    This video was made in celebration of Persona 3 Reload dropping this week, and I’m super excited for the game! I thought this would be a fun idea to go over everything we know about the protagonist so far through a couple of the adaptations, and we can compare it to reload if they decide to make some big changes!
    I hope you enjoy!

    I love how Makoto’s dialogue choices slowly become more emotional and empathetic as the year goes by. He starts as very apathetic but he gets more expressive in the dialogue. Meeting SEES and all his friends, he finally got to live again after being on autopilot annd forced to live with Death itself after his family died. By the end of the journey he’s absolutely unshakable and saves humanity both its highs and lows.

      This is also what I liked from the original game. It totally changed my perspectives around psychology. Most of Makoto's dialogue choices is predictively wouldn't have any effect on the outcome of the conversation. But the choices represents his wild inner monologue. I began to realize and quickly relate with him because as a person, we all have those wild intrusive thoughts at the back of our mind, but we ended up not voicing it due to some circumstances. It's a completely different usage of game's dialogue choices.
      Rather than give you actual options, it lets you immerse yourself as "Makoto", in the sense that you don't actually have a choice, but you can choose your perspectives upon the world.

    My favorite thing about makoto, he encouraged everyone to live to their full potential. He had such an influence on people that they ended up doing just that. Like a true Messiah he changed everything for the better, even when people don’t see it. Not only being the strongest protagonist as well for unlocking the power of the universe, but with undying will and determination he made the impossible possible. Stood up to all mankind and made the ultimate sacrifice for everyone to have a chance to live happily.

    This game and Makoto as a whole honestly managed to save my life not once but twice. As a kid I played persona 3 fes on ps3 during a very hard time when I lost my grandfather, I had been assaulted, and my depression was at an all time high, I couldn’t figure out what to live for, I was constantly sleeping, I was barely eating, this game gave me hope that I could find friends like the characters in the game to give me a reason to live. I did I made friends I pulled myself back from the brink and I lived for my friends and loved ones. Then 10 years later after I had my heart broken in a failed engagement, lost contact with my friends, lost my job, and was staring the abyss down again, the game got remade and showed me that same hope all over again.

      @@chiffoncakeandteaThat is up to debate but we saw the collective unconcious birth a god and we know Igor although very powerful also serves Philemon. • @BelBelle468
      @BelBelle468 8 месяцев назад +13

      @@LuizOtavioZen i doubt it. Remember that “messiah”, while using some Jesus symbolism, never establishes itself as “Jesus”. Messiah is a UNIVERSAL figure. This isn’t like Ren who has Satanael, explicitly a Christian demon or Yu who uses a Japanese one. The themes of the game are less Christianity in focus and more Greek tragedy.
      Makoto does “return” to fulfill his promise in March before leaving again. He’s already returned and it’s doubtful he’ll return a 2nd time.
      It’s also kinda funny ppl keep saying this about the mc when the game itself makes a comment about Christian propaganda obscuring truth. The truth is that he’s dead, and the Christian concepts are what ppl use to say he could return. If anything, his soul can be freed but with what the Answer establishes, it feels pointless and destroys the meaning of the epilogue. I know ppl don’t like the message cus they want purely happy endings, but a story about how ppl regress and the continuous fight to stay hopeful is a good one.1

    • @LuizOtavioZen
      @LuizOtavioZen 8 месяцев назад +21

      @@BelBelle468You raise good points but i disagree when you say that it could not happen because the theme of the game is more a greek tragedy than a christian fable. There are plenty of greek mythological figures that came back from the realm of the dead and there are a lot of parallel between Makoto and Jesus, hell he was even crucified at one point in the story and the seal resembles that. Elizabeth looking for a way to save him means it is not impossible otherwise Igor and Philemon would've prevent her from doing it.
      If his soul can be freed it means he could come back, we've seen weider things in the personaverse. How he would return is debatable, because like you said having him back like nothing happened would be against the epilogue. But seeing him return as a new guide like Igor would've make his story come full circle and we seen Igor been replaced once already.
      But that is just my theory. And everyone is free to disagree.

