I made it with the template and it doesn't have a donut shape. It's more spherical than what's in the video. It looks great and was fun to make, so thank you. How can I make another one that is more like a donut?

On your webpage for this model you reference the paper by Monterde and Monera. Since you posted this video, María García Monera has posted one of her own. In it, she demonstrates a method that looks like it might make it easier to interweave the 2 ends once you have assembled the units. She reserves 2 units of the type with the slots going inward and adds these after you've linked the ends together. I have yet to assemble one, so I'm not certain it will be easier, but it looks like it should be. Here's a link:
