Iran Attacks Israel, Sort Of... || Peter Zeihan

- In the early hours of April 14, Iran - both directly and through its many proxies - launched the largest missile and drone assault on the Israeli state since at least the 1973 Yom Kippur war. It was quite a show.

When it was announced that Iran had launched a wave of drones with an ETA of 3 to 4 hours, it's when I realized that Iran wasn't looking to kick off WWIII.
Stay in your lane love letter.
Exactly 😅
It's also when it became crystal clear to anyone being honest with themselves that A) they couldn't do so even if they wanted to and B) they'd get their asses handed to them if they did..... and they know it.
Except Iran launched cruise missiles the same time as the drones arrived to overwhelm iron dome.

Does anyone else remember when he claimed “not a single 3rd country is likely to get involved” AFTER the US was already getting involved? Aka he lied. Go back and watch his previous and video on the Israel-Hamas conflict/war. Check the dates. At the time of him uploading it, the us had already sent 2 aircraft carrier groups to the region. They would later conduct strikes on multiple countries. Now with the recent chain of events there is a very real risk that this escalated to a larger regional war.
Will Peter ever come out and say “I was wrong”?? I doubt it. Also, he wasn’t just wrong, he was LYING.

Iran's 'retaliation' might fool a chunk of their internal populace, but I think all their regional proxies now see them as too scared to do anything of significant measure.
yeah what is the point of "Saving face" when all you're really doing is showing how incompetent you are? Even their internal populace should be pissed. Like image what the US population would think about the US military not only launching 200+ missiles spending potentially billions of tax payer dollars which they already largely take issue with but for then that attack to have basically no effect and achieve nothing of significance? Now yes Iran clearly didn't spend billions on this attack but relative the their GDP they might as well have. They've just lowered their own geopolitical posturing and gained nothing for it.
Iron Dome had nothing to do with it, it's a short-range missile defense system. This was done by mostly aircraft with AA weapons like the Israeli Python 5, US Sidewinder, etc. - downing the drones and cruise missiles before they ever reached Israeli airspace. The ballistic missiles were intercepted by the Israeli Arrow 2 + 3 (like the ones recently sold to Germany), and some might have been by the mid-range David's Sling. Iron Dome is amazing, just not for this specific use-case - only for the Hezbullah rockets shot from Lebanon.
If the missiles were intercepted why are their videos of at least a dozen impacts?
@@ourvaluesarewhoweareinadem4093 you mean the videos from Sevastopol and the rest? Get your sources right.

That's everything... Thx
The show must go on...
Too many missiles thrown to Israel for Israel not to retaliate.
What would the US, Russia and China have done in a similar situation?
It seems the drone & missile barrage from Iran was a show of force, probably targeted at empty space. China does this to Taiwan from time to time. If Israel takes the bait and responds with deadly force, they'd be blamed for starting ww3.
your forgeting the fact that this was a response to the consulate strike on the first of April, and also Iran notified the US and countries around Isreal. Netanyahu is clearly starting a regional war so that he stays in office longer.
Exactly, this is the main point here. Iran has forced Israel’s hand now, and of course, Israel will gladly oblige.
The US under the Democraps? The first impulse of the fairies in the State Department is to negotiate and give everything away as apeasers always do. The Biden administration knows they can't fund a war, they are bankrupting the country already (they caused the inflation hurting people) and still slow walking aid to Ukraine (and wanting negotiations, not for Ukraine to win by combat) and they know that a big Mideast war will for sure lose them the election. Whatever they (Democrats) do you can be sure because they see the world through a distortion caused by their philosophy, they think the rest of the world thinks like them but it doesn't and so they misread every time.
@@stuartcammack9546wrong. Iran is force to reply to Israel by sending drone to Israel with notification. Israel should stop right here. They busy with the Hamas in Gaza, fighting 2 front is the bad move in every war scenario

You’re forgetting an important piece of information: Israel spent up to $1.3 billion on anti-missile ammunition alone (each missile costs millions), not to mention jet fuel and other logistical costs or the Coalition’s costs. Total estimates could be over $3 billion spent.
Meanwhile, Iran spent about $230 million on cheap UAVs and missiles.
Israeli defensive operations could be unsustainable if attacked constantly by quick-to-produce aerial weapons.
Which if true would suggest that Israel would be forced to go offensive to knock out Iranian production and deployment capabilities.

