It is pretty hilarious to stand in front of the toughest bosses and be completely fine no matter what. I was super impressed with the power of blue sand armor maxed out!
A couple suggestions: you are actually at 110% resistance with the potion. If you're going to need the elemental resist potion anyway, you could exchange Master of Motion for Perfect Strike, giving up only 10% impact and physical resistance in exchange for a high damage attack. Also Flamethrower should be on your bar in place of the kick! If you're using the lantern as the central element of your build, you might as well profit from its supporting move. This would also pair well with a pre-placed runic mine which you can run them over after they've been inflicted with haunted by your flamethrower. Brand was the right choice. The skycrown mace does not have a damaging weapon skill to add to your bar. If you took Perfect Strike, though, it might have been better. Brand is effectively 50 damage per hit after its effects are applies, whereas skycrown is 47, but skycrown is faster and may have higher dps. If you replace puncture with perfect strike then you will deal more damage per hit with skycrown, even without applying chill, as well as hitting faster and having higher impact. But without perfect strike, Brand is better. It does equivalent damage once its debuffs are applied, and the benefit of impact is that it stops enemy attacks, which you hardly need to do when you're nigh unkillable.
Dang I completely forgot about flamethrower. That would be so good paired with an ethereal varnish. On brand you would make the enemy weak to physical, ethereal, and frost. That would completely destroy. Especially since both frost and ethereal are the least resisted against in the game. Brand is honestly a little too good if you use it properly lol.
@xodroid9853 I'm thinking hex instead. This tanking and you get your burnt stats back. You might not need to carry any food or teas. A couple potions and all the rest of that space for LOOT!!
3 months late I know but another use for the Lantern of Souls here is the infinite durability for Flamethrower, which inflicts Eth damage + Haunted, which means you literally only need the Runic Sword to make decent damage. Just my take on it but I’d probably rock a one handed axe instead. Axe special attack has a 1.3x multiplier, so you’re getting bigger base damage on top of better multipliers than pain. Axe also comes with a skill that inflicts pain, so you’re getting a 1.55 multiplier instead of only 1.25 from pain and chill. Axe also just hit more. Chimera pistol could be nice to start a fight with for elemental vulnerability, but you’re already juggling 2 off hands.
The fact that you are basically immune to so much damage really leaves a lot open. I chose brand because it fit the theme and has a nice damage without doing much. But axes are always pretty great. In fact you could go with a kazite axe. This inflicts weaken making you completely immune. I don't think any enemy would be able to do enough damage with 40% less in their physical attacks.

Very interesting build but you don't really need the lantern. You can buff your elemental resistances enough without it. I'll suggest focusing a little bit more on health regen (luxe lichette, caligrey bone cage, special water, ecc...) and be happy with 80% protection.
Very true. I just really wanted to finally use the lantern lol. Its such a cool idea for an item. To bad you offhand has much better options. Heck a two handed weapon is so good as well.
So.... I made 2 builds with alternative armor pieces and skill trees. First - fighter. Green copal armor, Crimson boots and candle helmet. Soul lantern and Brand. Instead of Rune sage, I took Philosopher, which provides manaregen and fire affinity. Took holy mission for its super strong passives including Purifier. This build doesn't use runic protection. Has 70 physical and 95 decay resistances and immune to the rest of things. Second - mage. In this build I swap candle helmet for gold lich mask, took Rune sage instead of Philosopher. And throw away lantern, keeping light mender lexicon. Instead of brand took jade scimitar or mace. Everything else is same as Fighter build. It gives me 84 physical and 95 decay resistance with immunity to the rest and huge reduction to mana cost. And in both builds you don't have to swap your offhand, lol
First one is excellent. Mostly because I love Philosopher. All of my builds that are just for me to have fun include it. The mana regen is so good and fire affinity really alleviates some of the pain of dealing with burning. Honestly I think rune sage has one of the best skills for being a tank. Runic protection offers a lot of stats. More than I originally thought it did. Just buffs your character out of this world if you set it up right.
@SheenShots with runic protection I don't like just that buff is running just for 3 minutes, wile the rest of things 5 minutes. Light mender lexicon enchantment should provide small mana regen. Actually, I think mace can be way better then scimitar. Because if you use lightning or fire varnish on it, and then smash ground with weapon master skill - you ll debuff all enemies, around (and being tanky, we love enemies to suround us, so we can spam aoe skills) lighting and fire are main source of dmg for mage build.
