I have owned 3 pro Angler 14's and 2 outback and 3 wilderness kayaks and by far the Lynx is my favorite platform for fishing, it is worth the money, fast, light and turns on a dime. I do run a power pole and a 7 inch lowrance dept finder with maps and a hobie crate with a dry bag in side and carry 4-6 rods all the time with a fish bag on the front and put 2 8x14 plano boxes under my seat, I got 2 pocket organizers on both sides of my seat, which hold my fish sent and couple rags. also have seat raisers and removed both straps that were usless and added a large cup holder where the right handle was., I woulden't trade my setup for no other kayak on the market today, I love this thing for fishing on any water fresh or salt, I have caught hundreds of fish with it in the last 2 years., don't worrie about the scratchs on the bottom, there are 4-5 layers, this kayak is unsinkable, never worrie about a rain storm ao large waves, you won't regret buying one, I keep it fully loaded and slide it in to the back of my ford F150 and I can launch just about anywhere i can get my truck to. you can peddle this kayak all day at a low med speed with out getting tired, because it sits on top of the water not in the water.
thanks for the vid, I've got a 2019 Outback and picking up the Lynx in a couple of weeks so I'm currently building my knowledge through others. Particularly appreciated you relaying your experience with the roll over .... there's those who have and those who will! I went over the side of my outback reaching too far for a dropped rod; but was happy to find out how easy it is to climb back on these very stable platforms. Cheers.
Gr8 honest review mate. Im considering a Lynx. I have a PA 12,its a chore even with a trailer . I need more garage space so the pa 12 and trailer is going. I like the lightness of the lynx and possibly easier to store, thinking of a hoist in garage. Rippa reddy too 👍🏼
Nice one mate. I went from a Hobie Passport to a PA 14 to an Outback to the Lynx. The Lynx wins hands down for me. I mainly fish shallow estuaries and it’s perfect. Crackn’ Reddy by the way. Cheers
Just need to improve the audio. First time filming on the kayak so it will have to be something I explore to cut out the wind noise and keep a level audio for the whole thing
Nice video mate! I reckon the lynx would be perfect for people jumping out for a swim with next to no gear and flipping it without the issue of water filling the hull up. Looks like you love it in calm water and definitely wouldn’t get stuck like the others in the shallows Nice reddie as well, I thought you kept the hot form with the scout 45 until I saw the double clutch hanging from its mouth haha
Im really thinking of getting a lynx, and in my opinion your review is one of the best out there. I keep coming back and watching ur review and learn something else which i missed. Really apprecated! Your review is gr8, no bs . Whats size is the short H-rail running athwartship? U mentioned its from a outback but out back rails on the newer models dont have those ends. Sorry to hear about ur incident. Did it have anything to do with your tackle tray overhanging outbourd catching the wave/ wind and acting as a leaver? Thanks again for an awesome review!! 😊😊 Ps i had to laugh about ur analogy of the PA 14 being the Bismark of kayaks as even the Bismark got sunk. 😂
Gday mate thanks for the comment! I will take a measurement for you and post the length. It is an extra kit I purchased from my local Hobie dealer a long time ago but I do remember it did come with everything (H rail, feet and screws) and was the perfect size for the feet to be mounted in the second set of screw plugs from the front. Can I ask what about the lynx has your interest? I assume you want it for a fishing kayak?
Thanks heaps , I look forward to getting the info on the H-rail. The lynx sparks my interests because it ticks a few boxes for me. 1/ Easy of handling, Ive had a 2015 outback and later a PA 12. Both were a pain to car top. Ended up trailering the PA . This limited some fishing spots due to parking. Car topping the Lynx looks like a peice of cake and would open up more fishing locations. 2/ Storage, the PA and trailer used to be garaged. Having upgraded my car , im using the garage for my newer car. I ended up selling the PA & trailer. I can store a Lynx hoisted up against the garage ceiling in a makeshift cradle. The lynx is about 11 ft long , it fits on the ceiling between my fully opened panel lift garage door and the rear roller door where as a 12 ft yak wont. 3/ ease of use and maintenance. Having your steering rigging external makes it easy if things go wrong. I also prefer the tiller on the right side, ( hold my rod in left hand/ whind with right hand) most single tiller yaks are left sided. The lynx is interchangeable. 4/ The H-rail compatibility. Ive kept all my H-rail accessories, they would fit readily with the addition of H-rails to the lynx. For me the pros outweigh the cons of the lynx. No other hobie fullfills the constraints I have.
Hey Tony, Ive pulled the trigger and baught a Lynx, in the process of setting it up b4 I take it out. If you can please give me the size of the H-rail going athwartships ( off a outback) that would be awesome! TIA!!😊😊
Love your detail spec video for the Lynx. I just picked up mine and would love to buy the shorter h rail you mention 5:38 from a outback. Is it possible you can give me the link to purchase or exactly the part model for it ? Thanks!
I believe it’s this one mate! hws.com.au/product/hobie-bolt-on-h-rail-kit/?attribute_pa_geartrac-size=21-inch&gclid=CjwKCAjw_YShBhAiEiwAMomsEODfaVAyrqMcm-ai2kj-NY2RXzs-OkG0GM1yMf9vLOeJzkEiHhLFxBoCLdAQAvD_BwE
I don’t fish for those species personally but I imagine it might. Best bet would be to slow right down. When there is no chop it’s quiet but maybe the outback has a better hull shape for that?
From my experiences from owning 7 Hobie kayaks for the last 15 years, The PA 14 isn't good at rough water, especially if you launch from the surf... The PA will nose dive hence Outback is better choice.. And the PA is too heavy, and you will need a trailer.. I like Lynx for the weight.. You can put a Side AMA to keep you safe against side waves... With the PA, you would have been at the same situation as your Lynx.. Hence I alway had a side AMA for that problem.. and at least Lynx will not sink if you tip over...
They are body glove water shoes. I just found I was getting terribly sun burnt feet and I also wanted something that was going to protect my feet when walking the shoreline, and have some grip when standing on the yak. They only cost me $40 or something. But I started wearing the black skins tights as well so my legs wouldn’t get so sunburnt, and it also helps with a bit of modesty with the camera looking up my shorts haha

Rippa reddy too 👍🏼
Thanks mate! Yeah I love the Lynx but it’s not an ocean goer. It has its place in the Hobie line up that’s for sure!
Good clip mate

Thanks mate! I still need to improve my filming for the audio side of this but it’s getting there!
Very well presented mate 👍

@@MightyOverlander i prefer it more natural my self
I love my FPV Battery. I have 2 12V 50 AH I use with my OldTown 120 Auto. Great batteries.
It’s been fantastic! Originally I made my own battery system but I lost that when I flipped the kayak hahaha

Nice bro
Thanks brother
Does the slap on the hull affect the fish? What about approaching bonefish, redfish, tarpon etc … is this too much noise?
I don’t fish for those species personally but I imagine it might. Best bet would be to slow right down. When there is no chop it’s quiet but maybe the outback has a better hull shape for that?

LOL, that’s literally my set up. Only difference is mine is papaya, almost everything else-same same.
It’s an easy go to set up, very effective and comfortable. I’m grabbing the seat cushion however
