Its funny how everyone cried about guard pulling. Now instead its collar ties and clubbing for 90% of a match, we dont get to see great bjj'ers fighting on the ground anymore
You’re right. The evolution curve is a rollercoaster apparently. Interestingly enough, Lovato is old school and fought at one point from guard to stand up. Not sure what the strategy was.
It’s jiu jujitsu, every aspect of it it’s great but there is a lot of ego maniacs, judging every movement, every strategy, techniques, nothing please them
It does seem like a nice meta change. Emphasizing wrestling and top position applies much better across other forms of martial arts. Mma and wrestling both beckon takedowns, top position and control when grappling. I think Bjj will not become irrelevant due to this meta change. Plus there was some super cool wrestling in this match! It also allows for an easier transition for Bjj practitioners into MMA which in turn brings attention to Bjj.
Thanks for the post. Fun match
Glad you enjoyed it! OSS