    Something I never see mentioned about Makoto is also how *early* he seems to be set up as Saviour. His first Fusion Spell is Cadenza, which is in part born of Orpheus. It's effect is healing damage and increasing evasion/hit rate. In other words, it heals what damage had been done in the past and increases the parties chances of avoiding similar misfortune in the future.
    It already sets him up at the start to not only heal/move on from his own trauma, but those around him as well.
    And this follows up later in the Fusion of Messiah with (what I personally at least would describe as its "unique" skill) Salvation, fully restoring the parties HP and recovering ailments. I'd like to think its not just game balance that stops this spell from straight up raising people but also the fact that the entire story of P3 is reconciling with the past, healing and moving on, even if you've suffered loss and misery along the way.

    • @YandereGogeta
      @YandereGogeta  9 месяцев назад +5

      Yeah Cadenza in retrospect is really smart to be the first fusion spell / theurgy. He's got the best support in the early game, and then he can easily be the best support in the late game as well through the salvation skill. It makes total sense considering the narrative and his character.

    I feel like this game did change my life, i remember my early life i clearly had no goal, having cringe ahh divorced parents that also had drug problems broke my early childhood and filled me with a deep depression that also ruined many of my relationships over the years. To this day i still remember how hard i cried as makoto closed his eyes at the end, the words aigis said "sometimes we just need to care for someone, and thats enough" (I'm paraphrasing here i know but she said something akin to that) resonated so much within my soul i broke down for hours, all I've ever wanted was to be loved by someone else for all my life. I remember the secon life "goal" I'd set myself was to live a normal life with a family and a nice paying job. Those might seem like mediocre things but to me they were impossible to even begin to comprehend, once i hit 21ish (still very depressed) i felt this stinging paing in my chest and this insane will to live/fear of death I'll never forget, i felt like the world was closing in on me, that i had nothing and no one and it kinda switched something in me, it truly made me want to live, that's the beginning of how i stopped being fully depressed. My goal in life is no longer to be loved or be wanted or to bear children or to try and beat my parents at their own game, i just want to be nice, be kind to the people i love such as my family and my friends, i want them to be happy and i want to believe that if one day I'm gone, they'll be glad they met me, not because of my achievements but because of our memories together. I'm not perfect i still have a ways to go, i still sometimes desire love, sometimes i project this desire unto others by telling them stuff like "hey, if you ever feel alone I'm always here to help, i care for you" but in reality I'm telling that to myself, I'm projecting my need of being cared unto others and it's sad, even for me, befause im hiding it behind being nice, but the first part to changing anything is to recognize it. i just played reload and it made me cry too, makotos life was beautiful, filled with great memories, with friends aplenty and they for sure will remember him forever, i want that, i don't want to be loved for the sake of being loved, i want to learn to love myself to love others and to be remembered fondly, like him someday.
    Thank you if you read all of this, just randomly venting here at 3 am haha, have a nice day/night and hope you have a nice fulfilling life :)

He is a curious individual who is open to trying out most things yet lacking a strong conviction or direction, a lot of changes will happen to him on his journey and some could be quick and abrupt which can leave lasting impressions on them, should he be open to these changes and learn from them then it could lead him to experience a change in their outlook giving them the strength of their newfound conviction to face what the world will will throw at them.

    I've been searching for Makoto's character analysis since the release of P3 Reload, and I found one. Finally.
    Your essay here is telling that you understand Makoto's character. Good job.
    So yeah, let me say this that I freaking love Makoto. He's my fav persona protagonist. I could say his character development is one of the best. It's beautiful really. From a boy who doesn't care about anything, to a boy who do care about everything. It's always touched me ngl.
    Your essay here even helped me voicing about what I feel about Makoto, especially his charm.
    FYI, in my eyes, Makoto has this "charm" that made him different from Yu and Ren. Sure Yu and Ren are charming too as protagonist, but Makoto just feel different. Like, Makoto has this natural charm that made you know that you can count on him. It's hard to put it into a words, but it was like everything will be okay as long as he's there (something like that). Definitely a charming leader, and your words helped me realize that it was his connection to Orpheus lore that made Makoto feels so different.
    Dude really is a badass. Although his character design can be considered cute for me, he held so much resolve and power. It's like a reminder don't judge the book by it's cover lol.

