      Hi! I’m an EA to the CEO in Los Angeles. This was so interesting to watch because EA jobs can be so different from one company to the next! I’ve been in my role for over 3 yrs now and I’m very self-directed. Which can sometimes be a blessing and sometimes a curse lol. It requires extreme motivation and organization. My CEO likes to assign me larger projects with a general timeline for each (many running concurrently) and then I break them down on my own to create my own schedule from week to week. We are a small team so it often gets hectic when I take on additional tasks when collaborating on other things. I’m also the first to respond to a variety of emergency situations. It can be insane some weeks and pretty chill other weeks. Either way, I love my job and I hope it stays that way! It’s so important to have a good relationship with your boss and work for someone who truly respects and appreciates you, otherwise it would be a nightmare.

    Hello! I'm so glad I found your channel! I've honestly been spam watching it between bouts of working on projects for my job, and you've absolutely helped me find a better mindset for my position.
    I've literally only been a Personal Assistant for 3 weeks, (landed my first job in early May, after years of doing only customer service and restaurant work) and I love it already! We work part in-office and part at home, depending on the needs of our company, so I get to experience both sides of it.
    I'll admit, sometimes when I work at home, I do find it hard to stay productive, but I contribute the fact that I'm brand new and my manager hasn't given me that many tasks yet (she's been wonderful and is teaching me slowly what she expects of me, which has been great. Not stressful at all ---- Yet -----)

I’m scared that my mistakes will mess up big things for my boss if he’s depending on me.

      @@akosibail Previously in my role I have supported the Managing Director and General Managers as well as the rest of our leadership team which had 10 people in it. Its okay to make mistakes as thats how you learn and become better at your job. I don't think you should be afraid of making mistakes as long as you are trying your best :). Also, if it helps you, you can ask them what their expectations of you are. You may be mainly supporting the director general then supporting the rest of the team with general duties. Don't be afraid to make mistakes as I am sure the director general has made plenty in their time which lead them into the position they are in today. You are not a robot lol.

      @Meralijay  4 года назад +38

      Hi lovely,
      Some advice I can share with you are below:
      1. Do your research on what type of Executive Assistant you want to be. What I mean by that is determine which company you want to work for and if you want to work for a CEO or a Managing Director as the tasks involved could be quite different.
      2. Do some sort of education (bachelors degree is not always necessary so again, check with the company you want to work for if they require a certificate or something higher).
      3. Learn how to better organise yourself. Wether or not this means watching organisational videos or taking a Project course as most things you would do will involve projects for the MD or CEO.
      4. Be open to opportunities you may not consider.
      5. Being an EA is hard work sometimes as some days you may feel as though no one see's you or appreciates what you do so you have to be able to do things for your own internal motivation and not wait for praise from others.
      6. Talk to others who are EA's and network with them (pretty similar to what you are doing now).
      There's so much more I can say but so little space on a reply on RUclips lol. I am happy to connect with you over Instagram if you like @jayberardinelli is my handle.
      Good luck! I love being an EA and I know so many people who have been EA's for years and they still love their job.

I had a question about transitioning into an EA role that I'm hoping you could give me some advice on? So I've worked off and on as an administrative assistant for about three years, but recently I took a quick break to pursue my passion for Japanese culture and taught in Japan for almost two years. Since coming back, I realized I would love to upgrade to an Executive Assistant position, but I'm not sure how I can make that transition, especially with so many already asking for EA experience. I'm in Australia and I don't think you need to complete anything specific to become an EA unless you are working for the government I think - again I could be wrong. Sorry if that doesn't help you but keep aspiring to your goals and ask your teachers/professors, they may be able to give you some advice!

    Hi I hope you’re having a great day! I’m a freshmen and I’m interested in being an executive assistant but I don’t know what I should do to become one. I was hoping you had some ideas? I like to plan things and be ahead that’s why I’m searching right now. If you don’t mind me asking how’d you become one?

    • @Meralijay
      @Meralijay  4 года назад +3

      Zenab Bakayoko Hi! Thank you for watching. I have a bachelors degree in a completely unrelated field. I’m not sure what the requirements are where you live. I would suggest doing some research into what is required to become an executive assistant in your state. It would most likely be getting some sort of certificate as you would need to know how to manage your time and use various types of computer programs depending on the role itself. I hope that helps you, it’s hard to suggest things when I don’t live in your country. ❤️

    What notes do you take in the meetings?

    • @Meralijay
      @Meralijay  3 года назад +2

      Any action items that arise from the meetings and just summary points for those who couldnt make it to the meeting. These then get distributed after the meeting to the attendees.

    hey , I really enjoyed your video , may I ask u a question , I have a diploma in assistant administrative , is it possible to become executive assistant or should I complete my education ?

    • @Meralijay
      @Meralijay  3 года назад +2

      Hi, thank you for watching! I think it depends on the job description.. some may not need an education degree and take you on like this but I would suggest talking to the hiring managers in what they are looking for. Maybe do some research on some job offers out there currently and see if they require a degree or not.

    Hey Jay, i started my new PA Job yesterday and my 3 Execs have a lot of Meetings everyday. Do you have Any tipps for me? I cant Remember them that they have a Meeting because they have Every 15 min a Meeting :D can i do something To Show them my skills without remember? Thank you so much!

    • @Meralijay
      @Meralijay  3 года назад +1

      Having three execs is a lot of work and dont put too much pressure on yourself to remember. An average human can only remember maximum of seven items I think. Write it all down! Or print off their schedules and have them in your diary with you during the day.

    “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
    ‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭NIV‬
    ROMANS 10:9-11 “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame”
    Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
    “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.””
    ‭‭Luke‬ ‭19:10‬ ‭
    God wants us to believe in His One and Only Son, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, who died for our sins :D When we truly believe in our hearts that Jesus is the Son of God, who died for our sins so we could have eternal life with God, we are saved from the eternal fire and have eternal life in Christ Jesus!! 💖 May God bless you all!!