Would have been nice to know your perspective on what’s next. .
Why tho? If he were to make any predictions about what will happen next they will be wrong and he might lie again. Like in his previous video on the Gaza conflict, he claimed “not a single 3rd country is likely to get involved.” We can see how wrong he was, and not only was he just wrong but that was an outright lie. Because at the time of that video being posted, the US was already getting involved. Remember, the US sent 2 aircraft carrier groups to the region. Those carrier groups would go on to conduct strikes in Iraq, Syria, and Yemen. This is on top of constantly supplying Israel with weapons.
Additionally, Hezbollah was already involved, but he said that Hezbollah and the Houthis “don’t count”

Fascinating
I think it’s interesting how effective the anti ballistic missile/cruise missile capabilities are.
most telegraphed before attack, the USA were telling houti we coming for maybe 2 weeks in advance
They were warning it's not like US told them what was coming & where, while Iranian wanted there drones to be hit , US intended to hit houtis.
Russia military exercise on Belarus?
Iran basically spread the word so that the US and its allies knew that Iran was going to strike back and that it would only hit military targets, and then after the attack was over they had no other plans to do any more attacks unless Israel struck back.
Kudos to Iran on this, they thought this situation over and did the best thing knowing they had to strike back. Israel was not hoping for the response that Iran gave.
Iran just put a red line in the sand. A Country attacking an Embassy is a bad thing. The media is trying to downplay what Israel did by calling a consulate building... It is an Embassy.
This was less about a retaliation and more of a warning the situation is now different, that Israel has changed the equation when they hit that embassy and Iran is no longer going to deal with Israel. In addition to this now being a different ball game, Iran showed that it was able to reach out over 1,000Km with precision and strike. A lot of things are crazy right now because the West no longer has the same advantage they once had with technology to reach out and hit you. The gap is closing faster than ever. While many countries have a long way to go with certain things, many have closed the gap with accurate Drones and Missiles.
Iran was able to smack back, make a statement and keep Israel from teaming up with allies on this because others know hitting an embassy crosses a line where you will get you a response. You know it was a bad move from Israel when the US is like Sorry you are on your own with this. US Officials do not want to get involved with Israel on this. So there has been no retaliation by Israel at the moment, most likely because Israel had its allies back out on this. They reopened everything again and even the schools, so we can assume for now there will be no reaction from Israel. Let's all just hope that Israel does not do anything stupid again, at least for a while.
Iran basically told Israel the equation has changed, f** k around and find out... Israel is not making too many people happy in the region lately.
You always warn children before you spank them.

@@gags730 hey, The Simpsons is not predicting, it is showing the future.
Hundreds of missiles isnt a unserious attack, just because israel and allies are competent doesnt negate the actions of the other nations.

It's amazing how exact an accurate is your info vs how funny you are
Great to hear some common sense spoken about this missile ‘attack’ !
I think Peter's analysis is naive concerning the generals Israel killed near the Iranian Embassy. Through chatter and other intelligence, those military leaders had been coordinating attacks on Israel by both Hamas and Hezbollah. They had been involved with the Houthis in Yemen as well, and that made them viable military targets. Israel took them out and removed the threat. Peter is correct in that this was probably the most telegraphed attack in history, but Iran has done this before, warning the allies of the scope and intention of an attack so they would have plausible deniability of malintent in the end. This is their modus operandi. Iran does NOT want war with the West because it is certain they would lose. They have a shit Navy and almost no airforce, their entire threat is through proxies who will fight for them. They do have a keen interest in nuclear power and weapons, and that would give them much greater bargaining strength, although, like Russia, they are more bluster than bite.
No foreign military power has directly attacked the state of Israel without paying a consequence. That is the Israeli way, peace through strength and the spine to use it. Israel MUST respond and they will do so with careful deliberation and specific results. I think their priority will be the hardened nuclear facilities both above and below ground to destroy or disrupt the Iranian nuclear ambitions, and they could also damage Iran's oil distribution facilities to depress their economy. Whatever the Israelis choose to do, they will not telegraph the attack and by the time the Iranians can point and shoot, the Israelis will be gone. The attack will be unexpected, as well as fast and furious. Then I would also expect the Israelis to announce the score is settled and there is no need to escalate further. You don't hit Israel and not expect to get hit back - especially when they are already peeved by another attack. Whatever happens, Iran causes it. They are the root of all the chaos in the Middle East.
I think you are as wrong as Peter.