    The reason why Makoto Yuki is my favorite protagonist is because of how much I resonated with his story. I felt for him so much when he closed himself to others in fear of losing people he loved and learning to overcome it. This game actually changed my life and helped me through a very difficult time of my life, helped me understand why I needed to keep living and what I need to live for. While I still struggle, I often look back to the lessons of Makoto's and P3's overall story to remind me of the what's important. The movie did a really great job expanding on his character because I feel like its not as apparent in the game about his struggle with his emotions and the death of his parents, and so when I played Reload I tried role playing a bit with the extra characterization from the movie. It's actually a wonderful thing that a game can affect people's lives so strongly. Thank you for making this analysis it opened my eyes to some things I missed about his character story and design.

    I absolutely love Makoto as a protagonist and as a person.
    His change throughout the game is one of the biggest character developments in the persona series, and one you don't even really recognize at first if you aren't looking closely.
    He goes from seeing life as useless and worthless, only living because he's not dead, to valueing life so much.
    Literally seeing death as nothing to be scared of at first because he has nothing valueable in life, to seeing death as nothing to be scared of in the end BECAUSE he has found so many valueable things in life, like all the friends, bonds and memories he's made that are worth it to protect and fight for them at any cost.

    i can even began to describe the way i cried at the end not 1 not 2 but every single time i have finished either a game or the movies, even now to this day with reload.. i cant help but cry eveeytime i see the end or at least shed a tear at memories of you.
    Makoto has always been my favorite character, despite being a silent protagonist just look at his character develop its just... so sublime, majestic, beautiful. I love him so much, This game changed my life, he and p3 taught me 'how to live' no i wasnt aphatethic like makoto but i never felt 'alive' either, i was 14 when i first played P3FES i didnt felt 'alive' in the sense of feeling worthless like i wasnt doing anything good, i looked at my friends all with talents and skills.. but me? I only had my hobbies such as listening to music and videogames my friends also got better grades and i just felt really really inferior, worthless and well even now at 18 i dont really have what you would call a great talent except maybe that i speak 2 languages and im currently learning 2 more, im happy to say that it makes proud.
    But to me back then when i was still learning english it felt like it was the only good thing i had, the only worth, my only value. I feared failure and my parents disappointment while not being told to get the best grades they always wanted me to do great so i always found myself comparing myself to everyone else, crying because of a single bad grade and just feeling so anxious seeing my friends do better in most things if not all with little to no apparent effort
    I related to makoto a lot because i simply did what i was asked to do, head on no hesitation you could say i was a good kidand well thats was about it back then, but did really cared about grades? Was it really important to me? Was that what i wanted to do? Couldnt i just be happy trying my best with no pressure? I never wanted to be the best at school just be myself, but now while i may not be the most interesting or skilled person im can confidently say.. that im happy with myself :) persona 3 and in fact the whole persona franchise played a great role in that and ill always be grateful for that.
    But the thing that P3 and Makoto helped me with the most was just what p3 knows to teach accepting life and accepting death, a couple of years before getting to know persona and p3 i lost a really close family member an uncle that i was really close to, and i struggled with accepting that he was gone i couldnt hear his name without wanting to cry, so after learning about makotos past i once again related to him aswell as the other characters, yukari, ken, koromaru, mitsuru, akihiko.. i knew that feeling but watching as makoto and the others stuck together and kept moving forward brought me a warm feeling perhaps calmness or happiness by the end.. makotos end of the journey brought back that feeling of lost, i cried a lot that first time (still cried every other time i finished the game again, watched the movies, listened to memories of you, or recently when finished reload) but just like SEES i had to keep living, im still alive... as the game itself would say memento mori... remember that you will die, i have to life my life to the fullest, enjoy every little joy that a new day brings, in the end the same awaits to all of us but thats why share with your loved ones and live even if it can be hard sometimes its important, to live knowing that just existing is reason enough to live, you dont need to change the world or be a great goal to have a reason to live, something as simple as enjoying your hobbies, learn something new, do what you like to do, looking forward to something no matter how bif or small, spend time with your loved ones.. is more than enough reason to live
    Thats also why akinaris social link (best social link ever it hits hard though) is my favorite of all the franchise, just existing is enough reason to live and to do what you like :")
    Last but not least THE MUSIC i love it so much my fsvorite ost right there with sonic, while playing reload the first time i got to hear color your night for the first time i felt full of love, like as if atlus made the song with tha purpose of making you feel welcome: a willingness to face challenges and keep moving forward no matter what obstacles may arise, the impact one person can have on another's life, bringing joy and colors to ones life, expressing gratitude for the support and strength..
    I really like to think that color your night has a lot to do with makoto maybe even a little more than burn my dread
    Another wander in the night
    Let me paint the view
    Colour the town with my light
    For every moment shared with you
    I like to think that the chorus here its talking about how makoto enjoys spent time with everyone and the other way around
    Not out in the day
    But never fully gone
    Going to be back again
    Until the coming of a dawn
    While this one talks to the fans, even if we know how things will end, that doesnt stop us from being able to enjoy the journey once more and go to the very end with makoto and SEES, even with the end they will still be there for us everytime we want to take the journey, while the the rest of the chorus will be talking about how sees will stay together no matter what.. thats what i think anyway 😅
    Lastly id like to say that the first time i finished the game or rather the game finished with me (😭) i felt like i grew up with makoto for the better and P3 will always be an important game for me :)
    IM SO SORRY FOR TALKING SO MUCH 😔🤐