@SheenShots Also, armors I choose, have descent durability. As you may notice, I really don't wanna swap offhand, lol It's since I used build with Canon pistol with shatter shot and then opportunity strike with dagger.... sometimes in action, my character wasn't responding to change weapon command :(
You should try this build, wolf medic armor, either antique plate helm or Virgin helm for fashion with economy, antique plate boots with economy, either dreamer halburge or iron halburge with unsuspecting strength enchant, skill trees are hunter with slam attack, the hex mage built for pure hex, and the third skill tree is mercenary for the passives, storyline is sorroborian storyline
I was thinking this Build for a While but I never Imagined it would be this Tanky. I don't need to test it now I know it's Tanky now. If Someone out there wants they could go for Dusk Backpack for Extra Defense.
i personally would have gone with the Marble Mace/Weightless + Infuse Wind to break the Impact bar from enemies and bosses together with Confusion debuff and Rage boon, if needed some sweep kicks thrown into the mix, it may not be as "high" of a damage as Brand but it would give additional CC for not only myself but also Co-op partners i wanna tank for.
Honestly that would be an incredible way to go for a coop build. You really would lack damage when it comes to harder enemies, but it would support for a coop partner so well. Dropping things instantly and being unable to take damage. Actually that is my favorite mace. It packs a punch and is long enough to hit enemies even after you stagger them.
I prefer the Squire set for my immortal build with the infuse blood skill. It is ridiculous. Infinite stamina, and I can use something else in off hand when I dont need the lantern, while still having really high defenses. Was one of the first builds I made when DE launched, to farm bosses easily.
It seems to me that if you wanted to be truly near invincible, you should use a vampiric weapon with this build. Granted, that might be overkill and gimp your damage a bit too much, but with how little damage you take, being able to absorb enemy health would make you virtually unkillable in every single fight.
Hi Sheen, a pleasure to greet you. Nice build, thank you :). ¿Could you tell me if Whiplash is the best enchantment for the sword, without entering the enchantments of Nueva Sirocco?
Hey Sheen, I've done everything in this guide, i think. But my Dmg Reductions only goes up to 60. I have the three skill trees i have the blue armor i have all the boons, the only thing i don't have is the lantern but im gonna do the quest for it i just wanted the build set up first. I'm still missing 40 damage reduction. What did i do wrong?
Full armor set = 20 defense Runic protection = 10 defense Cabal Hermit + boons = 30 defense Master of Motion = 10 defense Lantern of Souls = 10 defense Now you are at 80 resistance in everything with 90 in ethereal. Take an elemental resistance potion for 20 elemental defense. Granting 100 in every element. It has been a bit since I made the build but this seems accurate from my memory. Without pots and the lantern your missing 10 from something it seems. Try and double check your passives and see if that helps.
Zhorns hunting backpack is always great for running around in. However, the brass wolf backpack would offer more protection making it a great option as well.
I made a build out of vampiric dagger vampiric sword Slayer set Puncture Brace Backstab Opportunist Stab Infuse blood Elemental discharge Probe And sweep kick Blue chamber faction Skill tree: Hex mage Speedster And kazite spellblade and it is my favourite build so far what do you think master sheen?
Really good actually. You are going to be healing very quickly when you take damage due to the damage bonus on your armor. And blood infuse deals great damage to enemies.
Oh my Im literally making this build right now in my current playthrough with a few differences like the main weapon and backpack for example - Im thinking of using horror long sword for now and make the rainbowhexed sabre for debuffs later. I will still make the brand though cause it will come in handy for Caldera /Frost damage wink wink/
I know this video is 7 months old but would you recommend this for a first playthrough? Also before acquiring the lantern and brand whicj weapon combo should we use?
Ya this could be very fun for a first playthrough. Just make sure to look up the lantern of souls quest as its easy to miss your first time around. Before brand your best bet is horror sword and any shield you can get. Horror weapons are not too hard to get early on and are the best until your get a unique item.
