    I ride a custom built longboard Sanctum 38" micro drop w/ top mounted Bear trucks, RAD 77a wheels and Zealous bearings. Its a killer carving setup which is all I ever really want to do. McNugget might like it because it feels low to the ground. The board is old but everything else on it is new. I have been thinking about getting a new deck but just gonna try some different bushings in the meantime until I figure that part out. I love what you guys do so maybe have a longboard day when you are light on video ideas! Cheers! :D

    I have two boards, one 8.25 with Industrial trucks, riser pads, 56mm Spitfires that are super soft, and Bones Reds. The other one is a 7.88 custom graphic deck with Independent trucks, 53mm Bones wheels, and also Bones Reds. I actually got the first board set up that way because I wasn't really trying to learn tricks just yet and just really enjoyed cruising around. I got the Bones wheels later on to interchange to try learning tricks, but I found that the wider board made it difficult to actually get the tricks started (which is a little weird since I wear a size 11), so I got that 7.88 inch board as a late b-day present to myself and set it up with the Bones wheels and Independent trucks.

    Currently on a 7/75 blank board, enuff trucks(I know....I know - but for the price they're not bad), 87a Schmitty OJ's wheels and Bones bearings. It's fast, quiet, smooth, turns well and flips really easily. The board is a bit narrow but it doesn't bother me at all(I grew up skating in the 80's/90's when boards were much bigger and you had to put way more effort in to flip them)
    I'm 6 foot 4, size US 12 shoe and I'm 46. Mostly just rolling nowadays hence the setup with such soft wheels.

    Mini super juices are the greatest wheels ever made. 55mm 78A. Now I love reverts and what not but nothing beats the super smooth and quiet ride of super juices. The very first thing you do on your skateboard is roll and if it ain’t comfortable that ruins the whole day for me. I’m okay with putting in more effort to do tricks if I can comfortably ride home afterwards. Then I have 8.1 enjoy deck (not for much longer it’s falling apart) and tensor mids the 8” size

  • @blackiecat07yt13
    @blackiecat07yt13 10 месяцев назад

    My setup is kinda just thrown together, but it works for me. It consists of some random old 7.75 deck from a garage sale. Black Diamond grip tape. Indy truck baseplates and bushings, with some random hangers I had laying around. 1/8 in Indy riser pads. 54 mm 81b (101a) Bones SPF P2 wheels. Reds bearings. I do a mix of freestyle and street, so the thinner deck feels fine, despite me being a taller guy. The wheels are bigger for rougher terrain, as I skate at some gritty spots and parks. I keep my trucks on the tighter side of mid range, just so I don’t wobble too much. Also, I’m pretty new, like, less than a year, but the several tricks I know are either freestyle or street. I know this comment is two years late, but I only just watched this vid.

    Definitely matter of opinion and what works for you, I broke my ankle skating when I was around 15-16, used to skate a 8.25 but now I can only skate an 8 otherwise the board is now too big for me to do flip tricks because my ankle just isn’t the same as it used to be and I’m now nearly 23. Favourite company boards are definitely baker I love the shape of them, a friend broke my board recently as I lent it to him, he gave me a blind board that’s pretty much brand new but I’ve found that the board is super heavy, struggle to flip it and it’s still a size 8, just feels so heavy to flip, guess I got to just get used to it

    Abec rating is the spacing between the ball and the ring for the speed a bearing can handle in machinery. Abec rating has little to do with bearings that are used for skateboarding in wheels. Bones bearings are skate rated, the impact a bearing gets etc etc. The Ceramic bearings are made to handle the high temperatures ,vert or downhill skateboarding for example. For my skating, park or streets, I like an Baker deck from 8.0 - 8.5 mellow concave. Indy mids 144, Bones bushings medium, spitfire formula four classics 54mm 97a, crusty ground, or 52mm in 99a. Bones Swiss bearings, MOB griptape, shake junt 7/8 bolts.
    Do a how to set up your skateboard video Ricky. Much love.

    When I last tried to get into skateboarding I got an 8.25 Element deck. I always was drawn to that brand when I was a kid. I wanted the rest of the setup to be lightweight so I had low trucks and small wheels. I had my trucks tight. I don’t think I’m ever going to be able to commit to it now I’m 33 though, and I just don’t have the knack for falling and not injuring myself. I ended up switching to soft Ricta Cloud wheels so I can just cruise around instead.

    Zooyork was always my go to board with Tensor Trucks, Bones Wheels n Swiss bearings. N i always skated 7.5 n was never that consistent with my tricks until one day someone bought me an 8.5 Tony Hawk Birdhouse board which back in 2003 everyone considered it a posers board which i def wasnt lol but i gave it a shot n instantly became super consistent so like they were sayin dont get hung up on one specific brand n think that thats it because it could be hurting ur progression as a skater. Although the my last Zooyork board was given to me by Harold Hunter(r.i.p.) n that is prob on of my alltime favorites that i still skate till this day. Along with my Element Smiley Face board given to me by Mike V at one of his concerts cuz i was a stagehand n saw him backstage n he actually gave me his board it was def one of the coolest days of my life. Honestly, it depends so much on the brand whether 99A and 101A are actually really any different. The 99A definitely _should_ feel more sticky, but at the same time it is not a universal standard. Meaning a 99a Ricta Chrome core wheel might slight more than a Spitfire Formula Four Conical Full 101A (not even kidding). I love both, so don't get me wrong. But it wouldn't surprise me if the Ricta Chrome Core is the harder wheel. I also have some Ricta Clouds 92a and those are awesome too if you want softer more comfy wheels. Issue is, they won't slide as well in grinds or slides, meaning if you're very trick orientated you probably should get at least 99a wheels or harder durometer.

    ABEC has to do with the tolerances of the bearing components from a manufacturing side. Typically a higher rating means smaller tolerances, and better quality control during production. This is what I've heard...

  • @schrodingerskat3992
    @schrodingerskat3992 3 года назад

    ABEC it's for the amount of RPM they can stand before breaking, cuz bearings going fast tend to get hot cuz of friction and jam, ergo break, the only reason I know this its cuz in engineering school its kinda important

      Obviously you like thunder trucks I've always road independent trucks of some kind but thought about trying out some thunders. I also ride a 8.25 are the thunder 8.5 trucks a exact match to the board 8.25? Cause I know the exact size of indys is 144 to match a 8.25 board.

      @@mattwoelke9620 well I always said that both Indy and thunder 149s fit an 8.25 better but go with 149(8.5) thunders

    Ishod Wair rides his trucks smaller than his deck size, I think he rides thunder 147's (8.0") with an 8.3" deck, I always found this crazy, but I guess you can't argue with the GOAT.

    Abec rating matters in my opinion. It won't tell you how durable the bearing is, but it does tell you how tight the tolerance is between the bearing and the track. Higher the abec rating, higher the tolerance (less play/slop) in the bearing. A bearing with a tighter tolerance is going to spin faster and generate less friction to coast longer.

    Abec does have an impact on speed and reliability but this is rated at insane speeds that are impossible to reach on a skateboard its more of an industrial spec

    bones was the first company to not use an ABEC rating. the reason is that ABEC rating where specifically for rating large machine bearings. so when bones started their company because their bearings were "skateboard bearing" and didnt want any relation to machine bearings.
