I'm still in disbelief over her death. She was so loved. RIP Ida. You don't know how much you are missed here. But you are one of those who wil never die!
Bravo Ida Haendel. Man kann sie nur lieben. So eine fantastische Interpretin.
Unbelievable how she chose to bring out certain notes and certain dynamics during a chord.. never would imagine to be able to draw out that kind power with such fitted yet unorthodox patterns.. imagine playing your whole life connecting your mind body and soul to Bach.. her movements are totally in synch and controlled by the natural gravity of the tempo never losing connection note to note
Yes, she brought out notes that I have never heard before... and I've played this many times, ha!! She was so amazing and really knew how to speak through her instrument.
This is a sad news indeed to know she passed away a few months ago. I sometimes ask myself which CD I will keep if I only can have one. The answer is kept unchanged since I have her Baroque Transcription. If I can have two more, my definite answer is her Bach partitas and sonatas.
I love the sound she gets out of that upbow without breaking the rhythm, most break the rhythm to do a downbow. This is the better approach, I think. Not sure I've seen another violinist do it.
I'm usually disappointed by performances, since they either are too "interpretive " and ignore the building blocks of harmony and leading voices within the texture; or break the structure into little points of detail - a broken chord with an inappropriately emphasized pitch; an exaggerated (or missed) appoggiatura; a lack of direction in the music's search for its cadences.....here I am utterly convinced of the music's shape, inner life and purpose, its varied sections each with rhetorical purpose....activity and rest, life and meditation, searching and resolution with each chord functioning as it should, resting solid tonic, passing V, ii7 teasing the cadence, I 6/4 just place-holding. Remarkable. Who cares if some pitches are off? The intent is pure and resolute in tenderness and fierce declamation, speaking the voice and ethos of Bach.
Well that’s kind of a back handed comment. We can obviously tell she was better in her youth but just the fact that she’s playing in general is amazing. 🤣
I was wondering the same thing. The B flat on the E string sounds a bit off but I don't think that's her playing. Her intonation is generally scarily spot on. I think it might be an issue with the recording - who knows. Fantastic playing!
@@violintegral it sounds better at this tempo than the forced pace most take it at. This is a coherent piece of music, rather than the virtuoso showpiece many try to make it.

Finally, someone understood that the ciaconna is a slow paced dance and it isn't a violin romantic showpice. Thank you forever Ms. Haendel.

A wild genius. We miss You.

RIP Ida, Great legend of violin!
Покойся с миром, Ида Гендель ..я всегда восхищалась красотой её исполнения...теперь не с меньшим удовольствием слушаю её ученика--Дэвида Гарретта...
Ms. Haendel is a legend! Brava! Wonderful!
Thank you Ida for making me feel happy!

Absolutely magnificent performance! Thank you😀🌹💕💐🍀👍
One of the preeminent violinists of the last century,an eminent pedagogue, an artist of the highest order.

Absolutely incredible. You are a true genius!!! Bach would be proud of you 👍
Bravo, die beste Version, die ich jemals gehört habe.

Very sorrow last month she passed away
Bravo..!!!..
Love this performance, you can hear notes here which you won't hear anywhere else
Great comment!

Way beyong her peak but absolutely amaying for her age and very inspiring. Ida Handel was amazing.

Simpática, una Gran violinista! ❤🎻🐶
Genius
The most natural playing of Bach's Chaconne. Brava!
That dog know the ending of Chaconne and woke up in time 😄
😂😅Bravo Decca and her Mommy ! 😅🤪
The pitch is a little strange in some places, but it's definitely a moving performance. I cried. And a cute dog, hahaha.

Fantastic playing!
Her Chaconne was unrecognizable and her poor dog needs flea prevention medication.

16:38 I felt goosebumps. Not gonna lie, almost wanted to cry
15:11 (I´m actually marking these for myself xd)
A bit slow, but such passion and warmth!
A ciaconna is a slow dance.
@@gsm2424 - So? There are about as many tempos of this piece as there are versions.
@@gsm2424 not this slow. The pulse is almost dead here.

@@violintegral It isn't slow at all. Do you know this piece?
