A tip that saved my ass: second gear is your friend. You can start off in second, cruise parking lots in second, navigate heavy traffic in second, etc. Until you learn how to properly leave off in first, second is fine.
Bro I needed this I’m about to pick up a 1998 Honda civic coupe and I’m driving back home 1 hr back and I don’t know how to drive manual I’m lucky I don’t got work on the day I’m picking it up
I wanna learn a manual but all people focus on is accelerating which I'm actually good at but nobody ever talks about how to properly downshift which urks me
@@sae4071 when downshifting you must enter the next lowest gear at the RPM that you would shift out of or lower. You don't want to over rev when down shifting
In Europe, a manual transmission is standard. If you want to get a driver's license, you must know how to operate a manual transmission. However, many people like to drive an automatic transmission.
If you drive a diesel, the low end torque makes the process of pulling away easier as you can just let out the clutch slowly and it starts pulling away but in a petrol engine, you might have to give it a little gas if you think it might stall...
These how to drive manual videos leave me baffled as a person living in Siberia, ask here any guy above age 20 to drive a manual and 90% of the time they'll have zero mistakes. My dad used to drive an automatic 1998 Toyota Hiace, bought a 2008 manual Skoda and drove it home like it was his second nature. Although your vid is useless for me, it's a great how to for inexperienced drivers. P.S. The Skoda is mine now
The hardest part for me is timing the release of the clutch with the gas. Often I find myself either letting off the clutch too fast or not applying enough gas
„Release the clutch completely and the car will start rolling“. Yes and No. What he didn’t tell you is, this only works on diesel engines or really powerful gasoline ones with a lot of torque. You need to press the gas pedal while releasing clutch to actually start rolling or you will choke the engine and it turns off.
It's all fine until: - you try this on an older car that doesn't inch forward by just releasing the clutch. - you try this on an incline, the clutch release going uphill will most likely stall the car even in newer ones. The best tip would be lift the clutch half way and give it a touch of gas then when the car starts moving progressively release the clutch and accelerate. Learn the sweetspot between clutch release and acceleration needed, this sweetspot changes when going uphill
First find a, manual car. In America easier said then done. In Europe. Manual is the only way to go imo Also driving manual is fun. Here in Europe it's almost all manual. For Americans if you can try it once do it. Don't be afraid that you won't be able to do it. It's a learning curve and you'll get a feel for it and once you've got the feel you'll never want to go back
I am from Austria and by us it’s totally normal to drive a car with manual gear shift, i was always wondering about the us market why the just got automatics..and I am sure that over 50% doesn’t even know how to drive a manual..
Me; Nuh I definitely prefer the luxury & comfort of my automatic Car. The engineers didn't work so hard to make driving easier just for me to tire myself.
Don’t listen to him, setting u up for a new clutch. Add gas when setting off 1.5k revs and less or no revs if it’s diesel cos they have higher low end torque causing them to get moving without stalling compared to a petrol
@@ericolens3 doing it at a school on weekends or summer break is just not it, i mean you can get free obstacles to help you learn control the car, why not take it?
Quick question how do we drive the car to the parking lot 🤔

That last part was very comforting.
Don’t be afraid to stall because it really has happened to all of us, embarrassing though it may be. 💖

Second also requires u to ride the clutch for much longer aka burns it faster
Just as a note, whilst you can start off in second it is much easier to stall, I wouldnt recommend anyone learning to start moving in second
Same with motorcycles. Second is your friend
bro really said to practice all the gears while being at the same spot in the parking lot.
Doing this tutorial with an automatic car saves so much time
Instructions unclear, lost a finger in the fan
Instructions unclear. I’m now in a high speed chase with 20 cop cars tailing me.
That is just enough information to be dangerous. Actually that's about a 3rd of what you need to know to drive a manual competently

This is why driver's ed should still allow you to drive a manual if you already know how to drive an automatic damn shame they didn't teach that

“I’m approaching 3000ft and I am in full stall condition falling like a rock. What do I do ???”

I’ve never driven manual yet, but I feel like once your going shifting is the easiest.
I learned how to use a clutch on my motorcycle so I can learn this

Because I pretty much pushed my current automatic 2013 Honda Civic Ex to the limit at 120 mph.

You forgot to mention that smaller lower hp and torque engines need a little bit of gas otherwise they'll just stall
That CT4V has a no-lift shift manual
