This was a fantastic video Lady Pelvic, especially coming as a big fan of the FeMC route in Persona 3 it felt very validating hearing you praise how having different Social Links changes the experience of the game. I absolutely adore FeMC's SL's in particular the Saori social link and her one with Junpei. I also enjoy that the MC and FeMC do actually have different personalities just through their responses to different characters. MC starts off more dour and distant and slowly opens up throughout the game whilst gaining more confidence, meanwhile FeMC starts of with a much more peppy attitude and is more of an extravert but becomes more serious and concerned as the game progresses, or at least that was my interpretation of it. I really enjoy seeing their characters develop and mature alongside the entire cast. I’m actually playing through this game for the first time right now, and for as many issues as I have had with it I have also found many positives. Just yesterday I experienced the scene where Aigis’ persona evolves, when Mitsuru tells her that she has changed much, even changing at that very moment. I felt chills in my body as I realized that I felt much like Aegis did in that moment. I have mostly agreed with everything you have said so far. The main issue I have with this game, which carries over to 4 and 5, is that the game pushes you to play “optimally” rather than play your own way. Things like silly dialogue choices, which can often be the difference between leveling up your social link or waiting till the next time you see them(which for your party members can be a long time), are very punishing; There’s quite literally nothing to be gained from picking the wrong options, so why wouldn’t I use a guide for all my social links? Granted, I haven’t actually done that- but already I can tell I have multiple party members whose social links I won’t be able to max out which is upsetting. Anyways, this was a fun video to watch since I am playing this game as we speak. I hope to finish it the next time I boot it up, but I don’t plan on returning to it for a while unless I know I’m going for an optimal run.
We had a huge yellow moon like that last night. I should have predicted that it meant we were going to have to face a major shadow in the form of a Lady Pelvic review!!! Great video! Keep up the good work!
I will personally tell the world you are by far my favorite game reviewer. I never noticed how much the music affected my games til i watched your Octopath traveler review (first video i watched at a recommendation from another channel which i have forgotten about) the new longer video, i was skeptical but you're so detailed that the time flew by and even then i started to wonder if it needed more. Keep doing what you're doing! Im gonna keep recommending you to others who are skeptical about certain games. Heck, i played live a live at your recommendation and was floored by how amazing it was.
This brings back memories. It was my first persona game and came out when I was in high school. I spent so much time on the Fe:Mc route. My controversial opinion is that danger zone boss theme is better than the mass destruction boss theme.
I enjoyed this look into the world of Persona 3; Persona is a series that drives me absolutely UP THE WALL to actually play, so this is an ideal way of experience it, and you got really deep into it! I do tend to lean toward shorter content, because there just aren't enough hours in the day, but you're always engaging to watch because you're wise beyond your years, and you give it straight and talk like you're having a conversation with someone you know; you do not sound like a per son redding from *looks down* a script. Also, if you're wondering, the philosopher's last name is pronounced NEET-shee; I learned that when I made the mistake of thinking his first name was Frederick.
I played portable for the first time some 6 years after I played FES (my intro to SMT) and I had a similar experience of forgetting a lot of details and enjoying reexperiencing it. It’s been almost 5 years since I played portable now … just in time for Reloaded
After seeing this review, I am glad I decided to get P3 Reload as newbie to the Persona games despite wanting to play as female MC. Really love how thorough your reviews are!
Woah, I never realized how much the relationships between characters that aren't with the MC change. That is something that I wish P4 and P5 had a lot more of. They have some, but not nearly as much.
A 44 minute video! You spoil us! I almost hate to comment since as I'm writing this it's at 44 comments lol, but gotta get that algorithm working for you lol. Totally agree with your point about the characters and their inter-relationships with each others. Even today, that's still such a rare thing in RPG's. Honestly, because of how much the characters are really their OWN characters, I didn't mind doing auto-battle in FES since it felt more like they were making their own choices, and we were working as a team (despite how infuriating it could get at times lmao) Persona 3 is one of my favorite games, let alone RPG's, and means a lot to me. PSP Version's FeMC is wonderful and i love all her new music and social links (and slight change in some of her dialogue choices), they really change the vibe JUST enough to make you "feel" her personality and how she's different from the original MC (while still keeping the og story intact), which I think is really impressive for a game with a mostly-silent protagonist.