Hearing all of the stories of people such as yourself on how this game helped to change your life is magical to me, and the fact my video was able to bring forth such thought provoking discussions such as this one makes me proud.

I only say this to add onto what you said about the small (or big) things in life making it all worth it.

    Thank you for the video! I'm so glad the algorithm blessed me with this and lead me to your channel. I really really love Makoto and that was in a huge part due to the movies' portrayal of him and his character development (it's also why I call him Makoto even though I knew him as Minato among the fandom first).
    I think it's really fascinating how he has an arc across each movie as well as across movies, and how his character development isn't linear. He doesn't just keep getting better as the movies progress, but instead finds something important to him, then starts to fear losing these important friendships, then regresses because of his guilt, then finally finds his resolve to push through. I think you articulated really well how his character develops and the reasons I love him so much. It's also really interesting how his arc makes Strega such a good foil for him (the Chidori example you pointed out, as well as some new content in Reload regarding how Takaya feels about SEES trying to eliminate the Dark Hour).
    It's nice to find such a video essay delving into the movies' characterisation since those who probably haven't watched the movies often just think of him as a "blank slate"/"I don't care" character, and I do think this characterisation is somewhat in line with his other depictions in spinoffs such as PQ as well.
    Looking forward to more Persona analysis videos!

    P3 is one of my favourite Persona games it really hit me, and i could relate to the MC cause i didn't care if i died but after playing through it i started to care about my life a little bit more
    plus there was the sun SL which was so sad he had a poor constitution and didn't have long to live and he just accepted it and thinks that no one will understand him but as you max it out he starts to open up and care and want to finish his story before he dies and when you max it out he disappears
    It's just like how the MC was at the beginning as you progress he starts to care and forge bonds with all his SL people say P5 is the best Persona game but you gotta give it to P3 and P3R for the best SL and the story it hits your emotions hard

    Some strong scenes that were in the movie, like Makoto's "Live.." scene or aigis trying to kill ryoji scene, weren't in the reload game (sadly, i haven't played the FES or portable ver.) .. such pivotal lines why cut them out? Or are they in The Answer dlc? I personally felt that P3R had more of a happy theme throughout, whereas the movie and fes version felt much darker.

  • @thatoneguy5347
    @thatoneguy5347 9 месяцев назад +10

    I believe something that would be cool is to have Makoto confront Aigis about the death of his parents. I think it would be neat is if he initially blamed Aigis for what happened to his parents once he found out what happened on the bridge, being the most emotionally he’s ever been at this point. And reflecting the people both Makoto and Aigis used to be, while Aigis used to be a stoic machine who rushed into battle with no regard for others, Makoto used to be a stoic man who rushed into battle with no regard for himself, and he could acknowledge that not only Aigis has grown passed that, but he has as well.
    But I understand why they didn’t do that and I do like what they went for

    • @YandereGogeta
      @YandereGogeta  9 месяцев назад +5

      That could have been a really cool premise and it would have been a big moment of growth and vulnerability for both of them to grow out of together, which would have then made the impact of The Answer hit even harder. Like you said though it's understandable why they didn't take that path since Makoto just isn't that kind of person he's way too understanding and kind

