I just stopped and started crying then called my dad and interrupted his work just to tell him I love him! We lost his dad a couple years ago and it was rough so this hit home hard!
I really hope people listen to his older stuff. 911 is one of my favorite songs of his. When I figured out what he was talking about, it rose to the top.

Yo. I just learned about Teddy yesterday, randomly, and have had I Lose Control stuck in my head ever since! Wild to see him on with our boy Brent immediately after that. Serendipitous.
I’m catching this interview late, & was so impressed, & emotionally riveted that I listened to it 3x! Bert, great job being disarming in your interview with Teddy. You made him feel comfortable, relaxed & supported. Teddy is just an unbelievable talent, his range, his soulfulness, his songwriting- it’s literally off the charts. I first heard him on RUclips & he made me feel the way I did when I first heard Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Freddie Mercury- this raw, visceral power combined with his range & control. Unbelievable interview- please have more like this & have them sing 3-5 songs, not just 1. It’s not enough Teddy for me!
My absolute favorite from teddy is his cover of Tennessee Whiskey. Love all his music but I would pay top dollar to have this man sing this song to this glorious woman in my life as my wedding song. Only because this angel of mine has helped me in my struggle with alcoholism.
That must be amazing for Holston!! As a musician I get goosebumps at the thought of getting to play a song with the artist

Bert is changing. He's becoming more vulnerable, real, acknowledging of his own faults and aware that hes been an insurrable interrupter..... even making self depricating jokes about it. His real time reaction of his love of music was something I could really appreciate. I'm hopeful for him.

Teddy (Jaten) is a great friend of mine and before blowing up big time, I was screaming from the roof tops about this man’s insanely blessed voice and soul! I was trying to wake everyone up to him and I am so happy and proud of where he is now and thrilled for his future. He is an amazing human and the world needs his music! He is finally getting the recognition he deserves. 🧸 🏊♂️

To Teddy: First off, you are awesome. Podcasts are awesome because we get to hear your heart and yours is good. To answer your question, I've heard when our fathers pass, that's a milestone of manhood. I think we do things that makes us a man up to that point, but when our father passes, it's a touchstone moment. It happened to me because my father passed early in my 20’s and I was now the Patriarch for my brother and sister and mom.

I appreciate the comment from Bert about just giving Will Smith his flowers for "being him". Because in the crazy world of entertainment that he lives in and for him to be at the level of fame that he's at and he still manages to be so genuine and kind to the people who work with him or even people who briefly meet him. It speaks volumes of his character. And it really is the little details about how people treat you, because he didn't have to actually hit up Teddy the next morning about facetiming his mom. And he didn't even have to help Bert elevate his career. So much love to Will Smith, he deserves all the flowers, especially for being in the game for 30 years, and I'm glad Bad Boys 4 is getting great reactions so far!