Glad you had a video was about to hit these jrpg streets to find out why some folks are skipping reloaded cause no fem mc. I can see why was curious when it comes to SMT I'm just here for the demons. Especially my boys Jack and King Frost!
I’m excited to see a longer video from you! I just started Infinite Wealth so I’m going to wait on P3R (waited 20 years already so what’s the difference?) but this is a very cool review to see
Man..... Persona 3's themes of confronting one's mortality and learning to live life with purpose resonate more and more with me as I get older. Such a great game. :) On a different note, I did enjoy the writing of the female-exclusive social links more than the male MCs: even putting the party links aside, something about the stories Rio (the athlete) and Saori's (the librarian) really stuck with me. Though that could be recency bias as I replayed part of the FEMC last year while I haven't touched the Male MC route in about a decade. With that in mind, I'm curious to see how/if my opinion has changed when I work my way through Reload!
Excellent explanation of the intricacies of P3P. Unfortunately since they used P3P instead of FES as the baseline we didn't get to see the cool cutscenes in the original persona 3 release, but the trade-off of FeMC and the different dialogue was worth it overall. And can they please bring back the enemy negotiation from one & two and the rumor system from two? :P
Great review. Loved the format, it never felt too long. If anything, it felt respectful of the game and your time playing it. What you like about this game’s cast really makes me want to recommend Midnight Suns. Characters clearly have relationships with each other and you can’t just Be Nice To Friend them all. And you can choose your gender and look as well. And it shines a light on some heroes that have never gotten their due in games to this point, like Blade and Magik. So glad the remake uses shoulder pieces instead of red arm bands, which was... a choice.
I want to walk through the school, city..everywhere with hands in the pocket, you know, like that type of anime character. Unfortunately we will not get Persona 3 Reload on switch((( Thanks for the review!
funny commercial ad cut for me went when you were reciting the beautiful lyrics of "baby baby baby baby baby bab-" then "Vaping is bad" and I was like YOOO WHATTTT PERSONA 3 TALKS ABOUT VAPING???!!!!
Brilliant review, interesting all the way through even as someone who’s completed the original and played P3P. I would love P3P to release on mobile, it’s well designed for a small screen and wouldn’t be so enjoyable on a big TV.
Amazing video! I do agree that 4 is a bit better, to me it’s cause the story pace is a lot better. But the story itself it’s better in 3. Also - yes, changing seasons is THE song from P3. What a bop! Loved everything about this video queen, just got home from work, made something to eat and watched this while relaxing. 10/10 experience.
P3 Portable was my first experience with Persona. I liked the Tartarus, loved the battles, loved the story and voice acting... but I didn't vibe with the point and click map. So I dropped it around the beach segment with Aegis. I wasn't immersed like I felt like I should be. Later, I get FES on PS3 and try it again. So. Much. Better. I gladly traded controlling party members for a more immersive world. It was so much better. Not controlling party members was only a problem in a few instances. Otherwise, it wasn't an issue I couldn't play around.
Its so genuinely disappointing that the "definitive" version of 3 will have no femc. if youre gonna out of your way to make a full definitive version dont stop halfway. Unless the game pulls a mario galaxy and goes "you can play as minako" after the credits.
Glad you enjoyed it, I was spoiled too much by persona 5 and 4 and I had hard time playing this version looking forward to the remake though. Ps do you think they will remake any of the other persona games?
It's a shame they never rebalanced the game around a drastic change in gameplay. P3FES isn't exactly a hard game either unless it's your first Megaten. I found the hate for the AI to be overblown, although I will always choose full-control if I can. I'm also more of a P4 fan, even with the original PS2 version I always preferred it over 3.
What you said in the beginning about missing out on social links is why I hate that this series punishes you, exactly why I refuse to play reload without a guide once it’s released
Its the biggest annoyance with the newer persona games since 3 and i will mever olay these guideless because the amount of stuff u miss is just as bad as a legend of heroes game.