    An interesting fact about Makoto is that, if you fuse both "Makoto Yuki" and "Minato Arisato" as you would personas or second and third awakenings, his name would be "Mikoto Ariyuki", which roughly translates to "Lord/Highness Of Existence/Happiness/The Deliberate/Unselfish/Servanthood", alotted to be "green", "four", "King Of Life Over Death".
    And if you fuse "Sakuya" and "Kotone" into "Sakone Shiomi", which would more or less translate to "Wisdom/Intelligence/Humanity/Sound Of The Sea Waves".
    *(I'll be calling the protagonist Mikoto Ariyuki, just like I do in all my playthroughs)
    If you recall Persona 3's ending, right before Mikoto Ariyuki unleashes The Seal over Nyx, he was given The Universe Arcana, and if you know anything about the Collective Unconscious and the lore behind Persona after what happened in Persona 2, you know that reality was remade in such a way that humanity would survive as long as certain people never met nor remembered what happened about the loss of humanity, all within a new universe.
    Also, Ryoji, as Nyx's Avatar, is treated as Death being given humanity, sort of like a being "coming down" from many dimensions and compressed into a single being to be able to communicate with other humans after being freed from matter.
    Well, what if that's exactly the case with Mikoto Ariyuki?
    Both Mikoto and Ryoji are the lore all over again: Before being Ryoji, Death existed before Mikoto was born, the same way the maternal mother or alien entity known as Nyx existed before The Earth was as it is, and only after Death came to dwell inside Mikoto did a metamorphosis occur, and the one who put it inside Mikoto was an Aeon; Aegis.
    Going by the same logic of "I am thou, thou art I", it means as much as: Death was introduced to the Universe, and hit the Earth, which forced it to adapt via a dimension known as the Collective Unconcious.
    This happened in the form of celestial bodies colliding, and then, it happened in the form of people.
    Ergo, Ryoji is Death, and Mikoto is The Universe being born human, through which the Collective Unconscious lives.
    Mikoto isn't just a man living inside the Collective Unconscious, he IS the Collective Unconscious given human form and also the king over existence as a whole who bestows the same power, through the sea of souls, to allow for the birth of other souls that come after him.
    He IS the Universe and the sea of souls in human form, battling Death to prevent Death from overcoming all lifeforms, and the one to bring happiness in a world desolate with depression. To put it simply, if Philemon is the Master of the Collective Unconscious, Mikoto is what devides Death from the Universe, and also the Universe, and he willingly signed a contract, long before he was born, as a soul, just as Yu and Akiren did, hence, why there's a contract each time before birth and rebirth, and the contract in Mikoto's dorm, is basically a reconfirmation of what the player does, since he was born already having sealed his fate, which is why he is always predestined to reincarnate, each time, forever, in order to preserve the continual existence of all things within the Universe.
    In many ways, Mikoto would be The Universe born as a result of the failure to save humanity in the previous reality in Persona 2, he would also be The Universe given human form, also The King And Servant Of The Collective Unconscious, as well as The Universe not dying, but simply returning to its original, formless state after The Universe passes away in human form, ultimately "ascending", while Death was given life through it so that, from a formless entity, he became a human lifeform.
    The theme playing in the final battle, or "The Hymn Of The Sea Of Souls", while fighting Nyx's avatar, is The Universe Fighting Death, and I don't mean it because of the tarot cards: I mean it quite literally. The tarots are a representation of who Death and the Universe are, so by logic, Ryoji is literally Death, and Mikoto is The Universe in human form, realizing that he is not just merely a lifeform, and, transcending, he straight-up levitates and enters the moon to defeat Death through the medium he created known as the Collective Unconscious.
    Essentially, it means that Mikoto is the ruler and simultanously the servant of the collective unconscious, because, before he initiated the cycles of rebirth, he designed everything in such a way that he would die and transform Death into Life so that, by giving his life, another might live, and this happens over and over and over again without end, matrix-style.
    Basically, The Universe is conscious and is a man, both King and Servant of the Collective Unconscious he created, together with his velvet servants and Philemon, who are at the core of the Collective Unconscious.
    So, whenever you hear the Hymn Of The Soul during the final battles, remember that the Sea Of Souls is rooting for their Master, and also the Master over Death and Tartarus above Ryoji, Death and Nyx, and also the Father of all lifeforms of this sub-franchise called Persona.
    To put it another way, you could say that Mikoto is somewhere above Philemon the same way as, say, Joshua and co. from The World Ends With You are from a being superior to them, in terms of authority and dominion over various places and dimensions.
    Mikoto handicaps himself by becoming human, and so, he can die, but only in the sense of merely being "freed" from a material vessel, since he still continues to exist.
    Analyzing his character, he's basically also the father of hypnos, father of dreams. Remember that "gods" in greek and roman perception are just concepts and phenomenon of nature and universal existences, not actual people, so it means as much as "father of hypnos", or "father of dreams", which is represented as a butterfly, and also the father of souls beyond a physical reality.
    So, in conclusion, you could say that Mikoto is the ethereal realm that serves as a medium for countless Persona universes to exist, so he's the father of entire humanities and nations, which, in "the world beyond matter", "the world of wills, thoughts and emotions", he is regarded in highest esteem by angelic and human souls, to the point where devils fear him.
    Well, I don't know how accurate that may be, since it's only my thoughts on what his existence implies, but considering the heavy implications of messianic proportions, well, I don't think it's too farfetched to say he's not just anybody even beyond physical life.
    Always remember that when The Aeon had him in her laps, it was The Universe all along, and it was also The Aeon that introduced Death into The Universe, learning the value of life, both in astrological and human form.

