    Funny how all the channels that have never once shown a knife being used yet have "reviewed" 100+ knives seem to be convinced something like this would break a half dozen pairs of omega springs. It's alllmooooost like they have no actual experience and just parrot back what they read on terrible knife forums. People would never lie on the internet though, right??
    Very impressive, even moreso when you take into account that it was the factory edge. Tom Hosang got 700% better edge retention (cardboard) over the factory edge after the very first sharpening.
    Cruwear has never impressed me (comparatively, I mean. It's obviously an amazing steel) but this video definitely sold me a full size cruwear Adamas.
    The "really thick sidewall" was definitely the steel bands that run through the road contact surface, which again makes it even more impressive.
    Great video!

    I'm glad you successfully batoned with it. Some reviewers batoned a bit harder and the lock failed (it didn't break, the lock bar just slipped...and duh it's a folder.) Aside from that I expected it to hold up to the other tests, the construction is so beastly. Thanks for actually using the knife in your vid. I love my mini so far.

    Just got mine $200 from AAFES. I have knives (both folding and fixed blade) that are tactical or bushcraft. I wanted a folder that could be used for both roles - a great tactical/survival/bushcraft knife. I think I found it in the Mini Adamas. My fixed blade Adamas in D2 throws sparks from a ferrocerium rod like a champ (I use the serrated spine, never the edge). I wasn't sure how the Mini Adamas in Cruwear would do, but it also throws mad sparks off the spine with very little scratching to the coating. Much beefier than my Mini Bugout, this is rapidly becoming my favorite folder and my new daily EDC. At first, you might be concerned about the thickness, but I hardly even notice it's there in my 5.11 pants.

  • @mikem4259

    Ugh! My heart was in my chest all through this. I cringe when I see a folder being used for something I’d use a fixed blade or hatchet for. That being said, great video. Thanks for this, I think I’ll pick one up. I haven’t been into my Benchmade’s lately, so it’s time for a new one. It’s not likely mine will see this kind of use, but it’s good to know it’ll hold up if I had to.

    i don't think that's good performance for CruWear (which is essentially steel as tough as 3V [i.e very!] but trades some stain resistance for wear resistance) that is allegedly hardened to 63-65HRC (on their website). cruwear at that hardness it should be going through nails without problems, not get small rolls/chips on the first staple. IF it's really treated to that hardness, it probably has the edge ruined with hot grinding (unfortunately the norm for most production companies nowadays :(( ), meaning you'll get the true performance of this knife after 3-5 sharpenings :/
    i really really like the looks of this, but i think i'll wait for more tests of the steel :(

    • @overlandedc
      @overlandedc  3 года назад +2

      I’d expect better after a few sharpenings. This was not only to test the factory edge but more to put the knife itself through some abuse which it handled like a champ

    It is an awesome knife, but I have to disagree about it being midsized. My buddy got one and we agree that an actual midsized with a 3.4-3.5" blade and little bit longer handle would be perfect. This one is just a touch small in both, especially the handle, for me and is the only thing keeping me from it. It is incredibly well built though and still has me very tempted. Thanks for the great testing.

    • @overlandedc
      @overlandedc  3 года назад +1

      For me anyways, it's right in the middle. 3 inch being a "small knife", over 3.5 being large. 3.25 is the sweet spot but I also have average sized hands which is a big factor.

      @@normal1972 I get that. I own two Benchmade's currently, this one and a Bug Out. I was honestly blow away by this knife. • @gpearce11
      @gpearce11 3 года назад

      I'd normally agree that I'd normally consider a mid-size knife 3.4-3.6in (I used to consider this large, but I now consider large anything over 3.65in), however considering the overall overbuild nature of this knife, it does seem to seem a little bigger feeling than it's 3.3in blade/7.6in overall lengths would normally indicate in the size comparisons I've seen so far.

    While moderate abuse makes for YT knife content....maybe you could in the future be willing to REALLY push the knives to test their breaking point. Literally. Be willing to sacrifice the knife in the name of testing....leaving "wood stabbing" for the last "test" e.g. Adamas 58 stacbs before a piece of the tip broke, PM2....58 stabs...etc...no YTer has done this so far...
    No doubt the Adamas is heavy duty...for a pocket-knife...most won't be "torture testing"...not what pocket knives were desgined for...lets get real. :) Do "seat belt cut test" sim an emergency...how fast can you cut through a seat belt...real world use...possible use...