@@Jack-nj9pi thank you!!! Beyond frustrating lol I might have to postpone my playthrough until someone uploads one online for reload, infinite wealth will keep me busy until then
I only ever played it on my PS2. I saw this on Switch and got it thinking I could replay it and didn't realize what the portable version was. I was disappoint 😢
Persona 3 gave me major Majora's Mask vibes, being so dark and existential. I love this game but it still doesn't beat out 4 for me. I, like you, got the bad ending the first time around. I didn't reload cause it had been a good long while since my last save and I didn't want to redo several hours of progress, battles, etc... so the more logical thing was to restart the game entirely determined to do better... no I'm not an idiot... okay, maybe I am but the point is, I love this series so much, that screw up didn't bother me enough to not give it another go immediately I appreciate how much ground work 3 laid down and is an incredible and unforgettable gaming experience. Im curious to see how the remake might tweak those few flaws the original had and excited to give my second favorite existential nightmare another go. Persona is majorly influential in getting me into RPGs, and I'm glad the series seems to keep growing and reaching more people. Between 3R and Metaphor ReFantazio alone, 2024 is a hype ass year for gaming
Totally forgot to comment. Loved the video and really nice to see a bit of love for my first persona. Rmember playing the hell out of Persona 3 portable when I was 16 on my jailbroken psp and had to buy a physical copy when I was in new york 2 years ago. Loved all the vagina jokes. Hilarious double entendre. Can't wait to see the next review
Great review. I love the 1st 3 games more and I wish they were ported over but I guess I’ll have to emulate them. I do like P4 over P3 though. Bring back the PS1 classics!
@@PelvicGaming You need to trademark “Fem MC” lol. That’s freaking awesome! Also why is Yukari acting like that’s a real gun when she knows it not? I may have missed something.
I would have put Him and Her together in the same game Once the protagonist is chosen, the other is a Sees member, with new Personas and exclusive Confidant (He can be Hanged and She can be Temperance) Even with her as the protagonist I would change the Personas, her Orpheus has the name of a muse, Tanathos also had a sister Ker, the goddess of violent deaths and in war.. As a third sport, would I give her rhythmic gymnastics, if He is in a swimsuit, She in a leotard?
Played it for the first time, got 70 hours in loving every minute of portable. Then what got me was the announcement of the remake as I deleted it off the Xbox 😂
I played a bit of FES but man no bro buddies, no team commands, no personality. FeMC is just so much better. I just wish the remake had included her, that was such a rip off
I played “Persona 3” when it came out on PS2, but for whatever reason didn’t finish it and “P3: Portable” was my first real playthrough of the game and just an amazing port and probably the best version of the game until “P3: Reload”. (Although if they give us either the choice of the original soundtrack or the ability to purchase it as DLC. Not feeling the new tracks or new interpretations of old tracks. The original’s music was perfect, dang it!). And Mitsuru is BEST PERSONA WAIFU!!! Yukari is great in battle though. (And Makoto is runner-up, 😂)
One of the things I hate in Portable is how e don't see the 3D NPC's reacting to your actions, I love how yuko moves her hands when she talks to you, it gives out a bit of her personallity. And I think this is completelly lost in SL's on Portable. The fast travel is cool, but with the fact that it's super fast to get from point A to B in the normal world, it's not a feature I think is necessary. It would be way better utilized on FES. About animated cutscenes, I am a bit worried with P3R because it seems the awakening scene is in-engine, and nothing will ever beat full animations. No matter how good 3D models looks.
I played every version, loved them all because the theme is SO strong and well done that all problems are not a problems at all. My fav game of all, so happy with the remake.