I "accidentally" found out about this because I couldn't decide what name to go with on my playthroughs, so I simply mixed the names and, out of curiosity, searched for the meaning after the names being "fused" together, and that's more or less how I went about discovering this. After that, all I really did was piece two and two together and ended up making some more discoveries.

    makoto is a character that i can relate to in every adaption. it's not an easy feat for me to see so much of myself in a character no matter what. back in my early high school years, I had repressed a lot of my issues- and I had this whole "who cares? I'm not gonna live anyway" kind of attitude. I just stopped caring. but, as time went on and as people became more insistent to be my friend, I began to change into who I am now.
    the game had a huge emotional impact on me, and it really made me rethink how I value my connections. I nearly cried watching the ending and after ryoji was revealed to be death itself, something about the characters just feels so real. I played reload in a weird part of my life, where I was about to leave behind a town I've lived in since I was 9 (I'm 17), so everything about the game just felt.. so personal.
    overall, the game and makoto are very special to me

    At September last year, I started smoking more and more and having difficulty breathing, this led me to a self-destructive tought process of death and memories, I wanted to be forgotten since in my eyes... I really never did anything for anyone ever, nor do I deserve the recognition for it
    This tought process kept going up until early January when a friend pretty much slapped me back into my senses, telling me that we don't get to choose how we are remembered, as she described something mundane I said and that I had completely forgotten but for her those words were so inspiring that she remembered me for them
    Soon I stopped seeing death as something to strive for soon and just as an end to life, a cycle that must be completed.
    With this new outlook, I started reaching out to several friends and hanging out with them, talking about my feelings on death and how I want my funeral to not be somber but a celebration of my life
    Funnily enough, P3R came out on gamepass around this time too, and I always was meaning to play persona 3 anyways so I gave it a shot!
    It wasn't until a few weeks that I realized that death was chasing me all the time, but it wasn't until now that I stopped being oblivious to it and embraced it as something that has to happen one way or the other! One day, I will pass, this I know for sure... But this doesn't mean I won't fight or live my life as a coward, death can come with me and travel while I hold it's hand but, I will fight to live a long and plentiful life
    If I were to die right now, I only wish to die fast so my friends don't suffer my pain, I'm fine with dying, I know they will remember me and I'm glad for it

    35:28 Does he though? I like to think he remembers cause like he holds on long to the promised day with his friends., and in the game in the true end when Yukari calls Aigis out when she stares at the trio the game prefers her as her name and while in the bad end the game refers her as just “Girl”. And when Aigis knocks on his room, and she cried Makoto immediately comforted her.
    Besides i think it’s pretty sad if he forgets,considering how his health is slowly deteriorating and he doesn’t know why

    • @YandereGogeta
      @YandereGogeta  9 месяцев назад

      I really think he does forget because in both the movie and the manga he forgets, and then he and Aigis remember sooner than the others. In the game, it’s kind of vague on whether he forgot or not, but just going off the dialogue options I interpret it as him forgetting as well, until he sees Aigis on March 4th with Junpei and Yukari.

