Pete never died......would Rudy still have gone to South Bend......?? Probably not...probably yes.....why did it take Pete's death for him to go to South Bend.....

Always get me that the first one we see at Pete's funeral is Frank and their last scene was them bar fighting. You can see how much Frank and Daniel (who broke up their fight) really cared for Pete, just like Rudy

You can see the guilt on Frank’s face.

Here's the question...suppose Pete DID NOT DIE in the factory accident......would Rudy still have chased after his dream just as hard if Pete was still alive??? Why did it take Pete's death to go to South Bend???

This is like the PERFECT illustration of this quote:
“The most dangerous anger is created inside someone with a good heart. Its the kind of anger born from disappointment, betrayal, and being taken for granted. When a kind soul reaches their breaking point, their anger carries the weight of unspoken sacrifices, and suppressed pain.”
This anger isn’t about revenge or retribution; it’s about the heartbreak of disappointment, unmet expectations and the deep desire for genuine connection and respect.
So the person’s anger brewing is akin to that of the breakout in the steel mill and the breaking point is akin to that the explosion that kills Rudy’s best friend Pete, which is the anger that is unleashed that is a reflection of all the profound hurt, disappointments, letdowns, unmet expectations, constant setbacks, feeling as though you are being fought every step of the way in trying to manifest your dreams, desires and people having answers for everything (e.g. “it wasn’t meant to be, the universe has different plans, or theres something better”), or just being forced or bullied into accepting a reality that you just cannot stand.
Treat those with good hearts with kindness, and the consideration they deserve. Because once their anger is unleashed, it is a reflection of profound hurt and disappointment they have endured, much like the deadly explosion in the steel mill.

Why didn't Pete get out of there faster instead of trying another valve..he could have saved himself just before the explosion had he not kept screwing around with the valves by running outta there before it exploded!!!

The situation was insane and I think in the moment he thought Rudy would come through for him.

I actually think this is one of the most important scenes in the film. Throughout the film everyone tells Rudy that he’ll fail at Notre Dame and that he should just work in the steel mill. What this scene shows is that you can fail in the mill too. And the difference between the two is literally life and death. Sometimes the “safe” choice is the most dangerous.

This reads pretty nasty...but if anyone has a dream just wait for your best friend to die in an accident so you will then go through with it!!! If Pete did not die in the accident, Rudy probably would not have even gone to Notre Dame...sadly...it took Pete's accident to convince Rudy to follow his dream.......

No, it was always included in the finished version. Not a deleted scene.