Considering how much cash I give Igor to buy back my old personas, he is absolutely getting paid enough to put up with this shit. Just played through this one myself as prep for Reload, and had a very similar experience, remembering major plot points, but not really how it all tied together. I loved getting to see things through the female route, too. My favorite difference in perspective being Fuuka. Getting to hang out with her in the kitchen felt like I was getting to know her much better than the male route. I've never understood the hate for Tartarus, though. I'd have been really bored if it had an unchanging layout. The randomness keeps it from being memorized and all the treasure emptied. It's always different, and there's always more loot, so it never feels repetitive to me. But I do love dungeon crawls in RPGs. It's a big part of why I stick with the SMT franchise. In fact, I like it so much that after going through P3P, I needed more, and pulled out the old FES edition to play through the Answer again. Because I'm apparently the only person on the planet who liked that part.
Really nice video that was funny and I agreed with a lot of what you had to say about it. However there is a crime you committed and that is butchering the name of poor KOROMARU. Not once or twice but three whole times you called him Kokomaru and even when you had his name shown directly in a clip that said Koromaru you still called him Kokomaru.
Tbh 3 is still my least favorite in the series. Tartarus is just... Meh. Some of the mini bosses were fun challenges but going through dungeon itself is a disappointment when pretty much every other main game has more interesting ones, 1&2 included. I also just don't fw the aesthetic of the dark hour in general. It's... Goofy. Like i get its supposed to be a bizarre trippy vibe, but it looks like a school kid's vision of what's "creepy" lol. But still, i enjoyed the game. Social stuff was fun, this is the best written cast of the post-Tadashi and co games imo (they're not my favorite but still I'll concede the best written). But what i like about the series most is the usual RPG dungeon crawling stuff. Where it lacks. So still a good time, but i like it the least. Also as a fellow coom- I mean.... Appreciator of good looking fictional folk, I respect the Theodore thirst. I'm sure the browser history is one to be proud of. Also also, love your hair here
Personal 3 is one of those games that I absolutely love with all my heart and will recommend it to any JRPG fan that has yet to play it; however, I don't think i could ever bring myself to replay it. I love the music, themes, characters, and think the social link stories of this game has yet to be topped, and look back with so many font memories. But I just can't bring myself to want to replay it, and that's because of Tartarus. Dear god Tarturus is such a slog. And while I know Persona 4's dungeons are essential the same as Tartarus--randomly generated maps with different wall textures--the different musics and the fact that all of P4's dungeon floors combined are still a fraction of the length of Tartarus make it a bit more palatable. Even (at least in P3FES) the ability to press a button and select a completely different music track did little to ease the monotony of Tartarus.
This isn’t the way to experience persona 3 in my opinion. The FES version is the best way to experience. The og version on the psp is also good. This remaster was just disappointing to me.
I mean listen I LOVE FES. You won't catch me disrespecting FES, but I think this is still fun. I really enjoyed the social links and having relationships with ALL SEES members.
@@PelvicGaming I’m glad you enjoyed it. Persona 3 is a great time for anyone, it’s just this remaster compared to persona 4 golden and persona 5 royal was just disappointing.
People love to shit on this game because it lacks the 3D maps outside of Tartarus but I honestly like it. I really don't like maps in the original P3, most of them feel empty and things look way too big compared to your character, they really improved this aspect in P4. Not having the animated cutscenes sucks tho. I get why they got rid of them but still sucks.
Yeah..... No. Persona 3 has atrocious story pacing and a repetitive dungeon. Not sure why so many JRPG fans put up with that "It gets good 30 hours into it, I -promise-!"
I won't argue that the pacing is perfect, times where it's cut scenes galore focusing on the cast other times it's yeah a repetitive dungeon, but I enjoy sitting with the cut scenes, the cast, watching them goof around. But I think P3 deserves a lot of credit because this is the game that put Persona on the map. The formula has only be refined over the years. Also...idk where you got in 30 hours P3 becomes good. I was in it frame one, BUT I can admit it does take a while for the ball to get rolling.
I'd welcome cutscenes compared to what's actually there. P4 had a lot better of a handle on the pacing, where it almost felt like an episode of an anime after a major boss as a reward. P3, or at least P3P, owing to the VN style, doesn't have that. Maybe it has more personality on PS2.@@PelvicGaming

Fem's battle theme is such a banger
After seeing this review, I am glad I decided to get P3 Reload as newbie to the Persona games despite wanting to play as female MC. Really love how thorough your reviews are!