    6:56 I have completely original experience regarding this Makoto awakening. The first time I played Persona 3 (not the FEZ version), it was late at night, and I was half tired.
    So during that cutscene, I saw Orpheus came out and fight the Fool shadow. But then I fell asleep when Thanatos break free. I woke up when Thanatos revert to Orpheus again.
    So, I was never aware of Thanatos at all.
    Then when I played FEZ, I was completely shocked when I saw Thanatos already appear in this scene.

    I just need to say this. When i was in highschool i was extremely depressed at the start even if i have a loving family and genuine friends. I wasn’t happy i was wanting death. Then one friday night i decided to watch the first persona 3 movie. 3 days later i finally realized what my mom had been telling me for years, that i should live for myself and not to think on well the end and focus on the now ya know.
    Persona 3 is my favorite game and my favorite movies of all time. I love its themes, stories and characters. Makoto is my favorite protagonist for a reason, i can see a bit of myself inside him.

    As I trail my third play through I thought makoto was a heartless emo kid. But as journeys went on his emotions bloomed more. To being a favorite out of the 3/4/5 trio. What I see in makoto I see in myself willing to sacrifice whenever needed. Wanting to help others dispite my own issues. I’m grateful for life and dying when it comes my way will be with no regrets

    Honestly my favourite thing about Makoto's character has always been his relationship to death. To Pharos. To Ryoji. Because even from the very beginning after his parents' deaths, he never held any ill will towards death at all. He had death forced upon him, from Aigis and from the accident, and instead of raging against it, he accepted it as a part of life and deteriorated into apathy due to his fear of LIFE, not death. He never blamed Aigis and was afraid when Pharos left him. Ryoji was absolutely correct; Makoto is kind down to his very SOUL, choosing to love and forgive even death itself and the person who forced death upon him. Even during their final battle, he never showed any animosity towards Nyx. His journey was about growing to love life again, and he loved life so much that even death itself agreed, fought alongside him and gave him the key to the miracle to save everyone.
    I also just love this idea where at the beginning of the story, Makoto was forced to face death, and then by the end, he faces it willingly. Aigis forced death into him at the start, but then Makoto willingly walks into death as a sacrifice at the end. Thanatos forces itself out of Orpheus at the start, but then he and Orpheus willingly fuse together at the end. Pharos was in prison clothes and forced into Makoto's space, and Ryoji forced himself into Makoto's space but was accepted as his friend.

    Beating persona 3 fes several years ago literally saved me from myself. I always has struggled with myself as a person, always wanting to commit suicide because of how poor my mental was. i truly had no care for my own life or how me killling myself might affect those who cared for me. But persona 3 fes had truly changed my outlook on life and death itself and for those around me. Thinking back now i was selfish and am happy with my life now. Just finished persona 3 reload and it brought my love for persona 3 back to the front of my life. Stay strong people

    I lnow its a month late, but i just wanted to say that I ended up playing the FES version on PS2 during a very difficult time in my life. My mom had just passed away and i had recently found out that my biological dad killed himself when i was a few months old. So at that point i kinda had the same viewpoint as Makoto when i started playing. When i beat the Journey, i was balling my eyes out and soon learned to appreciate life as a whole and that dearh is not soming to be truly sad about.

    I don't really want to make a big comment or anything like that, but i've just finished reload, being my second playthrough and fes my first, i just have to say, this game helped me overcome my anxiety with death and taught a lot of lessons. Today is my favorite game of the franchise and maybe even more. But i digress, this game is really special in every type of thing you can think about, but I don't like the fans that want to take out the merit of the younger brothers of this one, they are great games too,and shoudn't get mad for a new Persona 5 spin off, I do think is time to leave the ip to rest, but this one would have received the same treatment if it where as popular in the time and probably will receive this treatment now with the ramake(people tend to forget P4 and it spin off fase). In the end, is my favorite one and hope to come back one day to play portable, and thanks for the great video

    This is a fantastic video. Im so glad persona 3 is getting a gorgeous remake! I'd like the answer added eventually, even as paid DLC, but thats another issue. I find Makotos backstory and the mythology surrounding his personas very interesting. I still think Ren from p5 may be my favorite of the 3 modern protagonists (ive never played portable, so idk bout the femc) but man its a tough choice. Makoto is very unique from his apathy to the sadness which results from his journeys completion. Really cool ark overall. I just enjoy the sarcasm you can put into Rens dialogue choices and everything a tiny bit more. However p3's story is hands down the best in my opinion.

    • @YandereGogeta
      @YandereGogeta  10 месяцев назад +2

      Thank you for the kind words! I have faith they will add the answer as DLC. Call it my 6th sense if you will haha. I think Ren is a really good protagonist as well. He seems to get overhated a lot, but I think that's more a Persona 5 thing in general to be honest.

    Seriously I love Makoto and some of the relationships he develops over time is just amazing. The analysis did make me realize the reason why I love another character though. Roxas from Kingdom Hearts, it's kind of interesting how many things they have in common. From both starting off as essentially "Blank slates" to fully developed and amazing people, it makes their endings hit so much harder.
    Side note - I haven't played the game but I'm curious about the difference and similarities between Makoto and Kotone? Especially since in Kotone version some of tradegies that happen can be prevented. Does that take away from her story or No?

    • @YandereGogeta
      @YandereGogeta  9 месяцев назад +1

      I've been really interested in Kingdom Hearts I've just never had a good chance to delve into that world. I barely got past the first area in the first game and got to Squall in Traverse Town I believe it was, but I never got to continue. I would love to go back now that you've made that comparison!
      In my opinion I really don't think certain plot points take away from Kotone's route. Even though a certain person in particular can be saved and some things are a bit different, it doesn't change the overall point and impact in my opinion considering the fate of that said person I mentioned regardless.

    • @LoreMiuthos
      @LoreMiuthos 9 месяцев назад

      I'm glad you think that way with Kotone! Sometime it feels like she gets forgotten, so I guess I'm glad she seems to have a positive light in you mind?
      (P.S if you want to know Roxas's story you'll have to play Kingdom Hearts 365/2 Days, it takes place after Kingdom Hearts 1 but before Kingdom Hearts 2. Head's up the game itself feels slow, but that is part of the point, you are essentially "living" these days with Roxas. So if you do decide to play KH, the first game is probably the "simplest" one concept/theme wise, but KH had STORY and LORE. You'll want to read everything, and I do mean everything. Since a lot of that stuff are in notes that you pick up/gain along the way.
      ........Sorry for the Kingdom Hearts rant.)

    I recently finished the game after hyping it up for myself by listening to all the battle tracks, i went in blind not knowing ANYTHING about persona 3, so i started with reload, and all i can say is that this is the second game i have actually shed a tear to (first one being LISA: the painful), i can positively say this game did change my life, as corny as it sounds i relate a lot to Makoto, while i may have not gone through the pain he did i could still relate to him, especially after binging the movies (which i did the day after i beat the game), there is simply no other words to describe persona 3 as a whole other than perfect, i couldnt find any faults at all.
    The characters, music, links, gameplay, hell even the MENUS, so much went into this game and im glad i gave it a chance and had the opportunity to go at it blind.
    TLDR: Yes this game absolutely changed my life and it made a change in me, i cannot wait for the answer dlc

    Played FES for the first time. And as soon as I heard that piano at the end, I cried and couldn't stop for a good bit. Because, like Makoto/Minato, I lost friends due to moving, and I lost family to death. And for a good couple of years, I didn't care about living or dying, and distanced myself from others.

    His mortal body being dead, and Elizabeth showing that she is still trying to save him, I would like makoto to come back and save either become a velvet room attendant or replace Igor himself letting the old man finally retire from being in the velvet room
    He won’t be back as the hero but he can at least help the next and seeing as the next game would be persona 6 I feel it would be fitting for the persona 3 mc to help the mc of the game 3 games after his

    It frustrates me to see a lot of people say that the P3MC is just cardboard. He clearly has a personality that's outlined by his choices. He can choose to be kind, enabling, or outright apathetic and mean. That is how it is for all the Persona MCs so the claim they're blank slates is categorially false. It's more like you as a player are making the choice of whether they choose to be kinder or give into intrusive thoughts.
    And that's especially true of P3 where some of his dialog choices are outright heartless like him telling Maiko it's her fault for her parents getting divorced.
    Also, there's how he affects the other characters. Elizabeth leaves the Velvet Room and is still the first and only attendant to do so. On top of that she inherits Thanatos. Then you have Aigis who is a robot who is so profoundly changed by the MC that her arcana changes to the Fool arcana and she inherits the power of the Wild Card. And to this day she is the only character to have done that.
