- In this quick video, I'm back at the house taking a look at the DIY Battlemat I made over 2 years ago here on the channel. The Battlemat has been rolled up on a postage tube for at least 12 months, and seems to have held up really well with time...and other potentially devestating shit going on around it.
Anyway, I apologize for a lack of content on the channel in the past months, things have not been easy to adjust too, and I still have many things to sort through and decide on.
I hope everyone is well, and thank you everyone for your support and for watching the videos available on my channel in my absence. It helps immensly.

Thanks John. Great to hear from you mate. I hope all is well with you and your family. Hopefully now that things are again moving forward, I can get some closure and a better sense of where to go from here. Took forever for the insurance just to get a quote and decide not to rebuild the house, so we're just now able to make a plan and get things moving again. Some big changes in my family situation have also made things a bit more challenging to deal with, but I can only roll with the punches and do my best to stay positive. Take care and all the best. If a housefire ain't a good endurance test for a DIY battle mat then I don't know what is! Best of luck sorting the place out mate hope you find more you can save.
Cheers mate. I did pull a bunch of my previous projects from the house (just couldn't stand the idea of it all being bulldozed). It's all in pretty bad shape, but I'm hoping I might be able to reuse something out of. I'll post up a video of how it all looks once I unpack it all. The never ending struggle for more shelves is real.

Thanks Benjamin. It surprised me how well it rolled out, I was expecting it to be at least a little bit 'set' into the shape of the tube I had it on, especially given it would have been hot as hell in that room. I'm glad they're working out for you. Take care mate.

Thanks April. I'm glad you dropped by, and thanks for the comment. Things are moving forward, albeit slowly, over here. Turns out it takes a long time to work through the details of something like a house fire, and we've only just now been able to start moving forward again due to delays with insurance (no dramas, they were just slow). I'm hoping a bit of closure here will help, so as the dust settles I'm hoping to be in a better place overall. Thanks again, take care and all the best.

No worries, and thank you. I'm glad they're working out for you. They're a really satisfying, and relatively quick and easy project to do. The fact they roll out so well after such a long time and the surface is still holding up, makes them such a worthwhile build. Oh, man! I still haven't managed to make one if these yet. Got a new job and moved house over the last year and a half. But maybe I can find time over summer. My urge to make a mat is certainly rekindled now!

Although not recommended, the heat treatment really gave the battle mat a lot of character!