Woah, I never realized how much the relationships between characters that aren't with the MC change. That is something that I wish P4 and P5 had a lot more of. They have some, but not nearly as much.
4 seconds in and You already playing one of my favorite songs!! This is about to be good!!
Honestly, because of how much the characters are really their OWN characters, I didn't mind doing auto-battle in FES since it felt more like they were making their own choices, and we were working as a team (despite how infuriating it could get at times lmao)
Persona 3 is one of my favorite games, let alone RPG's, and means a lot to me.
Fantastic review with so much attention for the small details.
Congrats on reaching 50k subscribers, lady! Quality content never goes unnoticed.
Glad you had a video was about to hit these jrpg streets to find out why some folks are skipping reloaded cause no fem mc.
I can see why was curious when it comes to SMT I'm just here for the demons. Especially my boys Jack and King Frost!
Persona 4 had the catchiest song in video game history: Your Affection! I can hear it in my head right now ....
Your read of the battle music lyrics killed me lol
Great video! P3P is the only way I’ve played P3, and so I’m a bit biased but I love it. Can’t wait for Reload this week!
Whoa!! 44 minutes! Love the longer runtime. Great review. I just started playing Persona 5, it’s my first in the series.
The song at the end of Portable is worth a playthrough alone!
Awesome video!!! I'm stoked to finally play P3 with Reload coming out!
On a different note, I did enjoy the writing of the female-exclusive social links more than the male MCs: even putting the party links aside, something about the stories Rio (the athlete) and Saori's (the librarian) really stuck with me.
Though that could be recency bias as I replayed part of the FEMC last year while I haven't touched the Male MC route in about a decade. With that in mind, I'm curious to see how/if my opinion has changed when I work my way through Reload!
Also, yes: Changing Seasons and Sun are both S-Tier tracks. :)
The reaper bit was hilarious
That was a great review! So fun to watch and full of your opinions! Keep making more like this one :)
New Pelvic upload, and it's a bigger video!🙏
I'm trying!
Unfortunately we will not get Persona 3 Reload on switch(((
Thanks for the review!
funny commercial ad cut for me went when you were reciting the beautiful lyrics of "baby baby baby baby baby bab-" then "Vaping is bad" and I was like YOOO WHATTTT PERSONA 3 TALKS ABOUT VAPING???!!!!
Brilliant review, interesting all the way through even as someone who’s completed the original and played P3P.
I would love P3P to release on mobile, it’s well designed for a small screen and wouldn’t be so enjoyable on a big TV.
Atlus, give this woman a Persona 3 care package! She deserves it
Underatted Channel
Amazing video! I do agree that 4 is a bit better, to me it’s cause the story pace is a lot better. But the story itself it’s better in 3.
Also - yes, changing seasons is THE song from P3. What a bop!
Loved everything about this video queen, just got home from work, made something to eat and watched this while relaxing. 10/10 experience.
Still stunningly beautiful, I see
Thank you. :)
Great review.
I really hyped for the remake that will come in days. It even gets excited to make covers of persona 3.
Omg, the remake is gonna be FIRE.
@@PelvicGaming YEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSS!!!!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
The cutscenes were probably left out in portable due to psp disk storage limitations. Same with the 3d overworld
Been waiting for this 👏🏿
P3 Portable was my first experience with Persona.
It pains me how underrated Pelvic Gaming really is. She's so dedicated it's diabolical
Its so genuinely disappointing that the "definitive" version of 3 will have no femc.
if youre gonna out of your way to make a full definitive version dont stop halfway. Unless the game pulls a mario galaxy and goes "you can play as minako" after the credits.
Why i am waiting on a deep sale as its not worth it with the missing content like answer.
also given how quickly Atlus games go on sale you can probably check back in 3-4 months and itll be like 20-30 off.
Glad you enjoyed it, I was spoiled too much by persona 5 and 4 and I had hard time playing this version looking forward to the remake though. Ps do you think they will remake any of the other persona games?
