Beatrix think of two people of different genders you’re attracted to. Is the way you feel about them different for each one? (Not necessarily more or less but just the general feeling) but it’s also pretty hard to pinpoint since everyone experiences attraction differently
I dont understand why people feel the need to invalidate pansexuals. Like, does our existence bother you that much? There is a difference between bisexuals and pansexual, even if it may seem small or insignificant. I read a reply using an example of a square and a quadrilateral, and that analogy can give you a basic understanding of it. When you label yourself you want the label to be exact. You don't wnat to be labeled as something you arent.

Yeah, though. I don't get their arguments either. In the end, it all just boils down to pansexuality being a slightly more specific category of bissexuality(bissexual is an umbrella term). All pans are bi and not all bis are pan. Of course thats just my opinion, I'm pan

@Leah Marie pansexuality does indeed fall under the bi umbrella. Doesn't make it any less valid though.
@Leah Marie you can choose to identify however you like. If a label resonates with you better than other label, then good for you, that's perfectly fine. I just think that bisexuality and pansexuality share the same definition, and that makes pansexual people fall under the bi umbrella, like biromantic, panromantic and queer people attracted to multiple genders do.
Also, being bi a much more politically charged and widely known term than the others, I count all the people who fall under the bi umbrella as bi even if they don't actively identify that way when talking about sociopolitical issues and not about individual identities. I don't think that is pan erasure, just political pragmatism. But in any other context I wouldn't call any pansexual person who doesn't identify as bi (a lot of us identify with both terms) bi and I'd respect the way they want to be called.
It is a pointless and invalid word when bisexuals have been the most accepting of all genders in their personal relationships.

I think people should be able to use whatever terminology they want to feel most comfortable with themselves, and I know that bisexuality is a term that seems politically charged and has stigma attached to it, so its really fine to use one of these terms over the other just because it is what you prefer. but the argument that pansexuality is more accepting or a more "woke" term for your sexuality is biphobic and generally transphobic too

Bi is the attraction to more than one gender. Whether it's female and male or male and non binary or whatever, it's more than one BUT just because they're attracted to both, doesn't mean they're attracted equally to both. Pansexuals is the attraction to all genders because the gender doesn't matter. (Not to be confused with Omnisexual because that is the attraction to all genders but the gender does matter) pansexuals are gender blind (I believe that's the term?) They look at the person not the gender because regardless they're attracted BUT that doesn't mean they don't have standards. They still need to be attracted. Just because they're attracted to all the genders doesn't mean they're attracted to all people.

I know all I need to know about Pansexual and I have a much simpler definition for it. A Pansexual is someone who is bisexual but wants to seem more special than what they are/wants attention.

Well pansexuality is attraction to people regardless of their gender identity, while bisexuality is attraction to your own gender and one or more others. I guess using those definitions, bisexuality can be more intentional and limited. Historically though, bisexuality has been used by both bi people and the mainstream in a way that erases trans, nonbinary, and even gender non-conforming people, which is why some people see it as outdated.

Well bi can also mean attraction to only 2 genders while pan can't really and bi people in many cases have a difference in the way they like people of different genders. In my personal opinion everyone should use the word they feel most comfortable with. Some people feel like both words fit them since they do overlap a lot.
Also it's not a bad thing to have more words for similar things, just look at how we have so many different words for laughing for example.

Liking someone based on their personality is called a preference, not a sexuality. To me, this just seems like a ploy to be seen as “unique” and “special”.

But having had a conversation with my wife she thinks I'm Pansexual, because I don't look at the gender of the person I look at the personality, I don't care what genitals a person has.
