Audi MMI 3G Plus Update | Firmware | Maps Activation

- This update was a challenge for me because it was not as simple as it was with the MMI 3G. I will have to tell you from the beginning that this update will take place in about two or three hours.
As you will see, at first I did the Firmware update because there were no updates made from 2013 in my friend's Audi A4 S line.
This first update has to be done with the motor ON because there is a risk when doing this just with ignition on. The biggest danger is that your battery will drain and the system will automatically turn off (MMI, lights and everything that uses the car's battery) and there is a big chance you destroy your MMI.
The Firmware update takes about 30 minutes and in this time you can drive your car but without tunrning the motor OFF!
After firmware we have to update the Maps with the latest version. We did this update in a place where I know that in the last 2- 3 years appeared new streets is town.
The Maps Update is taking longer so I recomend taking a laptop and watching a movie or some beers. You will have to wait about two hours (there are 32 GB informations) with this update but it worth! You will have all the Europe and all the POI (points of interest) you need.
After you update maps, it is very important the last step: Maps Activator. Without this, your MMI will work for o while and than you will get the message in MMI: "The Naviogation Data is Blocked!" and you will not be able to use the navigation.

Servus! Hast du es mal gehabt das dass Navi keine Ansagen mehr macht ? Ansagen sind im Menu angeschaltet und Lautstärke ist nicht gemuted. Bestimmt schon mehrmals FW und Maps neu installiert leider ohne Erfolg.

Das Kartenupdate habe ich auf Benutzerdefiniert gemacht, einmal kam ein Fehler wo ich auf erneut versuchen gegangen bin, ist dann aber so durchgelaufen 👍
Does the activation disk only work once? I updated firmware installed maps then did activation but for some reason not worked properly, i get initialising maps but locks at 44% so went again, but now at the end of installing maps the activation disk is not recognised, any help appreciated
I think you need the right activator. Try on a local Audi forum in your area.

Salut! După ce instalez activatorul și îndepărtez cardul, nu trebuie introdus din nou cardul cu hărțile, și sa rămână tot timpul în SD 1?Am reușit sa fac update de firmware.
Dacă mai țin bine minte, hărțile se instalează pe hard-disk, nu mai ai treabă cu SD-urile. Cum ai reușit sa faci update la firmware?

I followed it all and it works except it wont update my maps... im thinking it doesnt like the file and it may be corrupted. i have heard you can do it manually , and i have enabled it in green screen but there are so any options after that im thinking i wont touch it.
I have "bose". Is the procedure any different? I understand that it is risky if I "bose" in the car

I don't know because it was my friend's car and I didn't pay attention to that. Maybe in the MMI menu is something. Or it was just the outside temperature
It’s the temperature u‘ve set up on air condition, not the internal.

If you only have mmi 2 or 3 basic it will cost you mega amounts of money updating to this version as the hardware has to be replaced.

Hi! It depends. If you have the latest firmware, you can simply update just the maps, every year. If you don't have the right firmware, your MMI will be blocked.

Before you start MMI 3GP firmware update have you select “Define User” in hidden Green Menu?
No, I didn't do that. All the steps are in the video. This guy has not even green menu activated

Salut ,am si eu un a4 b8 2008 mm2 si nu imi mai afiseaza clima .
Merge tot cald rece ,doar ca nu o mai afiseaza ,nu vad temperatura ,oare ce o avea ?
Ai făcut vreun update in ultima perioada la maisna? Daca da, posibil să fi afectat si akte opțiuni in mmi (informațiile despre baterie, limita de viteza, etc)
@@CiprianChicano am facut dpf off si am fost sa anuleze si din soft ,dar a zis ca a umblat doar la fila pentru dpf .crezi ca se poate face update la soft ,adica sa fie asta problema ?

Ja, muss laufen. Kannst du auch fahren das Auto für etwa 2 Stunden.

Salut! Am mai răspuns pe aici, nu e greu deloc. Intri pe forumul Audi din România si cauți pe Benone. El te ajuta cap-coadă. Are softuri la zi pentru toate modelele de mmi. Găsesc si link-ul imediat. Eventual, spui si de unde ai obținut informația si poate primești un discount :)

For firmware engine one, map update 2 hours ignition?... why not use a battery stabilisator🤷♂️
You don’t need Ignition for this
@@Briesmihow does update start then without mib2 on..mib2 dont go on without igntion or engine on? Without ign normal mib2 wil go off after 10 min, can sleep..
@@anthonyg87 It’s MMI 3G in the Video. And it won’t go to sleep while updating. I think MIB2 is the same.
@@Briesmi i work a lot with mib2 units(vw/skoda/seat) they al go off after 10min due to can sleep. Otherwise it would drain battery if it stays stand-by. For mmi3g i expect the same.
@@anthonyg87 , no. 1st: you can expand the power off in Green Menu up to 30 Minutes. 2nd: It only powers off if you don’t use it. While updating its in use and won’t power off. Believe it or not, it’s a fact.
