      Hey good day, I am a certified pest control applicator with 8years of experience, sometimes I do Rodent proofing just like this one I can surely say your installation is impressive and it would surely work however here are some pro tips. Use dry wall screws to install the hardware cloth unto the foundation board for a stronger more lasting hold because if any weight should be added to the soil on top of the metal cloth it would easy pull and break the staples loose from the foundation board, also try using useing metal pegs to secure the base of the metal mess resting in the soil so the digging Rodent won't easily push away the metal cloth as he is digging and pushing forward.❤ good job on the the escaped route 👏 👍 it is a grade A installation, but with those tips it would be a A+

    Thank you so very much! We paid somebody to follow what you instructed in vid. It worked. Our resident groundhog had babies, raised babies under my shed for more than 10 yrs. but then a skunk 🦨 went in there . The groundhog always eat most of the veg I love . So it was time to close that no-rental property. Thank you for sharing! Great vid and very helpful.🪴

    I live in an area that has a lot of common ground plus a lake behind my home. I have been in my house for 15 years. I always get skunks and possums under my deck. Every year I have to pay $250 to have them removed. I ran across your RUclips video and thought I would give it a try. Low and behold it was like Christmas... I am so thankful. Although. The real test will come this winter.. but with that being said I just trapped a skunk about two weeks before I had this done... Cudos to you... So far ... I'm pleased and thankful...

    • @wildcatDIY
      @wildcatDIY  3 года назад +1

      Hi Brian, I did not have to tie it together at the corners because that is where my cinder block foundation was, so I essentially went and overlapped the wire with the blocks, and then buried them down into the ground. There technically is a slight gap at the corners (where the wire does not meet each side of the rectangle shaped shed, but no animal could get in because it is still just block, wire, or gravel. No air gaps for them to get into.

    Thanks for the video! I bought some mesh and will be attempting something similar this weekend. I had a squirrel chew through the top of our shed door (I may have trapped him in when I blocked the hole with a rock on Tuesday and he chewed his way out...ugh). Any ideas on how to repair the top of a wood shed door? Should I just repair it using the mesh?
    We are just about ready to get a plastic shed ....there are lots of holes on the floor on the inside from last summer (I thought I fixed it until checking the shed earlier in the week). I may try to get some metal flashing since the holes are where the floor and wall meet, but I don't actually know what to do or who to ask.

    Would you be able to tell me, how long a skunk smell would last if a skunk sprayed by our home or under our deck?
    We have camera's set up to see if there is a skunk and we have seen nothing in 3 days. I threw some loose dirt on top of a ground hog hole that is by our deck and there has been no movement, it was loose dirt to see if it gets moved.
    I'm trying to figure why the house still smells like a skunk, it's been a week snice we started smelling skunk smell. I don't know if it sprayed by the house or the ground hog. But there has been no movement in 3 days since we set up the cameras up; the cameras do not give off light.

    I just bought my first house and it has 2 sheds and a gazebo. I have seen woodchucks go under the gazebo and something chewed a hole in the side of my shed. I dont know how that even possible but there is a big pile of dirt by it. got the house at a good price but yeah... this is what i need to do before winter comes. dont want these bastards living under my deck or sheds . i guess im gonna try fox urine granules to drive them away before i start putting up the barrier

      One may even consider some of the pellet guns up to .22 caliber that have suppression. They could be used for rabbit hunting even. They could still be heard but they’re not that loud. Just a thought.

      Jorge Malagon Hi. Very tough to estimate since I don’t do this professionally as a job. But it was about $100 in supplies and took me four hours or so. So probably $300 or so I might guess.

    • @wildcatDIY

      Nope. Gravel hurts their paws so they give up. And then the wire mesh is like a fence. Almost impossible for critters to get in 😀

      We had a groundhog dig under a house slab. We found out because there was a pile of gravel against the house, and a big hole. So yes they can dig through gravel. Our shed guy told us to dig an 8" trench all around like in the end of this video.

      unhwildcat333, Maybe where you’re from but here in Knoxville, Tennessee the woods rats tunnel under wire mesh and come in and eat the plywood flooring in about a four from the outer edge of the siding! Even with my German Shepherd outside some of them get in the shed. My Shepherd digs massive holes to access their tunnels. That’s how I know what they do. We constantly find rat carcasses in the yard where she’s snapped their backs or necks. When I go inside of the shed I carry my 22 LR Sig Sauer loaded with rat shot. I’ve shot over a dozen trying to get out of the holes.