Sooo... lantern can be transfered, so your character can go with Holly mission, taking all pasives from there) But...then... as blue chamber members, you can blood infuse. Which.... makes you weaken enemy's dmg and heal in battle 😁
Both pretty great options. Blood infuse would make you completely immortal here. I left it out because Calder... but totally should have used it for a bit.
@@SheenShots actually, the 20 decay resist from HM let you swap out the chest. For example into a Candle plate chest. This is the last bit needed to push physical above 100 with a gaberry wine. 20- runic prot. 10- master of Motion 28 - Candle plate 14 - helmet 14 - boots 15- gaberry wine => total of 101 physical armour. With the blue sand chest you sit at 93.
Hi, Sheen, proposal for an outward build Idea! How about for your next build try to see if you can make a 100% skill cooldown reduction build, that be sweet
We gonna do this build now! Question... You mention not needing Definitive to create this build. However, Don't you need one of the DLCs in order to enchant the sword? Thanks for the build dude!
Glad you enjoyed it and good luck putting it together! You do need the Soroboreans DLC to enchant the armor which helps you stand up against physical damage much better. However I never enchanted the weapon for this video. Yes you need the DLC's to do that, but as you can see from the footage it is not necessary. Brand is insanely good all on its own.
Ya you could absolutely choose something else if you legacy chest the lantern. I personally would recommend holy mission for even more physical defense.
@@SheenShots thanks, mate. :) Was just comparing the faction-specific rewards you get and holy mission sounds about right for a legacy-chested character.
You will be fine trying this build first time around. It takes a while to put together, but doesn't need legacy or anything. Plus it makes you more tanky than most builds. So I think you will like it.
I'm trying now to make simular build, but trying to combine items from different sets to increase efficiency. So far I stoped on green copal boots, tenebrious armor and priest hood. Those items give a bit less of physical protection, but doesn't seems to be a big deal. Especially as they don't have penalties but instead buff your mana, stamina and speed. I really want that build to go in Holly mission, for tanky passives and 20% resist to decay. I'm wondering if I can take philosopher skill line with fire aphinity instead of... monk for example.
Holy mission is definitely a must for defense. I think philosopher is pretty great actually because that extra fire resistance is nuts. As long as you find a way around the ten resistance you lose from warrior monk its not a bid deal anyway. Excited to see copal boots in their. They are pretty darn great and don't get used enough.
@SheenShots cold resistance is hardest to get it seems, without getting disadvantages. With choice of philosopher, you gain mana regen and can go full mage. I figured jade scimitar to be a perfect "cosmetic" weapon for this character build.
Thought: Drop Warrior Monk for Hex Mage (Bloodlust QOL), use the Rainbow Hex steel sabre (or to fit on theme, the CERULEAN sabre) with possibly Wind Infuse to apply hexes fast, and use Torment after the hexes are up for DOT/further damage reduction should the potion buff fall off. Could even include Pain/Confusion with the classic Shatter Bullet Cannon Pistol as the opener.
That’s a lot of stamina to drop for a heavy armor wearing build that uses magic. Plus the helmet increases mana cost for a build that is going to use offensive magic and not just buffs.
Playing a lantern build and not using flamethrower makes me sad. The ethereal variant just deals so little damage. Guess you have to stick to fire or somehow use the hex effects to your advantage to make a flamethrower build.
I didn't think of this for some reason, but you can replace one of the skills hotbared for the flamethrower. It just didn't register with me at the time because the defense was so nuts.
Not gonna lie, the npc your fighting at 2:45 is the build I actually want. Why do games leave out duel wielding:( Or the axe trainer duel wielding 2 handed weapons.
This is such a Cheap and Easy to Build set that I decided to Delete it. It didn't even take a Day to finish it all that's how cheap it is for such an Absurd Set. I'm sticking with good Old Brand and Adventurer armor.
it really is. Most players can get it within the first hour of making a new character if they prioritize. Adventurer armor is great as well since it has a good enchantment and brand is S tier.
@Sheenshots I’m working on a sword and shield character and The more I look at at kazite spellblade the less I feel I should use it. Right now I’m thinking Cabal hermit, mercenary, and warrior monk or rune sage and going runic prefix just for the heal and defense. Even thought about hex mage as well 🤦🏾♂️. Rune sage n really leaning towards tho. Tough to only go for potions for healing but we will see
Cabal Hermit, Mercenary, Rune Sage. Go full shield and use that runic prefix passive in rune sage. You will need to switch off to get the buff, but that's all you want it for anyway. Destroy with shield and come use runic heal when combat is over. I have done something similar and its really fun.
