- Possessed is an Intamin Impulse coaster at Dorney Park. This launched inverted coaster was relocated from Geauga Lake where it ran as Steel Venom. Possessed used to have a holding brake (footage of this is from 2014), but it has not worked in recent years. Possessed was rumored to be removed when Dorney Park submitted plans for their new coaster in early 2020, so this coaster may not have much time left.
I got to ride this with the holding brake in 2015, and it was so good. I think I was really surprised because I didn’t even know it was working until I was on it. I really hope they somehow get it working again if they plan on keeping it.
I loved the holding brake.
I think with Wicked Twister becoming a parts donor for this and Steel Venom, Possesed might have a new lease on life at Dorney. The planned Gravity Group coaster doesn’t take up the spot that Possessed is on, and it could very much coexist with the new coaster. This may just be me being a total sucker for Impulse Coasters, but I do think plans have changed for Possessed, at least in the near future.
I hope it can stick around.
Hey, Canobie Coaster! Steel Venom at Valleyfair still has a functional holding brake!
Awesome!
Well, that gravity group is actually a B&M dive named iron menace. And possessed isn’t going anywhere anytime soon!
I'm looking forward to trying Iron Menace.
So what random people on week nights get the holding brake?
The holding brake footage was pre-covid. The other footage was post-covid.
I’m angry they stopped the holding break
Me too.
This happened to other Impulse Coasters, most notably Vertical Velocity at Six Flags Great America!
Is it okay if I use this footage as well as a few other dorney coasters for reviews? I was at haunt yesterday but it got dark out quickly to get good photos.
Yes, as long as you give credit.
This ride is absolutely phenomenal. I’m blown away every time I ride it, the launches are so powerful, the pull outs are ridiculously forceful and the backwards spike is the biggest gut punch in the entire park.
It's solid.
Neat. Like the looks of it. Fun. Another idea for Canada's Wonderland. Cool.
It would work there.
I don't like repetitive rides, but this was pretty good. A solid 6/10 for me
The holding brake really helped.
I rode it once with the holding brake. Took me by surprise as I was not expecting it.
I loved that feature.
If what you say is true about this ride being removed then I don't know how I feel about this. They definietely need a new roller coaster but at the same time the last thing they need is to get rid of one (especially since this is the only launched roller coaster they have). If it gets relocated to another Cedar Fair park like Michigan's Adventure or Worlds of Fun then I'd say it's no big deal but they didn't relocate Wicked Twister at Cedar Point so I don't see why they would with this one.
This isn’t being removed anytime soon. They just got a boatload of parts from wicked twister, and it’s clear that that shuttle gravity group woodie isn’t happening sadly.
I have a hunch those plans will come back.
@@CanobieCoaster I’d love to see that happen