100% agree about not using a guide the first play through. It becomes more like homework when following a guide to hit all social links imo
Yeah.... it does. It loses the fun of picking questionable choices even if it costs you a few points.
Shoutout to minako
awesome video, I love the longer form, cheers :)
It's a shame they never rebalanced the game around a drastic change in gameplay. P3FES isn't exactly a hard game either unless it's your first Megaten. I found the hate for the AI to be overblown, although I will always choose full-control if I can. I'm also more of a P4 fan, even with the original PS2 version I always preferred it over 3.
y'know in some ways Memento Mori just means YOLO
What you said in the beginning about missing out on social links is why I hate that this series punishes you, exactly why I refuse to play reload without a guide once it’s released
Its the biggest annoyance with the newer persona games since 3 and i will mever olay these guideless because the amount of stuff u miss is just as bad as a legend of heroes game.
@@Jack-nj9pi thank you!!! Beyond frustrating lol I might have to postpone my playthrough until someone uploads one online for reload, infinite wealth will keep me busy until then
44 minutes! You’re spoiling us lol
Aw shucks. I'm trying! Thanks for watching!
I only ever played it on my PS2. I saw this on Switch and got it thinking I could replay it and didn't realize what the portable version was.
I was disappoint 😢
I think my biggest issue with P3 is that I have only played the Portable version, hopefully the remake will make me enjoy it more.
Persona 3 gave me major Majora's Mask vibes, being so dark and existential. I love this game but it still doesn't beat out 4 for me. I, like you, got the bad ending the first time around. I didn't reload cause it had been a good long while since my last save and I didn't want to redo several hours of progress, battles, etc... so the more logical thing was to restart the game entirely determined to do better... no I'm not an idiot... okay, maybe I am but the point is, I love this series so much, that screw up didn't bother me enough to not give it another go immediately
I appreciate how much ground work 3 laid down and is an incredible and unforgettable gaming experience.
I would LOVE if Persona 2 was remade. It looks too old for me to go back too but god damn, when I read the wiki I wish I experienced the game ;w;
@@PelvicGaming You need to trademark “Fem MC” lol. That’s freaking awesome!
Also why is Yukari acting like that’s a real gun when she knows it not? I may have missed something.
I would have put Him and Her together in the same game
Once the protagonist is chosen, the other is a Sees member, with new Personas and exclusive Confidant (He can be Hanged and She can be Temperance)
Even with her as the protagonist I would change the Personas, her Orpheus has the name of a muse, Tanathos also had a sister Ker, the goddess of violent deaths and in war..
As a third sport, would I give her rhythmic gymnastics, if He is in a swimsuit, She in a leotard?
Played it for the first time, got 70 hours in loving every minute of portable. Then what got me was the announcement of the remake as I deleted it off the Xbox 😂
14:44 me remembering this channel is called pelvic gaming lol
I played a bit of FES but man no bro buddies, no team commands, no personality. FeMC is just so much better. I just wish the remake had included her, that was such a rip off
Is it just me or did the camera quality in this video just went up?
I couldn't choose between 3 & 4. I like them both. 5 is good, but missed something the other 2 had.
Dude I feel the same!
I remember buying P3 portal just to have it but never actual played it Cool to hear that you are learning Japanese. How goes learning?
I played every version, loved them all because the theme is SO strong and well done that all problems are not a problems at all. My fav game of all, so happy with the remake.
Nice video, It would be cool if the video has time stamps. It really helps with long videos
Lmaooo you dressed as the shadow
43:39 ayo 😂😂😂
1:18 just choked on my food 😭😭😭
I like the new hair
EPIC Video!
I played the psp version on my phone and can't get into it o well to each his own
Can you direct commands them in this version?
Absolutely!
@@PelvicGaming thanks.
igor best man
Really nice video that was funny and I agreed with a lot of what you had to say about it.
Even (at least in P3FES) the ability to press a button and select a completely different music track did little to ease the monotony of Tartarus.
dope
I want to play it, but I hate 2D visual novels :w