HAHA! This faction also comes with blood infuse if you build up Caldera. With that, you will literally be unkillable in this build.

Very true. I just really wanted to finally use the lantern lol. Its such a cool idea for an item. To bad you offhand has much better options. Heck a two handed weapon is so good as well.
Nice build, i want to see a gauntlet build too :)
Working on one right now actually! Should be a pretty good one as well.
Dude. DUDE! Yeah. Doing this.
Oh and you can get blood infuse as well... which makes you immortal! Hope you enjoy it!
@SheenShots
Also, armors I choose, have descent durability.
As you may notice, I really don't wanna swap offhand, lol
It's since I used build with Canon pistol with shatter shot and then opportunity strike with dagger.... sometimes in action, my character wasn't responding to change weapon command :(
You should try this build, wolf medic armor, either antique plate helm or Virgin helm for fashion with economy, antique plate boots with economy, either dreamer halburge or iron halburge with unsuspecting strength enchant, skill trees are hunter with slam attack, the hex mage built for pure hex, and the third skill tree is mercenary for the passives, storyline is sorroborian storyline
I will look into this. Looks like a very interesting combinations of skill trees. Thanks for the suggestion.
I was thinking this Build for a While but I never Imagined it would be this Tanky.
I don't need to test it now I know it's Tanky now.
If Someone out there wants they could go for Dusk Backpack for Extra Defense.
Dusk backpack is pretty nice. Love the look of it as well.
i personally would have gone with the Marble Mace/Weightless + Infuse Wind to break the Impact bar from enemies and bosses together with Confusion debuff and Rage boon, if needed some sweep kicks thrown into the mix, it may not be as "high" of a damage as Brand but it would give additional CC for not only myself but also Co-op partners i wanna tank for.
Ah squire set. I have never used it in any of my builds even though I love the stats. Might be time to revisit it a bit and get creative.
Being a blue ranger for the blue collective makes me feel like being a ranger for the NCR. And NCR rangers are honestly just as busted as this build.
Nice!, Im doing this without the lantern and a 2 handend greatmace
It seems to me that if you wanted to be truly near invincible, you should use a vampiric weapon with this build. Granted, that might be overkill and gimp your damage a bit too much, but with how little damage you take, being able to absorb enemy health would make you virtually unkillable in every single fight.
You could definitely get some good use out of a vampiric weapon. The small amount of health you lose would be pretty easy to get back that way.
Hi Sheen, a pleasure to greet you.
Nice build, thank you :).
¿Could you tell me if Whiplash is the best enchantment for the sword, without entering the enchantments of Nueva Sirocco?
Yes, whiplash or poltergeist. I typically run whiplash as weapons like this doesn't get a huge bump from poltergeist.
"we only have 2 ATK skills"
No sweep kick? Bad build wow
Jk this seems like a hilarious fun tanky build, cheers bro! Thanks for the vid
Lol sweep kick is S tier I must admit. Thanks for watching!
Does this build work in caldera where most mobs half your resistances?
nice build always wanted to play with lantern offhand, seemed good but felt that didnt make up for the spot
Same here. I never found a way to make it fit in a build without something else being better. Finally got this to work here.
What did i do wrong?
also am missing Elemental pots but thats only 10 so im technically missing 30 or 20 defense
Full armor set = 20 defense
Runic protection = 10 defense
Cabal Hermit + boons = 30 defense
Master of Motion = 10 defense
Lantern of Souls = 10 defense
Now you are at 80 resistance in everything with 90 in ethereal. Take an elemental resistance potion for 20 elemental defense.
Granting 100 in every element.
It has been a bit since I made the build but this seems accurate from my memory. Without pots and the lantern your missing 10 from something it seems. Try and double check your passives and see if that helps.
Hey sheen what backpack would u recommend for those without the dlc? No caldera for this guy yet :(
Zhorns hunting backpack is always great for running around in. However, the brass wolf backpack would offer more protection making it a great option as well.
Thanks man I'll give it a shot
I made a build out of
vampiric dagger
vampiric sword
Slayer set
Puncture
Brace
Backstab
Opportunist Stab
Infuse blood
Elemental discharge
Probe
And sweep kick
Blue chamber faction
Skill tree:
Hex mage
Speedster
And kazite spellblade
and it is my favourite build so far
what do you think master sheen?
Really good actually. You are going to be healing very quickly when you take damage due to the damage bonus on your armor. And blood infuse deals great damage to enemies.
Oh my Im literally making this build right now in my current playthrough with a few differences like the main weapon and backpack for example - Im thinking of using horror long sword for now and make the rainbowhexed sabre for debuffs later. I will still make the brand though cause it will come in handy for Caldera /Frost damage wink wink/
You will have a great time I can assure you. The defense is incredible and makes it feel like a very different game.
"A good defense is a good offense amirite?"
Ya know it!
Sooo... lantern can be transfered, so your character can go with Holly mission, taking all pasives from there)
But...then... as blue chamber members, you can blood infuse. Which.... makes you weaken enemy's dmg and heal in battle 😁
Both pretty great options. Blood infuse would make you completely immortal here. I left it out because Calder... but totally should have used it for a bit.
Arcane set, especially white arcane set, can be used here too...
Except they aren't as good against physical dmg
@@SheenShots actually, the 20 decay resist from HM let you swap out the chest. For example into a Candle plate chest.
This is the last bit needed to push physical above 100 with a gaberry wine.
20- runic prot.
10- master of Motion
28 - Candle plate
14 - helmet
14 - boots
15- gaberry wine
=> total of 101 physical armour.
With the blue sand chest you sit at 93.
Hi, Sheen, proposal for an outward build Idea! How about for your next build try to see if you can make a 100% skill cooldown reduction build, that be sweet
I will look into it! Thank you for the suggestion!
If I legacy chest the lantern of souls, can I pick another faction for better skills? What would you recommend?
Ya you could absolutely choose something else if you legacy chest the lantern. I personally would recommend holy mission for even more physical defense.
@@SheenShots thanks, mate. :)
Was just comparing the faction-specific rewards you get and holy mission sounds about right for a legacy-chested character.
Given that you are blue chamber including the infuse blood to the build would be the way to go xD
Ya I really should have mentioned that, but it would make you completely unkillable!
@@SheenShots Yeah, and we don't want that.
Just started playing a few days ago. I think ill try this build. Or do you guys think it would be too difficult for a first time RPG player to try?
You will be fine trying this build first time around. It takes a while to put together, but doesn't need legacy or anything. Plus it makes you more tanky than most builds. So I think you will like it.
@SheenShots,
Where can i find your backpack from this video???
PLEASE. 🙏
This should help you out! ruclips.net/video/yCsSnPQHdzo/видео.html
@@SheenShots Thanks. 🙂👍
Good video.
Thanks!
Have you tried out the 100% cooldown build where you can spam your abilities unlimited times?
I have not, but really need to. Maybe that will be my next project. I have seen a few different versions in action its its quite cool.
What enchantment would you put on brand?
Whiplash or Poltergiest. Probably go with Whiplash though.
I didn't see how much mana I needed and what to sacrifice to get it
Playing a lantern build and not using flamethrower makes me sad.
Go go power rangers !!!
Its morphin time!
Not gonna lie, the npc your fighting at 2:45 is the build I actually want. Why do games leave out duel wielding:( Or the axe trainer duel wielding 2 handed weapons.
Dual energy swords from halo. I would love to have them myself. It really would have been cool to see dual wielding in Outward I agree.
Can you make a build focused around runes as the main skill tree
I have and idea for one so ya maybe I can get one out soon!
On the skills I assume the ones you crossed red are the ones you do not pick up but get all the others
Yes red cross means do not grab.
can I use a greataxe with this build?
Problem is this build gains great benefit from the lantern. Take that off and you lose a lot of defense. But technically yes you can.
Haha ! Great ! !
I have done something similar and its really fun.
...aye wait a min I did this very recently haha
Nice! I was surprised at how good it turned out to be.
machete works too btdubs
3 to 120 i got ir
Is this build still viable currently? Just bought Outward, sadly missed the Christmas sale heh… 🥲
Yes it is very much still viable.
